New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signs America’s first anti-BDS state order
Posted on June 6, 2016 by JNS.org.(JNS.org)
New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo on Sunday issued the first-ever
executive order on the U.S. state level that targets the anti-Israel
Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. The governor’s order
prohibits any state agency or authority from engaging in a boycott of
Israel or promoting BDS movement activities. Cuomo announced the
order at the annual Celebrate Israel Parade in New York City. “New York
stands in solidarity with Israel today and always,” he said. “This
state will not stand for the politics of discrimination in any form,
and we will continue to demonstrate our unwavering support for the
people of Israel in the fight for freedom, liberty, and democracy,” said
Cuomo. “I’m proud to sign this nation’s leading executive order, which
will help protect Israel from the threat of divestment. This order sends
the message that this state will do everything in its power to end this
hateful, intolerant campaign. New York and Israel share an unbreakable
bond and I pray that the Israeli and Palestinian people will find a way
to live side by side and find peace, prosperity and security.” The
new mandate, which took effect immediately, requires New York's Office
of General Services to make a list of state institutions and companies
that participate in BDS activity "either directly or through a parent or
subsidiary.” The list will be posted on the state agency’s website
within six months and will continue to be updated based on new
information. “It’s very simple: If you boycott against Israel, New
York will boycott you,” Cuomo said Sunday before marching in the
pro-Israel parade. Reprinted

Nearly
100,000 Sign On a Show of Support for Israel |

|
Tuly
Weisz (June 6, 2016)
"This is so exciting, holding a book with almost 100,000
signatures of people from all over the world, who signed their name on the
Jerusalem Covenant." -Rabbi Yehudah Glick
(Jerusalem)—[Israel365] In honor of Jerusalem Day,
a collection of over 93,000 signatures from Israel supporters worldwide
affirming the Jerusalem Covenant, which proclaims the eternal unity of Jerusalem
and its status as the Biblical and political capital of Israel, was presented to
Knesset's newest member, Rabbi Yehudah Glick (Likud), by Israel365 founder Rabbi
Tuly Weisz. (Photo: MK Yehudah Glick (left) being presented with the

"This is so exciting, holding a book with almost 100,000 signatures of people
from all over the world, who signed their name on the Jerusalem Covenant," said
Glick upon presentation of the Covenant. "Jerusalem is the city of peace," he
continued, "and here we see the words of the prophets materializing and becoming
a reality, all nations coming together and signing the Jerusalem Covenant
between God and Jerusalem and the world." The Jerusalem Covenant was
originally written in 1992 by Deputy Chief Justice Rabbi Menachem Elon to
commemorate the 25th anniversary of Jerusalem's reunification. The Covenant is
intended as a renewal of the original Biblical covenant between God and the
people of Israel. In 2013, Israeli NGO Israel365 launched a project to bring the
Jerusalem Covenant to the hearts of Israel supporters throughout the world. In
its first year, the initiative garnered 10,000 signatures; the number has
annually doubled ever since, growing from 23,000 in 2014 to over 50,000
signatures last year. This year, the number of signatures reached over 93,000.
Signatories hail from over 100 countries, from Albania to Zimbabwe. Each
year, the printed collection of signatures, bound together in a book, are
presented to a different member of Knesset. Last year, Israel365 staff presented
the Covenant to Speaker of the Knesset Yuli Edelstein. This year, the Covenant
was given to MK Rabbi Yehudah Glick in recognition of his work to reconnect the
Jewish people with Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. (Photo: The Jerusalem
Covenant 2016/via Tuly Weisz) "I wish for Israel365 that you should
succeed in putting out the next copy, by the end of the jubilee year, with a
million signatures," he added. "That would be the opening of a new
era." Rabbi Tuly Weisz added, "Signing the Jerusalem Covenant gives
Israel's supporters a chance to make their voices heard, and to tell the world
that Jerusalem is, and always will be, the Biblical heritage of the Jewish
people." To sign the Jerusalem Covenant, please click here.
