Over 1,200 Came to Christ; Revival in NC Draws to a Close

Monday, Aug 1, 2016

Mark Martin (Aug 1, 2016)

"I've never seen anything like it; this meeting has changed my life. It has changed everything about me. And I am so thankful and honored for what God has done and what God is doing—not just here in Burlington, but the aftershock that has literally shook across this nation." -C. T. Townsend

(Burlington, NC)—[CBN News] The Burlington Revival has come to an end after going strong for 11 weeks. Friday night was the last night the revival services were held in Burlington, North Carolina. (Screengrab via CBN News)

The owner needed his tent back for another meeting, and services will not continue at another location, one leader told CBN News.

"There were no other opportunities for us to do that. So for now, the Burlington Revival has ended," D.R. Harrison wrote in a text.

A mighty move of God took place during the revival. Thousands attended services held daily. Harrison said more than 1,250 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

The revival started as a week-long event back on Mother's Day at New Hope Baptist Church and eventually moved to a huge tent near Interstates 40 and 85.

"What a joy; what an honor, and what a privilege to see God working in this day," lead evangelist C.T. Townsend said in a video on the Burlington Revival Facebook page. "I've never seen anything like it, and this meeting has changed my life."

"It has changed everything about me," he continued. "And I am so thankful and honored for what God has done and what God is doing—not just here in Burlington, but the aftershock that has literally shook across this nation."

Although the services have ended, Townsend said the work is not over.

"I believe that Jesus is soon to return, and we all have to do our job to seek as many souls as we possibly can before His return," Townsend said. "I'm believing by faith along with many other people that Burlington is not the end, but it is the beginning of what God is doing in America."

"We are trusting God for real, genuine, Heaven-sent revival, not just here in Burlington, but across America," he continued.

Townsend said America needs to turn to God for the solutions to the problems the country faces.

"We are trusting God because we know that revival is the only answer that we have," he said. "Another Democrat or another Republican, no matter how good they are, is not going to fix the problems that we are in."

Townsend said he and other revival leaders prayed that God would provide another tent so they can preach the Gospel across the country, and he hoped people would contribute to the cause. He said in the Facebook video that it would cost around $250,000 to purchase the tent and its accessories. (Screengrab via CBN News)

"God's people miraculously raised almost $340,000 this past week in efforts to purchase a brand new tent," Harrison said in a statement to CBN News. "What a mighty God we serve," he also wrote in a text.

"C.T. has established a tent purchasing committee that will oversee the purchase of the new tent and all accessories," Harrison continued in the statement. "All of the extra funds raised will go towards everything needed with the tent including lights, staging, chairs, tractor and trailers, etc., etc."

The goal, he said, is to begin the new tent ministry "debt-free."

"And it's all thanks to God for what He is doing in this day and hour!" he exclaimed.

"They will begin working on the new tent soon and no plans yet as to when the next meeting will begin," Harrison wrote.
