Forbidden GatesA Review of Tom and Nita Horn’s Forbidden Gates

by Steve Eastman

Tom and Nita Horn have a lonely message.  No, it’s not a message of loneliness, but they are among the first sounding this particular warning trumpet.  The Horns are practically alone in doing this, kind of like some Biblical figure like …

… like Noah.  The choice of Noah is more than a coincidence.  A key scripture to understanding Forbidden Gates is Luke 17:26: “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man.” (NKJV)  The book details what happened in the days of Noah and draws a parallel to current trends in biology, computer science and related fields.

Only seven people believed Noah — his wife, his three daughters and his sons-in-law.  The Horns are counting on significantly more believing them.

Forbidden Gates is the latest in a series of books including Nephilim Stargates, The Ahriman Gate and Apollyon Rising 2012.  They build the case for a worldview that has been largely ignored, but this will not be possible much longer as technology accelerates exponentially.

What was happening in the days of Noah?  We meet Noah in Genesis 6:8, but four verses earlier we are told, “There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them.  Those were mighty men who were of old, men of renown.” (NKJV) The Hebrew for “giants” is Nephilim.

There are several schools of thought on who these Nephilim were.  The Horns follow an interpretation that agrees with the book of Enoch.  Some of the early church fathers considered Enoch inspired, but ultimately it was not included in canon.  However, the author of the New Testament book of Jude thought it sufficiently edifying to reference.  Think of it as one of the top ten Jewish books of that era — pretty good teaching, but not actually part of the Bible.

Getting back to the Horns, they consider the Nephilim to be the unnatural by-product of a procreative process involving human women and fallen angels.  It appears it was satan’s aim to corrupt the gene pool so an unblemished savior could not later be born.  Genesis 6:9 tells us that Noah was perfect in his generations.

Now let’s flash-forward to modern times, the days of GRIN technologies.   That’s an acronym for Genetics, Robotics, Information and Nano technologies.  It’s the vehicle of the Human Enhancement Movement, which the Horns document is heavily promoted by government and industry.

Examples of GRIN technology, some existing while others are in the planning stage, are human/animal hybrids, genetically modified foods (such as the addition of an insect gene into salmon DNA), a soldier who takes orders from a digital implant and the connection of human minds together into a hive mentality/super computer.

Don’t get the idea Forbidden Gates is solely concerned with technology gone awry.  The title itself refers to the concept of spiritual gateway.  A gateway provides a means of moving between the physical world and the spiritual.  Jacob’s dream of a ladder between earth and heaven is a positive picture of this concept.  A drug trip that allows humans to interact with demons is a negative example.  Some feel that when Adam fell, God closed gateways for man’s protection.  It appears that certain technologies, biological and otherwise, are succeeding in opening dangerous gateways.

This brings us to one of the subtitles of Tom and Nita Horn’s book — The Dawn of Techno-Dimensional Spiritual Warfare.  Things are changing fast.  Transhumanists, who are trying to redesign man to improve on God’s product, say we are approaching a Singularity when change is exponential and irreversible.  The Horns are afraid that as man is redesigned he may lose his humanity and his ability to connect with God in the process.  It’s not the kind of legacy we want to leave our children and grandchildren.

It’s best to understand and address these concepts now.  Forbidden Gates wakes us up, so the Christian community can influence government policy before it’s too late.  And it encourages us to wage spiritual warfare in earnest.
