Beef over Chick-fil-A's public defense of traditional marriage is continuing, with supporters deeming Aug. 1 a national appreciation day for the chicken sandwich chain, and critics vowing to never eat there again.
Monday, the market research firm YouGov found that Chick-fil-A's brand index score fell 40 percent since its president Dan Cathy said his company was "guilty as charged" of funding groups that support traditional marriage.
The company's health was previously rated at 65 out of 100 but now stands at 39. The score averages measurements for quality, impression, value, reputation, satisfaction, and willingness to recommend.
Yet, business still seems to be doing well at Chick-fil-A stores across the country.
More than half a million people have said they plan to support Mike Huckabee's Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day set for Wednesday, Aug. 1.
Evangelist Billy Graham and his son Franklin Graham both said in statements that they plan to visit a Chick-fil-A to support the cause.
Others have voiced their support on social networking sites.
On CBN News' Facebook page, Becca wrote, "Ate there last night to support them and I let the Manager know why I was there. I bought extra to take home and ate it for lunch today. God Bless Chick Fil A!"
Pattie added, "There are plenty of companies that support gay marriage. Why is it wrong when a Christian stand[s] up for what we believe in? The world is twisted. Calling good evil and evil good."
And CBN News viewer Hugh even said he plans to visit Chick-fil-A for the "first time ever" to show his support.
Meanwhile, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel have said they don't want Chick-fil-A franchises in their cities and are hoping to ban the business.
