Regent Univ. Challenges Birth Control Mandate

Regent University, founded by Rev. Pat Robertson, has joined the legal battle against the contraception mandate in President Obama's health care plan.
On Wednesday, Regent filed an amicus brief along with the American Center for Law and Justice, which claims the mandate forces them to violate their religious beliefs or pay significant fines.
Wheaton College and Belmont Abbey College are two other schools challenging the President's history-making legislation.
After a federal judge ruled the lawsuits premature and dismissed them, both colleges filed appeals with the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to reverse the lower court decisions.
The Health and Human Services regulation requires group health insurance plans to provide birth control at no cost to consumers, including drugs that induce abortion.
Will this mandate ultimately be defeated in court? CBN News spoke with Jeffrey Brauch, dean of Regent University Law School, about Regent's decision to challenge Obamacare's birth control mandate and whether it could be overturned, on CBN Newswatch, Oct. 12.
