“Use your prophetic anointing to decree against every spirit that would trod over you—even a Jebusite spirit that would mock and pollute your destiny.  Resist it,” says the Lord, “and stand as the captain you are called to be.”

  Prophetic Scripture:
2 Samuel 4:7-8 – Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion:  the same is the city of David.  And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain…

The Jebusites made Mt.Zion in Jerusalem their stronghold because the tribe of Benjamin didn't drive them away as they have been commanded to (Judges 1:21).

For 430 years they dwellt in a land that was promised to the children of God. Moreover, they were in Mt-Zion, the city of the living God.

No wonder the first thing David did as King of Israel was to declare war on the Jebusites and retake Mt.Zion. David who was a man after God's own heart felt the righteous indignation of God.

After taking Mt.Zion, the next thing he did as king was to get the ark of the covenant of God back (the Presence) and he brought it to Mt.Zion. The first attempt went awfully wrong as he tried to do it mechanically (cart) but the second try turned out to be very glorious (carried on shoulders).

Lessons to learn:

1. Drive out right away what God orders us to drive out (i.e. bad habits, vices, negativity etc.) or else it will become a stronghold that will eventually mock us.

2. Blind and lame Jebusites have been repelling (mocking the people of God for 430 years) may symbolize those who do not see in the spirit and are not walking in holiness nor walking the walk of faith. Non-visionaries will kill the vision of those who see in the spirit so we ought to be careful to whom we share our vision. Lame are those who may have been hurt by somebody in church and have stopped walking (backslidden). They tend to mock and ridicule those who are continuing.

3. The water shaft is the way. It is the lifeline of the Jebusites. Defeating the Jebusites is by cutting of its life source.

4. David wasn't intimidated by their taunting eventhough his forefathers "allowed" them to stay by not dealing with them.

5. Before one can expect the Presence (Ark of the Covenant) , make sure that all strongholds of darkness have been destroyed in our lives. How can one expect the glory of God if one has walked in compromise allowing the Jebusites to stay. We have been commanded to drive them out so we must not allow them to stay.

Jebusites are illegals in the spirit. They are squatters in our promised land. Nevertheless, they are there because of disobedience, compromise, and apathy in the part of the people of God. As far as God is concerned, they are not supposed to be there. Thus, they have become an eye sore.

Yes to driving out the Jebusites. Afterwhich, let us get ready for the restoration of the tabernacle of David.

I propose instead of "escaping" the Jebusites, let us deal with them head-on and drive them away!
