"Underpaid, under-equipped and under-appreciated." That's how many members of the U.S. military feel, according to a new survey by the http://www.militarytimes.com/story/military/2014/12/07/ameri cas-military-a-force-adrift/18596571/ - Military Times.

The survey of 2,300 active duty troops found morale has declined sharply during the last five years, and most servicemen and women believe things will only get worse when it comes to their quality of life.

"Most people that join the military join on the recommendation of somebody who has already been in the military," CBN News reporter and former Army Ranger Chuck Holton said.

Do many troops feel they no longer have a mission? Holton talks about this and more wth CBN News's Mark Martin.

Holton said he sees a "reticence to recommend the military" from those in the active duty.

"I can no longer recommend that a young man join the military, and that's simply because of the leadership," Holton said of himself.

"The military is being turned into this great social experiment and they're not being allowed to go out and accomplish their mission - which is to defeat the enemy," he said.

"Now they're being told, 'You have to defeat the enemy, but you have to do it without actually offending them,'" he said.
