Pastors LaRue and Anna Adkinson of the Houston Revival Center offer an update and a praise report of the ministry being done for the victims of Katrina that have been housed at the Houston Astrodome. We are excited to hear about the more than 2,000 evacuees who have come to the Lord in one week and are glad to share the report with our BCN readers.

The Houston Revival Center is just one group out of the many Believers who have given their time and effort, money and in some cases, shared their homes to minister and help those who have endured such devastation. Many times these ministries are crossing denominational lines and working together with other area churches and businesses. An example of this is the "S.O.S. Food Bank" in Braunfels, Texas which works with 14 different churches, civic organizations, businesses and the Salvation Army to feed Katrina victims and local needy families.

Of course there are non-Christians helping as well, but truly the Church is stepping-up and answering the call to show God's love to hurting people. Let's continue to do so while the "heavens are open." Please visit our website (www.breakingchristiannews.com) for a listing of some of the ministries helping Katrina victims. - Aimee Herd, Breaking Christian News.

Report from Anna Adkinson, Houston Revival Center:

I wanted to give you an update and personally share with you a little bit of what we at Houston Revival Center have been doing since our new guests arrived here in Houston. We have been going down to the Astrodome, Reliant Center and Arena with teams, virtually every day and night, to share the love of Jesus. It has been an amazing two weeks for Houston since our New Orleans guests have arrived. My husband Pastor LaRue and Caleb (visiting from Tulsa) made their way down there two Saturdays ago and found the Medical Triage in the Reliant Arena where a small ministry was based called City for Jesus. Over the past week since joining our teams with theirs, we have prayed with the evacuees and have already led over 2,000 people to the Lord with over 1,000 of them having rededicated their lives to Christ.

We have had so many, many "one on one" prayer opportunities in asking the Lord to reunite them with their children, husbands, wives, parents, and provide them with housing, jobs, transportation, etc. These people have been so open to the Lord and amazed that we came down there to show we care about them. We have seen many miracles taking place all around us. It's like we are under an open heaven of the Lord answering our prayers.

We've hand delivered over 200 toys and clothes of all sizes to the children, countless bibles, shirts, new tennis shoes, slippers, sweat-shirts, shorts, pajamas, undergarments, socks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, Listerine, etc. We would pray for a lost family member to be found and within minutes, they were calling the person just prayed for ... we've asked the Lord to provide new homes for these people and Houstonians were coming in and inviting them into their homes. One man from our team met on Friday night with a man whose arm was in a cast as a result of his saving lives while in New Orleans was throbbing with pain. One of our team members prayed for him and he was instantly healed. The pain was instantly gone and he knew he wouldn't need surgery. (More...)
