Thank you once again for the clarity of the trumpet: it is SO needed to focus us on the TRUTH about the kingdom.
Paul in Colossians 1 said that the divine stewardship entrusted to him was to make known the glorious truth, the mystery hidden for ages and generations: Christ within and among us, the hope of glory. The Amplified Bible puts it like this: Christ within you, the hope of realizing the glory.
So much has been said and done when we were in the old wineskin mentality about the glory and our desire for it but we now understand by the Holy Spirit that as long as our focus is on the external, we miss the awesome power of CHRIST WITHIN: this is where the true heart of the kingdom lies.
The divine entrustment to us is to present every person mature full-grown, fully initiated, complete, and perfect in Christ by the superhuman energy which He works within us(Col 1:28-29 Ampl.)
I was travelling when Todd wrote an open letter to the body of Christ and when I returned last week, I was led by the Holy Spirit to e-mail him: although i appreciated his heart intent which came through in his letter, about not being a source of offence to the body of Christ, i felt strongly that the hour has come when GOD HAS TO BE ENOUGH FOR US.
A divine mandate has been given to us from the Father who actually picked us out for Himself in Christ and in Christ blesses us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm, given by the Holy Spirit. He planned for the maturity of the times and the climax of the ages to unify all things and head them up and consummate them in Christ, things in heaven and things on the earth.
We as God's heritage have been entrusted with keys to this eternal kingdom where Jesus rules as King. The Holy Spirit is the guarantee and it is only the complete surrender to Him that will allow Christ to be seen and not us.
As amazing as an outpouring is, it is but the outer rings of movement similar to that seen when a pebble is cast into a pond: the ripples spread out and are evidence of an event that happened, that caused energy to enter a still body of water - but the ripples are not the source. The outpouring is evidence of the presence on the earth of Jesus Christ in a surrendered body of people.
In seeking any other validation of the supernatural move of the Holy Spirit or in accrediting an outpouring we allow the mixture in us to be seen. In our old wineskin mentality that is externally based, we seek to preserve the sovereign movement of the water that we experienced by our own methods and we resort to formulas, packaging, marketing, validation, authentication - all done in the traditions of man.
We fail to recognise the need in us to preserve our own legacy through that which is new by placing our name on it or giving our approval to it. Rather than embracing the change that comes with a sovereign outpouring of the Holy Spirit necessitating a new wineskin, we seek to layer the old wineskin with the veneer of that which is new: the fragrance and shine is superficial and will last for just a few seconds before the cracks in the old leather are seen. The inability of the old wineskin to contain the new wine will result in it bursting and being forced to end its existence. The price for this resistance is spilt new wine.
We must never forget that the precious Holy Spirit is God and as such He is sovereign. He has come to reveal Jesus but the gentleness and meekness. love and compassion that reveals His nature must not be misunderstood as Him being at the beck and call of us, the redeemed. Touching what is His work, attempting to harness it for our own agendas, naming, claiming and tagging the evidence of His overwhelming love for us is a sign of our immaturity.
It is time for us to come to maturity. It is time for us to die to our own way.
Paul said: We shared in His crucifixion, it is no longer us that lives but Christ. Failure to live like dead men prolongs the mixture and Christ is not seen. In sharing in Christ's death, we died to the Law and all the Law's demands on us, so that we may live to and for God (Gal 2).Failure to remain dead men alive in Christ, activates the demands of the Law on us and brings death to the abundant life that is our inheriance in Jesus.
In Colossians 3, Paul said: if then we have been raised with Christ to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead, we must aim at and seek the rich, eternal treasures that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God and set our minds and keep them set on what is above, not on the things that are on the earth.
For as far as this world is concerned we have died.
Our new, real life is hidden with Christ in God.
Hasten the day Lord when we will stay dead so that Christ may live and breathe in us.
Love always
