Kingdom Age Giving and Receiving
By Ron McGatlin
Praise God! Seek Him and His kingdom with all your heart. Great authority in the Spirit is coming forth to those who truly love Him and are called according to His great purposes. The whole earth trembles before Him. His army is arising and will leave the charred land of the fallen world to enter the fresh new fruitful garden of the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven (Joel 2:3).
Psa 96:9-13: Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth. Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns; The world also is firmly established, It shall not be moved; He shall judge the peoples righteously." Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; Let the sea roar, and all its fullness; Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the LORD. For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, And the peoples with His truth.
Massive changes are ahead as we continue to move from the age of institutional church systems and godless secular foolishness into the kingdom emphasis age. Nowhere are the changes greater than in the area of funding and provision. Many foundational kingdom teachers are on the way walking in the Spirit and demonstrating the character and nature of Christ. Their purpose is to set in place the new kingdom ways.
However, before the kingdom teachers are the prophets of correction proclaiming a return to holiness and a turning from wickedness and mixture. Repentance prophets are speaking, and it is only doom and gloom for those who will not hear and will not bow to the manifest holy, ruling presence of God among His people. Tremble before the mighty hand of God and turn from the foolish deceptions of godless secularism, pleasure seeking, and religious life without the manifest presence of God.
The new kingdom ways will bear little resemblance to our past ways. The basic principles and motivations underlying the way we think and live will be very different. The real manifest presence of Christ Jesus in the Spirit as Head of His assembled people and as the King of His kingdom is changing everything. Over time the old ways and systems fade into oblivion and are replaced by the kingdom of God ways that were designed by God in ages past to be brought forth in a prepared people.
The full restoration and return to the kingdom of God on earth is not a short-range project. It began over two thousand years ago. There may be some giant leaps forward from time to time, but the final reality of all the kingdoms of this world becoming the kingdoms of our God could yet be some distance ahead, or it may be closer than we think. The great thing is that those who are willing can fully experience the kingdom now. Groups and gatherings in agreement can also experience the kingdom in a real way now. The progress of manifested kingdom is moving forward by leaps and bounds in this day. The kingdom coming forth in people and in groups or gatherings is drawing others into the real kingdom and helping them to grow in the spiritual reality of God’s kingdom.
A Fresh Pattern for Life
Eventually, mankind will no longer look to history to guide in shaping the future but will look to God for the present and the future. Religion will no longer function to order culture and the lives of the people. At some point there will no longer be religious rules, rituals, or practices. The pure-hearted, holy people will have their spiritual eyes opened to see and their ears opened to hear the will of God in all things. Holy unto the Lord will become the way of life.
Segmented and compartmentalized life will be done away. Family, business, ministry, and all other previously separated parts of life will become seamlessly joined. The King and His kingdom will be the paramount focus and purpose for all facets of life. The paramount kingdom of God focus will change all aspects of culture including the function of giving and receiving in business, ministry, education, entertainment, governing, and more.
Giving and receiving are core elements of culture.
Giving and receiving is an intricate part of culture. Everyone gives and everyone receives. This is a fundamental interaction between people or entities. People give of themselves in money, goods, services, and other less tangible or spiritual ways. People also receive of others in the same ways.
Secular and religious-based giving and receiving
In secular and religious-based cultures, labor and skills are given at a job or business with the expectation of receiving proportionately in some form, usually a paycheck. Taxes are given to governments out of legal obligation according to the laws of the land, and social or communal benefits are expected to be received. Tithes are given to institutions out of assumed religious legal obligation and benefits such as priestly functions and others are expected. Offerings or alms are given to institutions or individuals out of compassion for the individuals or for the function or cause of the organization with the expectation of individual or communal benefit to individuals and the community. In self-focused secular and religious culture, a form of relational love or affection is given and a response in kind is expected in return. In all aspects of life, there is giving and receiving. It is a fundamental part of interaction between people.
Giving and receiving in the kingdom functions differently.
In a true kingdom the king owns everything. All the assets and wealth of the kingdom belong to the king. The king has complete authority over the use of everything and everyone in the kingdom. In a kingdom the people are subjects of the king.
A benevolent king seeks the well-being of all his loyal subjects. A wise and benevolent king gives portions of his assets into the hands of individuals in his kingdom to manage for him. The people fully realize that they are not the owners of the assets but managers for the king. The family of the king has special place, though they are still subject to the king. Sons and daughters of the king are heirs to the kingdom, yet all assets in their hands including their ruling authority ultimately remain the property of the king.
This is exactly the way it is in the kingdom of God on earth. When we are born into the kingdom of God, everything we have and all that we are belongs to the King. That is why it is our reasonable service to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God (Rom 12:1). We and all we have are His, and we are not our own. We were purchased with the price of the cross of Christ Jesus, the first born and only begotten Son of God (1 Cor 6:19-20).
Uniquely, in the kingdom of God, loyal subjects have the opportunity to become sons of the King. It is the King’s desire that many sons be brought to this glorious position as joint heirs of the kingdom, ruling and reigning with Christ Jesus (Heb 2:10-11) (Rom 8:16-17).
Ultimately all giving and receiving in the kingdom of God is to be according to the will of the King. As loyal servants or sons, we are required to disperse the kings assets that are in our hands to others when, where, and how the King desires. All is to be used to further the initiatives and desires of the King. A faithful subject who uses the King’s assets to further the kingdom in accordance with the King’s desire and direction will be given more to manage for the king. An unfaithful subject who diverts the use of the King’s assets to some other purpose of his or someone else’s initiative will not be in favor with the king and may not receive more of the King’s assets to manage for Him. Even what the unprofitable subject has will be taken from him and given to another who will use it in accordance with the King’s desire and direction (Luke 19:12-26) (Mat 25:14-30).
The King’s desire and directions must be communicated to the servant or son.
In a natural kingdom it is too difficult for the king to personally instruct and oversee each individual subject’s management activities. Therefore, natural kings make laws and rules that are published to communicate the will of the king to the subjects. Trusted officers of the king are instructed to train overseers to instruct subjects in the laws of the king.
If a person comes into the kingdom from another kingdom, they must be retrained in the laws of the king. Bringing part of the rules or laws into the new kingdom from another kingdom will not be welcomed in the new kingdom. It is important not only to receive the rules and laws of the new kingdom but also to dispose of the old from the previous kingdom.
In the kingdom of God, there is a unique relational communication system. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit, it is possible for every servant or son of God to have continuous access to communicate with God. The King has chosen to abide within and among the faithful subjects of His kingdom. The Spirit of Christ by the Holy Spirit will indwell all who abandon the old ways, lay down all their self-governed life, and come to God with their whole hearts.
In the kingdom of God, there is a management training program for new subjects. The primary objective of the training is to bring them into intimate relationship with the king through the Holy Spirit. Coming from the Babylonian kingdom their minds must be renewed to the ways of the kingdom of God (Rom 12:2).
Much of the fallen world’s philosophy found its way into the church systems of past centuries and seemingly continues to increase its affect. Therefore, those transitioning into the kingdom of God require cleansing from old religious ways and the fallen world’s ways.
In addition to the infiltration of the world’s ways, religion also erroneously brought some of the laws and customs regarding giving and receiving from the other side of the cross into the church. On the other side of the cross, the people did not have the kingdom within them. The Holy Spirit did not indwell them to bring the character and nature of Christ within them to guide them in all things. God’s chosen people functioned by law.
The Holy Spirit came upon chosen men to deliver God’s law to be written and passed on to the people. The laws were rules and standards to establish a minimal requirement of respect for and worship to God. The laws and rituals looked forward to the coming Christ and were only a shadow or picture of the kingdom that was to come after Christ came to redeem man and re-establish the kingdom of God.
The laws and rituals were to be done away with when the real kingdom was restored in Christ Jesus. The veil was rent, and the potential for intimate relationship with the Father through Christ Jesus by the Holy Spirit was established. Animal blood sacrifices were replaced with the once and for all sacrifice of the blood of Jesus. The priesthood changed; it was no longer needful for a man (priest, vicar, pastor etc.) to go to God for the people. Christ in the people by the Holy Spirit restored the priesthood in those who believe. In the kingdom there is truly one mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus (1 Tim 2:5).
Giving and receiving changed forever for all who are redeemed in Christ. Our lives and all we have now belong to the one who bought us. No longer does the law prescribe our giving a portion to the temple or church system. It is all His, and Christ Jesus by the Holy Spirit directs the use of our lives and all that is in our hands according to His desires.
In the kingdom we do not give of ourselves and money or possessions to get a return to meet our needs or to fund our ministry. We give according to the direction of the King for His purposes and desires. We serve the King and manage His assets for Him according to His desire and direction. In the kingdom we do not give love to receive love in return. Love in the kingdom is unconditional love from God and for God and for our neighbor. We work to meet needs of others and the kingdom. We do our best in whatever area of productivity the King has assigned and empowered us to serve in. In so doing needs of all are met. This is seeking the kingdom and His righteous way of being and doing with our whole heart.
Mat 6:31-34: "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

I have been aware for some time that my way of handling the resources and situations given to me, even though in very small amounts at this time, is being tested with a view to future responsibilities.  He who is faithful in small things, being given more.  I find that sometimes the tests are in things which seem so small, they could easily be overlooked as insignificant... but actually the response is extremely significant in determining which kingdom we will serve.
An example was that I was given too much change at the rent office the other day.  I was tempted to keep it, almost without thinking, as this was the normal thing I had grown up with, and it had always seemed a quite innocent thing to do, even seeing it as God's blessing in the past.  But on this occasion I knew that my actions had a very significant bearing upon the future.  I pray fervently every day for God's kingdom to come, and yet, when tested like this, which kingdom would I choose?  The temptation to choose the world's way was there right in my hand.  It was like being at the thin end of a wedge, in that the decision I made at this point would determine the decisions I would make with much larger stakes in the future.  The sowing and reaping principle came to mind.  So, would I decide to choose God's way in this very small thing or not???
Thank you Ron for this article.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Hi Ron,

I have a question which has been bugging me for some time.  Having sought to trust Jesus in his above words, and having come to experience this for myself, I am wondering what our response should be to our brothers and sisters who are starving in other parts of the world.  We are clearly called to share what we have with those less fortunate than ourselves, but how do these words of Jesus work for them?  It says somewhere that the righteous have never been seen begging for bread.  ???  But we do see our brothers and sisters begging!!!  So, are they not righteous?  Is the problem to be approached through their end or ours?  I mean, is their righteousness and seeking first the kingdom the issue here, or is it our giving that is to resolve the problem?

By way of example, there is a request on the prayer forum today from a young man in Pakistan.  His family are in financial difficulty, as a lifestyle, and he is asking for help.  His belief is that if he gets a good education and gets a good job then he can support his family and meet their needs.  He is asking for help, and as this request has been put on the prayer forum, so we pray.  But is prayer enough?  What is the help that is actually needed?  What should our response be?  Send money?  Discipling?  Is sending money enough?  If discipling, then how in situations like this?

Hi Mandy,

i don’t fully know the answer to this, what i do believe is that we as a family of Christ need to look after those who are our brothers and sisters first BEFORE we feed those outside the body, that is not saying we don’t feed the ones who don’t know Christ but there is a serious problem when we have brothers and sisters who are part of the body who are desperate, who fellowship with us and are taking massive strain financially etc.... would i give to a stranger if my brother was dying of hunger ?

i have a feeling that the financial crisis will do just that. those who have will start to share with fellow family members who have lost all or who have very little.

it basically boils down to "who’s stuff  is it anyway?".

is it ours, or is it Gods?

Good question Mandy. The needs of the people of the world are massive. Especially, if you consider the need to know Jesus along with the physical needs. I remember years ago when in the non Spirit filled type church I was in that some would preach a powerful guilt message about our sin of omission by not getting all the people saved and others about feeding all the starving. Guilt kept us repenting for being a sinner every day because of our sins of omission.

You see, we did not know that we were responsible for intimately relating to God in the Holy Spirit and receiving our instructions and empowerment from Him. We are only personally charged with what the Holy Spirit directs us to do. The Body as a whole is to go into all the world and preach the gospel (of the kingdom) to all people. Our part is to hear God and obey.

Obviously, the first problem is that we have been preaching the wrong gospel. Or at least and incomplete gospel. And for the most part we have not yet learned that the purpose of our job or business it to meet the needs of people with what that job does. For the most part Christians are still believing that a job is to earn money for making a living and for funding ministry or giving to the poor. Those are all good things that job and business does. But they are NOT God's primary purpose for our activity of work or business. It is what the actual work does to meet needs. Whether it is farming to grow food or building a house or teaching math or cleaning houses or manufacturing goods or preaching the gospel of the kingdom or whatever, the primary purpose is producing food or shelter or educational needs or goods or whatever that people need. The very same as ministry is for meeting the needs of people and not earning a pay check.

Seeking the kingdom and righteousness does not mean just praying and reading the Bible it means hearing and obeying. God puts desires in our hearts and gives us passion to do his bidding. The kingdom is coming forth and people are more and more thinking about how their whole lives and all their productive labor is ordered by the king to meet the needs of His people and the world around us.

So Christian people often forget to get their instructions from God and move instead by what seems necessary and right about occupation or profession.

It is not our part to judge whether the people are righteousness or not our part is to hear and obey. Of course the great problem is than many Christians do not hear or obey. The Bible word gives us roads to hear on but we must hear from God by the Spirit.

Our human compassion and love for one another causes us to desire a good life for everyone. And we do have a part in serving and providing for others. However, that part is what God puts in our hearts by the Holy Spirit to be and do. Sometime our human compassion can take us away from the purpose of God for us. We can take the King's assets of our life, strength, and what we have and get into God's way with it by dispersing it according to our human compassion and not according to His direction.

So the short answer is hear and obey.

amen and been there and done that!..on more than one occassion. Took me a few..yearrrrss  to figure out the difference between His compassion and my human compassion and love for. : ) as i lay flat on my back, over exhausted..i thought `what's wrong with this picture?'  which He actually dealt with me concerning for quite a long time. my personal opinion, especailly as women, we don't want to see anyone hurting and so will come to the aid of, or rescue and it be flat in opposition to His Kingdom.  As Ron has shared here Mandy, the Rest is in hearing and obeying God by His Spirit.

great question Mandy and great response Ron!

Thanks for the responses there Andrew, Ron, Kathy and Gayle.

Andrew, yes I agree, but my question was regarding our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world, not unbelievers.

Ron, I guess I'm more concerned at this stage about our response to such things as the body.  Yes, I'm in total agreement with what you say about listening and obeying.  This is easy as an individual, but what about our corporate united response which will have far more weight behind it than the accumulation of our individual responses?

I couldn't get away from the sense yesterday that, again, this is a time of testing and that our responses at this time will pave the way to shape the future (the idea of being at the thin end of the wedge again, so to speak).

What we have tended to do to a great extent as the church, is firefighting, or as Kathy and Gayle have put it, responding with human compassion and human wisdom.  The fact that we have been preaching a false or incomplete gospel, as Ron put it, is probably the cause of much of the problem we see.  But I see that the fundamental need is actually discipling in the kingdom, which is a body thing, not as individuals.

Ron, you said:

The Body as a whole is to go into all the world and preach the gospel (of the kingdom) to all people. Our part is to hear God and obey.

My part in obeying God at the moment is to raise the question, what are we, as the body, going to do?  Can we pray regarding that?

I am not totally sure exactly who you are referring to as "we". Perhaps you are referring to the Body as a whole or those reading this thread or perhaps OpenHeaven.com as a spiritually connected group along with the thousands who stop by from around the world? I think because it is spoken on OH forums that the latter is the case.

The greatest and most basic need as you pointed out is to make kingdom disciples unto the Lord. Yes, the real gospel of the kingdom needs to be preached and taught in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Our nation is headed into serious change toward becoming as a third world nation. Why? Because we as a nation have not only lost the old fashioned truth of the gospel of salvation and holiness but we have failed as a nation to move into the gospel of the kingdom. All poverty and starvation in the world stems from a lack of the kingdom of God manifesting in the people. This is the root cause of starving and slaughtered peoples around the world . Even natural disasters are related to the lack of real kingdom of God living among the masses of people that causes imbalance to the natural systems of the earth.

Disobedience in not really seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness is sin and sin is at the root of all evil including starvation, disease, wars, severe storms and on and on. Therefor the most fundamental thing that can be done to change the rotten conditions of the world is to preach and demonstrate the kingdom of God. A true kingdom of God world view can change the world. My call in life is to be a part of bringing forth the gospel of the kingdom that can change the hearts of the people of the world and thereby change the world. That is why we do this website and have written and published five books sending thousands free of charge to people around the world and that is why I produce and send a weekly email publication to over 8000 email subscribers. We are currently receiving and average of 70,000 hits per day from 3000 to over 4000 visits per day. Many of the people receiving from this ministry are pastors, teachers, prophets, apostles, and missionaries and many are in the wilderness experience of their lives. The word of the kingdom is being preached in the world. I will be participating in an apostolic roundtable with 23 other forerunner apostolic leaders for four days in September. There will also be a larger group watching and a couple of forum sessions for them to ask questions.

This is what I am going to do and am doing about world conditions. This is the will of God for me now at this time and as an apostolic visionary that is the primary focus of what I believe the Lord has given for OH to do.

Do you have something regarding more immediate relief in mind toward feeding and helping believers who are in desperate immediate situations? What is God telling you? Do you have some specific thoughts on making kingdom disciples?

An additional part of the vision of OpenHeaven.com is connecting people and ministries. We seek to publish on the internet information, reports, needs, and hundreds of links to kingdom and revival type ministries as well as all the current apostolic and prophetic teachings and words regarding the kingdom of God from many people and ministries.

As far as the immediate needs for relief and discipling OpenHeaven.com republishes material and request for support from several organizations that are involved in relief ministry. World Vision among others is primarily feeding those in desperate need but also providing medical supplies and other needs.

OpenHeaven.com receives multitudes of request for relief help and requests to come teach them from people in India, Africa, Pakistan and other places. Often these people are requesting help in feeding orphans and widows or training pastors for their many churches. Many of these request are for funds but we have no means of verifying and often they are not legitimate. That is why we only publish material and request for support from those we actually know personally or those like World Vision who have a well known quality reputation. Of course many relief organizations are on Christian TV and some secular TV who are doing a lot to help with the desperate immediate needs of people. Three very good ministries that I know personally are working in Uganda, Kenya, Mozambique and other places are Prepare The Way Ministry - Bill & Linda Campbell, Advancing The Kingdom - Cliff and Julie Pash, Iris Ministries - Heidi and Rolland Baker. You will find reports and information on these in the
http://archive.openheaven.com/forums/forum_topics.asp?FID=19& ;PN=1 - From Around God's Network Reports .

Speaking for OH that is what is being done. As for as the Body there is some kingdom disciple makers out there now but I believe as we continue to put the word of the kingdom out there and others pick up on it there will be many more real kingdom teachers preaching and demonstrating the kingdom. When I first began hearing and then preaching and writing the the word of the kingdom over twenty years ago there was only a few other men on the planet that were hearing and beginning to preach the word of the kingdom. Now the Lord has many kingdom men and women worldwide. I believe it is time for an explosion of the word of the kingdom to come up all over the world. What are you hearing about all this?

Hi Ron,

My comments were addressed to us who visit Openheaven.com, as being believers who have been awakened to the reality of the kingdom and who are seeking to walk in the fulness thereof and to bring this fulness into the world about us.

Thankyou for sharing what you and Openheaven.com are doing.  It is good and encouraging to hear all that is being done... this is brilliant... and I thank God for all this.  My question is, can we achieve even more through a uniting of all of our individual bits?

Yes, I agree with what you have said about the reason for the current deteriorating state of the nations and, like you, I see that the fundamental need is to make kingdom disciples.  But, in the meantime, I recognize that there is still the need for firefighting, until we all come to that place of walking in the fulness of the kingdom... and I thank God for all the Christian organizations who are faithfully doing this.

You asked:

Do you have something regarding more immediate relief in mind toward feeding and helping believers who are in desperate immediate situations? What is God telling you? Do you have some specific thoughts on making kingdom disciples?

No, nothing regarding more immediate relief.  Nor any specific thoughts yet on making disciples, yet this is the area which I'm sensing the greatest need for advancement at this time and am praying regarding my part in all of this.

But, I come again to my thought regarding whether there is more that can be achieved, by an increased "coming together", or coordination (?) maybe, of all the 1000s of individuals who visit here each day?  Sorry, my words are insufficient to explain the thought well, but I hope I'm getting the gist of it across.

Mandy, o' so well do I relate to what you have been asking, as I am sure many others here do as well. Ron has surely expressed the heart and Truth of what believers are responsible for, and yet we yearn for more responsibility, soon realizing that accomplishments for the Kingdom come by way of God's Spirit and not by our own might or strengths(either individually or corporately).
Here again, 'the righteous will not be found begging for bread', doesn't specifically mean that the righteous will never be physically hungry. We are just as equally responsible for the believer, as for the unbeliever, yet many times we wrestle with the weight of it all, even after Christ has revealed and tells us that HIS yoke is LIGHT.
As Ron and others have so obediently explained the ins and outs of living Christlike, it really comes down to serving obediently in the present 'sphere' of our relationship and responsibility. I have found this to be a principle of Truth. Meeting the close and immediate needs of both believers and unbelievers, will soon blossom, and I have witnessed both 'spheres' expand, God's Provision for that expansion and of the expanding territory that requires my faith to blend with actions.
No one human will be able to fully explain the depth of all this, only God's Spirit can and will, when the time and timing is appropriate.
One thing to remember, hungry believers need only to feed on the true 'bread of Life', then sharing with the unbeliever. The unbelievers hunger is both physical and spiritual, and if they die without the 'bread of Life' they will be dead forever. So if believers 'feed' them with both physical and spiritual 'bread', then God's Spirit is there to bring Provision in both realms.
We all are connected in this journey, and each one must earnestly desire first to accomplish their role in the area they have been planted, then God will expand the 'fields'.

For HIS Glory,
Jake

Thanks Jake, it's good to know others can relate to what I'm talking about

It's struck me too about the two realms of hunger (both physical and spiritual), in that they seem to go hand-in-hand.  Where I am, people are satisfied with natural food, and this seems to be reflected in the spititual realm. Whereas, those who are desperately hungry cry out for help, and this demands a response.  I see what you're saying, but I'm asking God where he wants me to put my energies... where I am, with those who are satisfied and disinterested, or with those who know they are hungry and desperate for help.

Thanks for sharing,

Mandy
