WAIT and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he
who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless,
spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the
self-surrender that accepts the blessing]. -Isa 55:1

The invitaion is to the thirsty, to come to the waters. To come, buy and
eat — to buy with no money. What is being bought and eaten?

Quote:
Buy the truth and sell it not; not only that, but also get
discernment and judgment, instruction and understanding. -Prov 23:23

Diligently seek the truth as one would seek hidden treasure -Mt
13:44;Prov 2:1-5

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me. -Jn 14:6

Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. -Jn 17:17

And He [further] said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I [Myself] will give water
without price from the fountain (springs) of the water of Life. -Rev 21:6

Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your
earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat
what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness
of spiritual joy]. -Isa 55:2

The invitation is to the thirsty, the hungry - but it does not say to eat
and drink whatever is set before you. EAT ONLY WHAT IS GOOD, only
what the Lord Jesus Christ sets before you Himself!

You must distinguish[to divide; separate, discriminate, differ, select, set
apart] between the holy[apartness, holiness, sacredness, separateness]
and the common[unholy, profane, common, sand], between the
unclean[ethically and religiously impure] and the clean[pure physically;
clean morally, ethically] … -Lev 10:10

Do not labor for food that perishes! Seek the bread of heaven, the one
true bread, Jesus the bread of life. Keep His commandments and live.
Guard His teachings as the apple of your eye, as your most prized
possession. -Prov 7:2

Guard your heart, eat only what is good, for from it flow the springs of
life.

John 6:24-35 So when the people saw that Jesus was not there,
nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to
Caper’na-um, seeking Jesus. 25 When they found him on the other side
of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26 Jesus
answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, YOU SEEK ME, NOT BECAUSE
YOU SAW THE SIGNS
, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27
Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures
to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God
the Father set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to
be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of
God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him,
THEN WHAT SIGN DO YOU DO, THAT WE MAY SEE AND BELIEVE
YOU
? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the
wilderness; as it is written, `HE GAVE THEM BREAD FROM HEAVEN TO
EAT
.’” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not
Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true
bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down
from heaven, and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “LORD,
GIVE US THIS BREAD ALWAYS
.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread
of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me
shall never thirst.

Matthew 4:3-4 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the
Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on
every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

Proverbs 4:20-23 My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely
to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your
heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to the whole
body. Above all else, guard your heart, for from it flow the springs of
life.

Notice John 6 — what Jesus told those seeking a sign. Power, miracles &
signs and wonders will not be ‘THE SIGN’.
True bread is the sign.

“Lord, give us this bread always.”

Famine of Hearing

Amos 8:11-14
Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord GOD,
That I will send a famine on the land,
NOT a famine of bread,
NOR a thirst for water,
But of HEARING the words of the LORD.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD,
But shall not find it.
13 “ In that day the fair virgins
And strong young men
Shall faint from thirst.
14 Those who swear by the sin of Samaria,
Who say,

‘ As your god lives, O Dan!’
And, ‘As the way of Beersheba lives!’
They shall fall and never rise again.”

***
The judgement for not eating the true bread{not discriminating what we
eat} — seems to be a famine for hearing the words of the LORD.

It’s not a famine of bread, it’s a famine of hearing …

The true bread is pure, tried and tested; it contains no mixture.

Psalm 12:6
The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the
earth, refined seven times.

They shall wander … They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the
LORD, but shall not find it. ……

***

Mark 4:24-25 NKJV
Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same
measure[measuring rod, standard of judgment] you use, it will be
measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. 25 For
whoever has[takes hold of, eats], to him more will be given; but whoever
does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

Mark 4:24-25 AMP
And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of
thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure
[of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you--and more [besides]
will be given to you who hear.

25For to him who has will more be given; and from him who has
nothing, even what he has will be taken away [by force],

What you eat affects what you hear.
