On the first day of the week after the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were going to visit Jesus’s tomb. When they arrived, they were greeted by an angelic messenger who told them that Jesus was not there, “for He has been resurrected, just as He said.” (Matthew 28:6, HCSB)

As I read this account of Jesus’s resurrection, the phrase, “just as He said,” stood out. The angelic messenger was referring to the fact that Jesus had told them of His departure and also of His return on the third day. Perhaps this was to ease discouragement and give them hope. Events transpired “just as He said.”

Although our circumstances and situations are different today, we still serve the same God and have the same Savior that we read of in Scripture. His character and ways are unchanging. He still speaks to us today, giving us hope that we might not become discouraged. Things will always be “just as He said.”

His words are true. We can count on them simply because He has spoken them. We must remember His words to us, both those written in the Scriptures and those He speaks to us today. They will come to pass “just as He said.” He desires that we appropriate all of His words in our life.

All of His words written in Scripture are “yes and amen.” His promises are true and His message is trustworthy. When we live by His words and apply His words, we are drawn nearer to Him and our lives are changed.

The Lord also desires that we remember the words He has spoken to us today, both the words He has spoken to our hearts and those spoken through His servants, the prophets. These words are bursting with the potential of His desires for us. He loves us and wants to encourage us to move forward in His purposes.

We can trust our God. After all, He did send His only Son as a gift and sacrifice for us. He wants us to join Him in His work here on Earth. He doesn’t wave a magic wand over our lives so that things are just done. He speaks from His heart and then waits for our response to Him.

In this season, He is waiting on our response to Him.  He longs for us to trust Him and desires that we more forward with Him.  He's waiting on us.

What’s your response to Him? Do you trust Him? Do you trust His words?

Remember, it is “just as He said.”
