The alleged gunman reportedly surrendered after talking with school clerk, Antoinette Tuff, who kept him from going out by the children, prayed for him and ultimately talked him out of carrying out his rampage. The clerk is being hailed as a hero. Antoinette spoke with Diane Sawyer on ABC's World News, Tuesday night. "I give it all to God," said Antoinette. "I'm not the hero." "I realized that…it was bigger than me—he was really a hurting young man—so I just started praying for him," said Tuff in the exclusive interview.
According to the report, the clerk had conversed with Hill, sharing about how she'd come through her own life struggles, and that's when he admitted that he hadn't taken his medicine. Antoinette then asked Hill to lay his weapons down. "I told police he was giving himself up. I just talked him through it," she said.
