From North East India: Miracle Outpouring

Shillong Times Article and Photo

Miracle Cross: The faithful throng Malki Presbyterian Church since Tuesday 1:40 am to witness the unusual light surrounding the Cross. The believers consider it as power of the Holy Spirit as part of the revival spreading Khasi and Jaintia Hills. For the past few days, students in various schools were losing their consciousness for reasons, the believers attribute to the presence of the Holy Spirit. It is said that the fortunate lot encountered blissful moments with the Holy Spirit. Tuesday night was an occasion for the believers to experience such presence and spend the night in the church praying to Jesus.

Sep Sang wrote:

School kids are hit by a wave of the Holy Spirit while attending secular classes. They fall down, cry, repent, seek God's power to preach, tell that the entire school must repent, see visions of Jesus and angels and heaven and hell and Book of life. Schools have to be shut down.

Also happens in Nursing College hostel, Arts and Science College, Higher Secondary School. On the road a girl fell down after returning from a revival meeting in Nongstoin village- and she had to be brought back to the church building.

One girl whose mother is a alcohol maker/supplier remained unconscious under the Spirit's power. She insisted that her mum must stop alcohol business. This family in non-Christian. They are tribal animists.

Students faint, church attributes it to spiritual revival

By Our Reporter

Shillong: The "revival spirit" spreads to Shillong schools on Thursday with a few cases of girl students fainting during school hours. At least 30 to 40 students of All Saints' School of class VII and VIII fainted and some of them were taken to All Saints' Church for the advice of Rev PB Lyngdoh, who is the Vicar of All Saints Church.

According to Rev PB Lyngdoh, the revival proclaiming the coming of the Holy Spirit is spreading across the Khasi and Jaintia Hills. "We also heard such reports in rural and urban areas of the State including Laban and Mawkhar," Rev Lyngdoh said.

"These are signs of the Holy Spirit and there is nothing harmful about it," he said.

The usual trend is that the girl students faint for a while, and when they regain consciousness, they feel better. "They are happy to be with Jesus and these are signs of good things," Rev Lyngdoh said.

According to him, the happenings are beyond the human power and these cannot be neglected as sickness of the mind. He informed that besides the Khasi, Jaintia and Garos, two Bengali girls had similar experience on Thursday. There were reports that the revival spirit also affected school students of the Laban Presbyterian Higher Secondary School.

It may be mentioned that the centenary celebrations of the revival that happened in 1906 at Mairang was observed on April this year. It was from here 100 years ago that Christianity spread to Mizoram. After the centenary celebrations, there were several reports that the revival spirit also spread to the people in Sohra, Lumparing, Lawsohtun, Nongkrem and Smit area.

From Sep Sang
sep_sang@yahoo.co.in

Please pray for this revival to continue.

More incidences where children fell down on the road. They were taken back to the nearest Presbyterian church buildings/hall.

One bengali Hindu girl was touched by the Holy Spirit at her school. (1).She has been attending the Laban Presbyterian church meeting since Friday (31st august 2006).

(2) One Bihari Hindu boy was 2 things
(a) Hell

(b) a Big Book. But neither his name nor his parent's were in that book. He then came to know that unless one believes in Christ, then his name will never be in the book. And those whose name is not in the Book will go to hell. On Monday at 7 PM some believer has gone to give the family some counselling

(3) On monday 4th September, revival broke out in a Buddhist school, at POLO GROUNDS SHILLONG(near the JAWAHARLAL NEHRU STADIUM)-( Address FOREST COLONY).

(4) This happens mainly amongst the Presbyterians. It does not take place in the charismatic groups.

(5) Presbyterian pastors and elders/deacons are called to the schools to minister.

(6) charismatic pastors and elders/deacons are also called to the schools to minister. There is harmony amongst the two denominations.

(7) Mawngap Presbyterian church has been having a revival wave since March/April 2006 or even before that

(8) A Hindu girl in a school in the POLO area o Shillong saw a vision and said "handsome.. handsome" The hindu mother asked "who is handsome?", she replied its the man she's seeing in the vision. The mother asked who is this man, and the girl replied "YESHU".

(9) All these revivals start from schools. Most are presbyterian, but even Hindu and government(not affiliated to any religion) schools.

(10) RAM KRIHSNA SCHOOL in CHERAPUNJI(the world's wettest place- with the highest rainfall) also experienced revival. This school is based on the philosophy of SWAMI VIVEKANANDA who believes that all rivers lead to the same ocean. So they keep pictures of Jesus, celebrate Christmas, read the bible but also perform hindu rituals. Its a pluralistic theology.

(11) one person manifested the demons by crawling like a snake

(12) others cry "i am Lucifer" etc.

(13) At homes also kids just get into revival. They scream and fall down

(14) some op the Highlights are : No 1. Its "repentance" of the kids. All seek forgiveness of sins

(15) Another highlight is that "Jesus is coming soon"

(16) only 2 or 3 pages are left in the bible. all is torn off. so only a few chapters are left unfulfilled.

(17) They saw one of Jesus ' feet on the planet earth already- the other is still in heaven(maybe????)
He's already had a touch-down.
His full landing is not far away.

(18) IN most cases, the kids will remain unconscious unless and until each and every member of the family agrees to repent. Even if one member is not willing, then the kid get back into an unconscious state

(19) They pray for "power" to preach the gospel

(20) The kids insist that the relationship between mother-father needs to be restored. This is a common theme. Parents feel shy since kids pray out loud on this kind of matter. The kids seem to reveal everything.

I guess its been 7 years since Bonkke's visit to Shillong. At That time Presbyterians did not join the charismatics for Bonkke's meeting. Attendance was relatively thin - though the state has about more than half a million Christians. Mostly only charismatics attended, and some hindus. As far as we know only 1 hindu got saved (and is still strong). Other hindus came and went off. But now God's favor is not on the charismatics but the Presbyterians.

Reported by a dear sister in Christ, Pifeli.(Cathy)
9/6/06
This is the Northeast India section. It looks as though it is not a part of India. It is surrounded by several other countries (Bhutan, Burma, Bangladesh).

Nongjiri is a village, poor one for the most part, consisting of perhaps 100 families. It is in the State of Meghalaya. Capital is Shillong. Most Northeast people are more Asian type than regular Indian type. Most use to be head hunters 100 years ago.

100 years ago revival started among the Khasi people who are forever looked down on. Then it went to the Mizos, some Manipur and some Assam. Also 100 years ago there was a severe earthquake. With the last revival 100 years ago there was also a false revival in Mizoram.

Now you will find people all over the Northeast area have been going back into their ancient practices. Even here in my little section there is a lot of poisoning going on. Hospitals are helpless on the ones who come in mysteriously insane so they send them home and even more witchcraft is practiced. I feel it is a build up of sin, church leaders are proudful and ignoring the spiritual side of life and children are not raised godly. Sounds a bit like America.

This is a revival among the children and teens mostly. But most church leaders are confining it into the church buildings only and only prayers can be done by them. Nonetheless, God will touch whom He knows will heed it. A lot of demonic is starting to manifest and it is being swept under the carpet. We all know that means it will show up again after enough has built up!

All prayer is appreciated. It is fascinating to watch. Schools are closing down because when all the kids get together for assembly many start praying, singing and falling down. Since most schools are Catholic ones they have trouble coping with it. Apparently kids are having visions and the Lord is saying He is coming soon and His doors will be locked soon. He tell them to tell their parents to repent and to come back to Him...

Already the government has warned North Assam of a likely large earthquake to come in the near future. Barometric pressure has suddenly dropped without reason and that they take to mean a big one. God warns. The government warns. Soon there will be no more warning but stark reality...

Blessings Prayer Warriors!

This evening we will be going up the mountain into our village to see the revival going on. There has been rumors of revivals breaking out in different villages and half our workers stopped coming this week to work so when we asked why we found out they are almost all going to the revival. Each night since Saturday we've heard them singing a lot and it isn't like when they are practicing for a program so we will go and join them tonight and perhaps each night as the Lord is moving.

We've prayed since we've bought the land that the Lord would bless this area as He did years ago with a true revival. Nongmya was the first and the youth were going there (the next village up which is a really bad one) and it is in Nongjiri so we really want to be a part of it.

Please pray for permanent changes to take place in the lives of these people as well as my people in the home. Mapuii is excited but some of the others look a little fearful. Anyway, they will obey and go with us when we take them!

To God be the glory! I'll update you tomorrow.

There is a true revival going on up here in little Nongjiri! God is so good! Repentance and much prayer. Seeing into the heavenlies and seeing the glory of God. Preaching by many and most all the surrounding schools have closed. When the kids go to school it turns into prayer sessions and preachings! I'll keep all of updated on it. Sounds like it has come down from upper Shillong. It started Saturday night and is now into the 5th day.

Blessings Prayer Warriors!

Revival continues here in Nongjiri. There are other churches being effected but not the Catholics. We have invited the nuns to come with us to the Nongjiri church and one old one is keen to come so please pray they all will want to.

Last night the demonic started manifesting and the church leaders (Presbyterian) don't know how to work with it. They don't really know anything spiritual and are being proudful so a lot of prayers need to go up or else I'm afraid things will stop soon. It became very evident that they were turning it into a happy Sunday School time and trying to rule over what the Holy Spirit was doing. We have offered to help but they don't want any at this time.

We will go up tonight again. One friend's wife is Catholic and won't attend there so we will try to get her to go with us. She told us she would go up so if we get her she may do so.

Please pray that the leaders will humble themselves in a proper way and allow the Lord to work properly. So many have turned from their wicked ways but here no one understands the workings of the Holy Spirit and they seem to think Jesus started the Presbyterian Church and therefore man's laws must remain.

More later!
Pifeli

SHILLONG - Today, during daytime I got the news that revival had hit the students of All Saints School which is located right in the middle of our city, Shillong. This school is run by the Church of North India, formerly known as the Church of England. We went to witness what was going on.

I met the principal who's also the Bishop of the church and on inquiring he told me that today in the morning just before the starting of the class the students of the higher secondary classes were hit by the power of God. So instead of taking them to their class they were taken to the chapel which is just above their school building. It was already late in the afternoon when I and those with me went in that chapel. There were people, largely students, their parents, school teachers and some onlookers and there were singing and some noise of shouting and praying going on.

On closer observation I found two young female students lying on the ground. Some people were hovering around them praying for them. I missed what had gone right from the morning but with these two girls it apparently appeared to me as if they had gone through some experiences earlier. As such some people were trying to ward off the power of the enemy and some were asking them to confess Jesus as their Savior and Lord. I passively tried to intrude but it seemed they were too busy with what was going on. After some time those girls regain consciousness and sat on the benches as the rest of the students were singing and leading songs of worship.

I and those with me went and sat down on one of those old big benches. On the bench in front of us were some people bending on one side and praying. There was another girl there lying down and they were actually praying over her. She seemed to be totally without strength with hardly any movement, her eyes swollen with tears. After some time they helped raised her up to sit down. And although her parents and others were there trying to help her she never uttered a single word. She couldn't. Only stream of tears would swell around her eyes and roll down her cheeks. She seemed totally lost in another world.

After some songs one of their prominent church members stood up and made an announcement that those who would want to continue to stay could stay otherwise they were free to leave since the parents of some students were waiting for them. As we left the chapel the students were still singing.

This is but just one report of what's happening here. It has been a couple of months now that people in the Khasi and the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya are experiencing a wave of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Almost every now and then the local TV news reports of such occurrences in this region. It started with the centenary celebration of the hundred years of revival that had hit this very land.

Some months ago as the Presbyterian Church was preparing to commemorate the revival that had taken place in Mawphlang area in the East Khasi Hills, there was also a great anticipation among the Christians in general and lots of fervent prayers and intercessions were being made for it to happen once again. And this indeed did happen. First it started right on the ground where the celebration meeting was going on. Then subsequently news began to pour in that it was happening in different places but especially amongst the Presbyterians and that especially among the younger generation.

Then we heard that students in a school in Silchar in Assam were experiencing the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The school authorities not knowing what was happening actually had those students taken to a hospital. Some people and pastors from Shillong visited that place while some learned about it when they were watching a national cable news channel based in Delhi. Not being able to ascertain this strange phenomenon the channel carried the news headline calling it a "Mass Hysteria". Of late such occurrences is happening not only among Christians gathered in church buildings but also spreading among students in schools.

Today as I was in that chapel and worshipping the Lord there was a phone call on my cell phone from Ladrymbai in Jaintia Hills, a coal-mining region. A brother from a church where I occasionally visit was on the line but before he could say anything he heard the songs in the background and inquired if I was in a meeting. When I told him what was happening, he quipped by saying that the schools there in Ladrymbai were also experiencing similar move of God.

This is spreading wider and wider now.

As you rejoice in reading this news please continue to pray for the work of God here, especially that the church leaders and those of older generations would also come under the power of God and that this would spread to every Christians, churches of all denominations, families, every institutions, governments and everywhere else.

The prophecy Joel prophesied in Acts 2: 16 - 18 is being fulfilled.

May His Kingdom come! Amen!

The Revival has been spreading to many beleivers of different communities and denominations. One of the first happenings in the schooll was from All saints School, which is CNI. Then to some of the many presbyterian schools and from the 6th of September the revival came to New Generation Revival Church, a strong charismatic under the pastoral ministry of Rev.Dr.Bat Kooper Dunai. On the 7th it got into their school called Shinning Light School. On the 8th the revial broke out in Mizo Modern High School Madanrting. The revival flames also got into the UPC Church in Firebrigate, Shillong, and then on to some Church of Jesus Christ. Now it continues to the Marwaris and Bengalis, Nepalis , Garos and other communities of different denominations. Praise the Lord.

I had the privilege of ministering to the Hostel where one Tripuri boy got the fire of the Holy Spirit and since last Friday every night prayer meeting and Bible study is going on in this Hostel.

It is our prayer that all the state will experience the live changing power of  The Holy Spirit and it will continue till it reaches the whole NE India and many countries around NE India.

Subject: Massive revival in Meghalya - More News

Dear Friends,

I want to give you more info of the revival in
Meghalaya which is touching so many people
irrespective of religion, race, caste, age or gender.
It has really rolled from about the 1st september and
continues today with so many wonderful news, people
turning to God, etc.

For those to whom the info from me comes for the first
time I am enclosing some of my initial impressions
recorded on 11th Sept below. If you would like
pictures please let me know. Attached are the letters
from the daughter of a close friend of mine.
God bless you all,

Barkos Warjri

11 August 2006

Dear Michael,

Massive revival, more, much more than they asked or
think has broken out in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
It has been so powerful that the churches there are
still reeling from its impact of especially the last
ten days.

I first saw it when I visited Shillong in the first
week of August as my mother-in-law underwent a
surgery. I visited the Laban Presbyterian Church on
5th September 2006 and saw a completely different
service. There was no programme yet there was no
confusion. There was no law to sit or stand or clap or
raise hands, yet it was all in order. In the closing
prayer I heard something that I had never heard
before, an instant sound which I thought was rain, so
even yet so intense. I looked up and realised that all
the people had simultaneously broken out in prayer,
and two weeks I remembered a verse of the voice of
many waters (Rev.14.2 & 19.6). It felt like they were
beating on heaven's door. It was uplifting, and all
this, in an orthodox Presbyterian church.

Beginning 1st August God seems to have poured out his
spirit without any holding back. It looks like he has
overturned the barrel and it is hitting like a dam
broken. Children are prophesying, young people are
seeing visions. The demons also seem to have come out
full force and the battles are raging. The streets are
however peaceful. No drunkards, no fights, just young
people singing even rather late at night. The midweek
meetings in the churches are full -- no place to sit.
In fact all churches are now having daily evening
meetings.

I am also enclosing here photographs of a miraculous
sight in the church I grew up as a child. It happened
on 5th September morning early in the morning at about
0045 hrs when the church was full with people singing.
A young boy shouted 'Jesus, Jesus, look Jesus,' and my
nephew who was sitting near the main door of the
church building ignored the shout thinking it was one
of many people seeing visions. When an excitement
picked later, he shocked, when he looked up, to see
the cross above the pulpit shining and showing what
appeared to be the form of a man on it. Stunned he
called his mother (my sister) who rushed immediately
to the church and who called me, dazed and shocked at
0150 hours. I could not get a wink after that. I was
too excited by the virtual running commentary I got
after every half an hour. I wanted desperately to see
what would happen at daylight, if it was a play of the
lights it would be normal in the morning. Instead it
became clearer as the sun rose and remains so till
today, 11th August.

It is a wooden cross covered in sun mica and there are
bulbs behind it which light up the wall background and
silhouette the cross starkly against the wall. Now
however, it is not merely the background that is
bright but the wood itself which is normally very dark
in contrast to the wall. The view is seen only from
the central door of the church and not from the sides
or near it. From any other direction it looks as
normal as on any other day. I am attaching snaps which
show this as well as the normal view.

I also read amazingly similar experiences in the
Korean revival in 1907 and the Welsh revival of 1904.
One man also described a 'sound of a falling of
waters' in a church in Korea.

When God does the work it simply floors us. He is
beyond what we ever comprehended, and... beyond the
boxes we tend to put Him in.

Love
Barkos

15 September
My Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for the wonderful time we had in your house sharing our joy about the miraculous work God is doing in our homeland and the surprises He has in store for us. I would like to share with you some of the events and our thoughts which we are trying to document.

Events of the last fortnight have gripped our attention. You may have not read of them in the news but they have been God's answer to the prayers of believers in Meghalaya, the NE Indian state we come from. You may have heard of the Welsh revival of 1904. The same spirit spread to the Khasi and Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya in 1906. My grandfather was born in that year and had some stories to tell me of the faith of our ancestors. The Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Mission had sent missionaries to these hills early in the 19th Century. They won the first convert about the year 1846 and then set up the Presbyterian Church, which grew to become the largest denomination among the Khasi-Jaintia tribe. This church had been praying for another revival and in the centenary celebrations to commemorate that event, in a village called Mairang (where the revival broke out in 1906), in the month of March this year, there were fervent prayers accompanied, I believe, with a strong hope among some, that God would indeed do something new.

Soon after, the revival fervour picked up in some villages. It did not move to the urban areas for several, months. When I had occasion to visit Shillong, for a week, in August, I heard some inspiring stories about what God was doing. There were some miraculous incidents which took place, and which encouraged many to a renewal of their faith.
On the 3rd August I heard of interesting developments in a church in Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya. Daily evangelistic meetings had begun in the church from the 10th July. From the 13th July there was a preacher from the Mizo tribe (from the state of Mizoram). He could not speak English so his messages were translated into Khasi. (The Lingua Franca among the different peoples of NE India is mainly English among the educated or Hindi). The enthusiasm was such that the preacher was asked to continue for another week, which he did, having no scheduled programme then. From then on the daily services continued. I visited the Laban Presbyterian Church on 5th August 2006, and saw there a completely different service from what I had been used to in the Prebyterian environment. I was struck by the contrasts between the lack of a proper scheduled programme and the evident order. There was no confusion. The first thing I noticed on entering the evening service was that some people were standing while some were sitting as they were singing. It was evident that there was no rule to sit or stand or clap or raise hands, yet all was in order. 'Let us all rise' and 'Kindly be seated' were conspicuous by their absence.

Another thing was very evident, there was an unusually large number of children and youth for an evening service. They were the ones who were most active in the singing as well as the prayers. The singing continued for an hour after which testimonies were shared followed by a sermon. Half the congregation responded to the altar call. During the closing prayer I heard something that I had never heard before, an instant sound, which I thought was rain, so even yet sharp and intense. I looked up and realised that all the people in the front of the church had simultaneously broken out in prayer, and two weeks later I remembered a verse of the 'voice of many waters' (Rev.14.2 & 19.6). It felt like there was a spontaneous laying siege of heaven. (I was not really surprised when I read a description, a few days ago, in similar terms of event in a church during the Korean Revival of 1907).

It was uplifting, and this, in an orthodox Presbyterian church! The praying and singing went on for another hour after the benediction, very few choosing to leave at that point. Through this extra hour the children were delightfully active in group prayers and singing, walking around in an open space in front, where several pews had been removed to make an open space.

Beginning 1st September, however God seems to have poured out his spirit without any holding back. It looks like he has overturned the barrel and it hit the church like a dam which had broken. Children are prophesying, young people are seeing visions. School administrators were shocked to see children break out in prayers, songs, or falling down unconscious. This happened in school after school, often during the morning assembly, or even during classes. Children were also taking their Bibles to school at no one's bidding. At one school, a catholic school, a teacher (I know him well and spoke to him a few days ago), while taking a class noticed that there were a few small slips of neatly cut paper with the hand-written words 'Jesus Loves You.' He asked who had done it and a boy stood up. He stated that he wanted to do it and that he wanted to pass on similar messages, which he had with him, to as many as he could. He could not say why he did it beyond the urge that he had, to do so. The teacher was taken aback for a few moments; the boy comes from a Marwari family, who are strict Jains and would not have heard the gospel in any substantially coherent form.

The demons also seem to have come out full force and the battles are raging. In school after school, and church after church stories of spiritual struggles abound. In one school, a girl who was undergoing such a test recovered only after her mother, a pagan, most reluctantly agreed to burn the amulet her witch doctor had given her just a few days ago. The burning was followed by frightful screams and wails by that mother. I heard this from a pastor friend who prayed for the girl.

Interestingly, the streets are peaceful. No drunkards, no fights, just young people singing even rather late at night. The midweek meetings in the churches are full -- no place to sit. In fact all churches are now having packed daily evening meetings. A friend whom I spoke to yesterday said that they could not find even a place to sit though he and his family had reached the church 15 minutes before the afternoon service, last Sunday (10th September).

Last evening I spoke to a girl who had just returned to Bangalore from Shillong, and she told of the reconciliation in her family. Such was their joy that she took two days off from college in the last weekend and flew to Shillong to join her parents and siblings. For the first time they were praying as a family.

There are countless such stories of repentance, reconciliation (a divorced couple close to our family got back together last week), forgiveness and renewal. There are also the miraculous.

One thing I could no longer be skeptical about, was the unexplained illumination of the wooden cross in the church I grew up and where my parents still live. It happened on 5th September early in the morning at about 0045hrs when the church was full with people singing. It sounds strange, but events had picked up in this church throughout the previous day that it was not possible to stop the unscheduled singing and praying which started on the morning of the 4th September from about an hour before noon. My nephew heard a young boy shout 'Jesus, Jesus, look Jesus,' and he and his friends, who were sitting near the main door of the church building ignored the shout, thinking it was one of many people seeing visions. When an excitement picked up later, he looked up and was shocked to see the cross above the pulpit shining and showing what appeared to be the form of a man on it. Stunned, he called his mother (my sister) who rushed immediately to the church and who called me, dazed and shocked at 0150 hours. (I usually switch off my mobile phone at night but that night I knew I had to keep it open). I could not get another wink after that. I was excited by the virtual running commentary I got after every half an hour. I wanted desperately to see what would happen at daylight. If the illumination was caused by an effect of the lights it would be normal in the morning. Instead it became clearer as the sun rose and remains so even till today.

It is a wooden cross, covered in sun mica and hollow behind. The bulbs behind it light up the background and silhouette the cross starkly against the wall. Today even as I write, it is not merely that background which is bright. The wooden body itself remains bright with the x-ray-like image still present. The view is seen only from the central door of the church and not from the sides or near it. From any other direction it looks as normal as on any other day. It became, I am afraid a sort of idol for some time until the church leadership came out clearly on the matter. Even then it has not stopped countless people streaming in to see it, especially non-Christians. There are also several testimonies of people who have been touched by simply entering the church building and who know that it is God who has done something to them. I would be able to send you photographs if you would like so.
The events have opened my eyes to the immensity of God. He just seems to have burst out of the box. When God does His work it simply floors us. He is beyond what we ever comprehended, and... beyond the boxes we tend to put Him in.

Pauline and I felt inclined to share our joy and, at times our moments of sheer stunned silence with you.

God bless you, and once again.

Yours Sincerely,
Barkos Warjri

Blessings!
My tooth is still not fixed. The dentist spends her time telling me about the latest manifestations going on. 2 hours the first talk we had. I explained about manifestations.

Today I took Mapuii for root canal work and the dentist gave me a cd about the cross manifesting and they show the angels also. Now her church (Presbyterian) has gold dust and such falling from the sky onto the people as they leave the evening services. Others are having strong moves of the Holy Spirit. Last night people watched the full moon as angels flew down from its light and sprikled the dust over the Labang Church.

Pray! Lots going on around Meghalaya!
Pifeli
p.s. still my tooth is not tended to!

My letter addressed to Michael Twilley needs some correction. The last word in the 4th paragraph should be 'September' not 'August'. The earlier part in the same paragraph has been corrected. The mistake was mine.

Kindly correct it

Thanks

The Gold Dust mentioned by Pfeli

The gold dust (I am not sure we can call it ‘gold’ but it is definitely something shiny) first occurred in Malki Presbyterian Church on the night of 6th September at about 10.30pm. My sister, Bethesda (48), at that time was on the pulpit as she had taken some friends who wanted to see the miraculous shining cross in that church (the cross started shining two nights before, on the night of 4th/5th from about 0045 hours on 5th September).

Children were singing on pulpit at that time. They suddenly shouted, “Angels! Angels!” and they were pointing towards the ceiling.

She immediately looked up, saw nothing and with deep concern started praying quietly, “Oh Lord, don’t let them go overboard. Please don’t let them get into any form of hysteria. Please save these children from going too far.”

She looked up again and saw the children reaching up towards the ceiling and saying, “Pdiang, pdiang ki kti!” (In the Khasi language it means ‘take out your hands and receive’), and ‘Ki khlur, ki khlur!’ (meaning, ‘stars stars’).

None of the adults saw anything but children seemed to be thrilled by what they saw (or thought they saw). My cousin describes seeing sheer joy on their faces as they reached out to the heavens. My 15-year-old niece who was in the church lawns at that time also heard the shouts and she also reached out, though she saw nothing. Two other nieces, my cousin’s daughters, Haphi (12) and Babet (9) were also there, the first in the veranda of the church and the younger inside. They saw nothing but reached out any way.

The next morning my niece showed my sister some bright dust on her palms. My cousin Annalyne (39), also saw the same on Haphi’s and Babet’s palms. The dust would not wash off even after scrubbing with soap. When I spoke to my sisters and nieces on the morning of the 9th September, my cousin called to Haphi, as she was holding the phone, and said, “Come here Haphi let me see your hands.” “Yes! They are still here a lot of them,” she said as she inspected Haphi’s hands. Haphi was the one with the most. My cousin had even tried to pick them out from Haphi’s hands with her nails but they simply would not come off.

The bits of dust were silver in colour, and fine like flour. You would notice them when they reflected the light. They were clearly not sweat or moisture, as a good wash did not affect them. Bethesda noticed them very clearly in bunches on Mabel’s neck and hands when Mabel came home on the 8th September 2006. Mabel works with my sister in her school, and she is about 35 years old. On the evening of  Saturday the 9th September 2006, she saw the dust in big concentrations on two workmen’s hands, even the back of their hands. These workmen had just come from the church, as they were working there. Note, these two men had not gone to the church building to worship but to carry out some repair works. On Friday 29th September 2006, Bethesda found that her hymnbook was bright with the dust, it is still shining today, 5th October.

Similar dust fell on my brother-in-law and those with him as they were singing at home and praying on 8th September. They heard our neighbour saying, “Come quickly, See! Something is falling down.” When he came out he saw some fine dust floating down at one spot only. They floated down looking much lighter than snowflakes. He had the dust on his hands and clothes.

I see in the picture sent by Reuben that the dust also seem to be big, maybe in clumps.

How do we explain this? How do you explain the manna? How do you explain a few ‘crazy’ people speaking in several foreign languages? I do not know what to say. It seems we just have to watch and see.

HEAVENS OPEN

The call came at 2208hrs on 20 October 2006. The message was short and curt. I was asked to call an old college mate in about twenty minutes. His name was K… I knew he was involved with a lot of Bible Studies and counselling and praying for people during the current revival. It could only mean one thing. There was some important news. An SMS from my sister came. ‘Any news?’ she asked, as if she was also sensing something. There was nothing yet, I told her. I called up K… after twenty-two minutes. The mobile phone was switched off. I waited thinking that he must be talking or praying with people. His phone was still in that position even after 45 minutes. I decided to call another number where I knew I could catch him. He had just left.

My wife’s cousin decided not to keep me on tenterhooks any longer. ‘Angels,’ she said. ‘Angels appeared in Smit, but please get the full details from K… who was there. I called up K… this morning and got the story.

On Thursday, 19 October 2006, he had gone to Smit to give a Bible Study. A young girl from Sohra area who had been seeing miraculous visions had come to meet him that day. She went along with him to the Bible study. Bible studies are no longer small group meetings in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills these days. They are more like crusades. The church building was full and so were the church lawns. The young girl with visions had given her testimony, and had said that God would do wonderful things that night. God had been doing so many wonderful things that people half expected what would happen. That night, however, it was something a bit beyond the ordinarily wonderful things they had been used to. It was not simply a response to God’s word or miraculous visions (which are usually poured out to dozens of children nowadays). Heavens would open.

Towards the end of the meeting at about 9 pm, the congregation was singing a song, which had become very popular during this revival, ‘The Angels Sing.’ Suddenly there was a noise and commotion outside. The young girl with many visions said, “ Let’s go out, God is going to show something to you.” The people outside had seen a bright light like lightning. The heavens towards the north seem to part and all saw what looked like hills, and then a rainbow (it is 9 pm at night). Then there were screams and shouts like, ‘Here, here,’ ‘There, on the right,’ ‘Look there on the left.’ There were angels all around! People fell down in fear and shock. Some walking on the road dropped to their knees (some bottles of liquor were found the next morning).

K…, who had come out of the church building, took out his mobile phone and switched on the video camera. A big angel swooped down right in the path of the lens. My cousins who saw the picture on the screen last night were still shaken even two hours later. They could see the wings and the clear shape of the body. Angels are something we read about and hear of. Not beings we actually expect to see. The people stunned by the appearance could only scream, bow down or cry, while those inside continued singing. All this was captured on K’s mobile phone video.

There was only one big angel, the one who was caught on K’s camera. There were however, a host of small angels flashing in and out of view. It sounded, to me, like the story of the herald angels announcing to the shepherds, the coming of Jesus.

In the meantime the northern sky continued to play like the side stage. A bright sword appeared, and then a bright cross. A senior pastor married to my aunt, came out of the church building. He had been sceptical during the initial periods of the revival. “What do you think of this?” I ventured.

“Think of what?” he asked, “I saw it with my own eyes! I saw the northern sky towards the Himalayas, and there was this bright cross, clear and bright up there. I was not alone! Several of us saw. Then I saw another cross, closer.”

I had recently had a long conversation with him when I visited Shillong. I sensed he was speaking in another vein. However I could not resist probing a little more. Knowing him to be a thinking pastor, an intelligent and bright student, I asked how this fitted in to his theology. “Do you remember what Joel said? What is written there is happening. These are miracles,” he said, “When God does miracles how can we explain? These are beyond human explanations. I have seen and I believe.”

I remembered those who do not see and yet believe.

I had spoken to three eyewitnesses. They were excited, but how much can they be excited when God seems to be literally pouring out his Spirit all around?

Two weeks ago the same pastor had met a young boy of seven in a remote village. He had become unconscious one day, and had a vision. When he woke up the pastor asked him what happened. He said he had been to heaven, and as with many children who had visions of heaven or Jesus, he said that he did not want to return. Jesus had told him that he had to return for now and the boy had reluctantly found himself in the company of ordinary humans like this pastor. When asked if he had anything to say to anyone, he simply said, “Read Matthew 3.2.” Children of seven do not normally think of such verses, and certainly not someone who could hardly read.

Another story was telling in its simplicity. National Highway 44 connects the states of Mizoram, Tripura, and the plains of Cachar to the rest of the country, through the Jaintia Hills and Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. An empty refrigerated truck was returning after delivering its load of fish from Andhra Pradesh, in Silchar. The driver, also from Andhra, stopped at Bapung, in Jaintia Hills, that evening and heard singing from the Bapung Presbyterian Church. Something about the singing drew him to the church. He went and even took part in the singing even though he did not know the language. He left after praying with some of the counsellors from the church.

Yet another, impresses the listener with the same message, which God seems to be drumming into our ears – the time is near. A deacon from the Iewrynghep Presbyterian Church (near Mawlyngngot), in East Khasi Hills, in a vision in his bedroom one night, saw a big angel about to blow the trumpet, but something made him pause and he dropped his arm. Almost all the children having visions repeat this same message, the door is about to be locked, or the book is about to be closed.

NORTHEAST INDIA'S REVIVAL - UPDATE
                    ===================================

Blessings Prayer Warriors!
Pifeli

11/17/06

We went to Guwahati today I found out the hard way that I need new tires and the car jack is no good. Praise God for the 2 men who stopped and helped us!

Tomorrow I go to the dentist to pick up some Bibles she was able to get for me. We will pick up fish for Sunday on the way back because we have some special guest coming. Parag and his mother who are Hindu asked to come so we will fix fish for it to represent them one day coming into the kingdom.
Please pray for Parag and his Mom. His mother had asked for a Bible and has been reading it. We don't know if she told her son or not.

A friend in Guwahati is trying to get us some NT Khasi Bibles. Please pray for Lena to be able to get a lot of them for us. As far as I can tell we are the only ones giving out free Bibles to these people! AAmazing, isn't it?!

Bless you all - Pifeli

...another revival update.

In Jaintia Hills (the other side of Shillong) a church having revival from the beginning is seeing blood coming from the cross on the pulpit. Haven't seen it but one of our villagers said the Khasi papers have been telling about it. The Khasi news papers are mostly Christian owned so they report things better.

We have some more New Testaments through our Khasi dentist in Shillong. She never takes money for them and prefers to be a part of the ministry we are doing. Please pray for Dr. Lana to be very blessed by the Lord. Don't know yet on the Bibles from Guwahati through the Gideon's. We have 2 more villages to go to for distributions.

It's sooo satisfying to serve the Lord! I trust you can all feel it too!

I was able to get my 2 tires repaired today plus a new jack for the van. Please pray I will be able to get new tires soon.

Many thanks and blessings to all of you.
Pifeli

Today is another happy day for me! We went early with Rebecca to a village called Rytiang. About 15 kms from us on the west side of Umsning. Someone had told us they are having revival.

So we went and found it and it was such a blessing. I need to get a lot more Bibles! They are costing a little over $2 each for the full one. The NT is too hard to get so we have the dentist collecting those as she can and we get the full ones.

These people were so happy to get the 24 Bibles we gave and they asked some Holy Spirit questions so we were able to give some teachings while we were there. When we get more Bibles we will go again.

Keep praying! God is blessing and you are all a part of it.

Well Warriors what can I say except PTL!

I took Mapuii up for a dentist appointment in Shillong and we met her brother who was touched by the revival in his church in Mizoram. You can just look at him and tell he is still in love with the Lord.

Then we went to the dentist.
She has been so blessed in getting us NT Khasi Bibles that she did Mapuii's root canal for free too! She had a client waiting after she finished Mapuii but she walked out with me and we talked spiritual things for 30 minutes or so. Dr.Lana is so much in love with the Lord in a serious way and she has now developed a good spiritual understanding as well. She has 2 friends who are professionals and are not believers so I told her about some books I would loan her called Evidence of Truth. There are 5 in the set but now I was able to buy the set for her in Shillong so she will have her own set.

Then we went for my dental appointment and the dentist is a short woman of good nature who works with a man who is from Canada. She told me the tooth I want fixed is fine and shouldn't be touched. Made me think. But I have other smaller fillings and a cleaning to be done and where I have a gap in my mouth she will make a plate. So when I got into the car (van) I looked at the tooth and apparently God has filled it in more than it was which is why she doesn't want to mess with it.

Then.....we went to the OM Christian Book Store. I had a little money left in my account and I wanted some more Bibles. So I met the new manager and asked for 50 Khasi Bibles that sell for Rs.120. Then I explained why and what I was doing and that this other book store let me have them for Rs.100 each. So he said he wanted me for a regular customer so he also would let me have them for that amount. I ordered 100 more for Friday since I have to go there for my next dental appointment.

Tomorrow we will go back to Nongkya (up the road 6 kms) and give them some. Thursday we will deliver the ones for Byrnihat. Friday is Shillong again and Saturday is local market day. So hopefully I can give some out on the market day through a friend. And hopefully on Thursday we can get to Guwahati and get some new tires. Then on Friday we leave the car with the Don Bosco auto center to put them on, align and balance while we go by taxi for our dentist appointment.

Thank you for all the prayers and all the support. I so enjoy serving :^) And soon I won't be popping tires on rocks :^)

God bless you all!
Pifeli

Yesterday (our Thursday) there was a bomb blast at the Guwahati Railway Station. We had gone into Guwahati and purchased our tires for the van. And we praise God we were gone before things happened. Three killed and 11 injured is the last count.

On the way back from Guwahati we delivered 20 Bibles to the Byrnihat Church. We left them with a man at his shop and one of the church elders was there so we were able to met at least one elder with his red pan juice flowing down the sides of his mouth! They love their bettle nut here.

Today we went to Shillong (heavy police duty all around) and I was able to pick up 50 more Bibles to distribute. The dentist visit went well, sort of. They don't inject for fillings so she did one filling with me squirming and will do the next one this Wednesday (I'm sure with squirming!). I'm having a plate made with 2 teeth so that I can chew again on the left side. Please pray I don't squirm so much!

The terrorist are a problem now days so please pray for our safety as we go around attending to home business as well as distributing Bibles in the villages. There are many different groups that link up from time to time to do their dirty work. The word out is that the Bangladesh young boys are being recruited to help them. These are poor people needing money so the militants have what they need.

Tomorrow we will go for the local shopping. Please pray for safety as it is on a major highway and in the past has been bombed.
Sunday I have a couple coming over for lunch and a talk. Khasi culture dictates that they just live together and when tired of one another you go to another partner and don't worry about kids and such. So this young Catholic couple have been together for 3 years and have a child. His mother has chosen another women for him which she wants him to marry. The one he has is our Rebecca and she is a sweet woman. We are on good terms with both so I hope to talk with them and with God's grace see them legally married and happy. Please pray for it!

Monday we will go to at least 3 different villages to distribute Bibles. Tuesday we hope to go to another 3 villages. Wednesday I go back to the dentist and will try to get more Bibles. The new tires help on these bad roads! The place in Guwahati had done alignment but I knew it wasn't done correctly so I had it redone today. It was way off after they did it in Guwahati. The whole time I had to watch everything because the workers were trying to steal things from the car (in Guwahati!). Such is life here. Love them but watch them.

Thank you very, very much for all the prayers. I believe they have good effect.
Cathy

We gave out 20 Bibles today Warriors!

Shillong is having nightly road blocks so please pray as I need to go there soon. As long as it is night ones only we are okay. Guwahati isn't safe to enter right now so....

Thanks for all the prayers!
Pifeli

We have just come in from delivering Bibles in 3 villages. Am I ever glad I have new tires and new brakes on the van! That was God to get it all done because where we went today was way off the beaten path. One village we made it to but couldn't get up to where the church is because the road was too bad. Need a jeep!

Anyways, please pray for all these getting Bibles. We can only give a few to each village and when the next shipment of Bibles comes in then we can go back and give out more.

Villages today where: Mailungrhu, Synku, Umkei. At Synku the road was too bad so we stopped at one house in the village and it happened to be the home of one of our workers wife parents. We had stopped the village bus going out (had to since there was no room for both of us) and met the main village church elder on it who then directed us to whom to give the Bibles. While talking to the villagers I happened to notice chickens hopping into the van! Reni came with his Mom Rebecca to help us and while eating cookies he left crumbs all over so the chickens thought they would clean up after him. Sure wish I took the camera today! The elder we left the Bibles with happens to have a sister in Nongjiri (our village) who is the wife of the first golbara (main headman) we purchased the land through. So it was an interesting and pretty trip though my van might need alignment again!

50 Bibles gone and only 30 Bibles left so when we go into Shillong on Wednesday for my dentist appointment we will try to find some more Bibles.

Tomorrow we will go to Nongpoh for gas cylinder refills and try to find some villages that way that are having revival. More the merrier we are. Praise God!

Thanks for all the prayers and support.
Cathy

We have just returned from Nongpoh. When getting our gas cylinder refills I noticed the dealer had a different type look on his face. We asked him if anyone was having revival there and he said his church was (Pentecostal) and one Presbyterian church. So even though they don't really have any too poor in their churches they have not been able to get any Bibles for the newly saved and we gave our last 30 Bibles to these two churches. Tomorrow we will try to get some more from Shillong (please pray for I also get my last filling done) and order some from the Bible Society.

We will go to Guwahati Friday with Rebecca and stop along the way and have her ask about any revivals going on up and down the way. 50 Bibles cost $115 so I have a hope for getting at least 50 more from one shop we know. But from the Bible Society where I should be able to get a better discount I will have to make a large order. I will aim for a $500 order with them. Please pray they will accept it and save them for me when the shipment comes in.

Thanks for the prayers. They found a bomb on the Guwahati railroad tracks yesterday.
Continued prayer for safety is always appreciated!

Together we make a difference! Amen!

It is nice to hear news from workers in the thick of it. I hope I shall be able to visit some of the places mentioned by Pifeli and Cathy, in December when I will be visiting the Khasi and Jaintia Hills, especially the churches and villages where God has been doing such mighty works.

Meanwhile here is a inspiring story told to me by a pastor who I have known for years, about the experiences of his nephew and nieces recently:

It was Sunday, 5th November 2006, and about 11.00 a.m. Three children, Shan (nearing 8), Linda (nearing 6), and Meda (4) (names changed), were playing throwball and enjoying themselves in the lawn outside their house, just a few kilometres from the Eastern Air Command HQs in Upper Shillong. Their 7 year-old cousin was also with them, when they saw an unusually bright cloud in the sky, which drew their attention. They quickly became quiet, staring in awe, frozen to their places. Something unusual was taking place, but they were strangely not afraid! There on the cloud they saw an unmistakable image of Jesus. However the scene that unfolded before their little eyes was quite different from pictures they might have been familiar with. They saw Jesus, his hands lifted up, with his palms bleeding, but he was not alone. Around him they could clearly see, to their delight, angels. As they looked they could not see but they sensed that something had fallen from the cloud. They could smell a sweet perfume surrounding them but could see nothing around.

A few days earlier, Linda the girl, had gone to spend a night at her aunt’s house in Shillong. There she had a vivid dream. She dreamt she saw Jesus and he had some white bundles with him, which he gave to her. What was in those bundles she did not know, but she received a clear message – Jesus was coming soon. When her father picked her up the next day, to take her back home, she told him that she had also dreamt that she had forgotten the bundles in her aunt’s house.

What the children saw on Sunday, 11th November, was however no dream. They were wide-awake and playing.

On Saturday, 11th November 2006, the children were again restless. It was noon and there was a light rain, which kept them from going out to play. The restlessness was however more than just a playtime problem. Linda, the more expressive of the three, softly complained, “Why doesn’t this rain stop? I want to see Jesus.” Their mother gave them a big umbrella and all the three siblings went out. As they stood outside they saw the sky darken and a strong wind began to blow. (All the three children later described it as a dark wind, which blew fast and hard). As they held each other and clung to the umbrella, they squinted as a bright orb appeared in the sky. In that round light they saw a familiar figure. Jesus was here again! However there was a difference this time – his hands were no longer bleeding. The blood had dried up but the clots could be clearly seen on his palms. His hands were again lifted up.

He had something to give them too. They saw a basket in the sky and what looked like flowers were poured out. The children delightedly ran to pick up the flowers, but when they neared the shower they saw they were not flowers, but shiny dust, which had a strange smell. The dust, however, did not last long and faded off soon. They also saw, what could be translated from the Khasi language as a matchbox (or inflammable powder), which would be dipped in a cup, and cause a fiery heat. Jesus also gave them a clear message – ‘repent for he is coming back soon.’

As they looked up they then saw a door in the sky. They quickly called to their mother to come out and see. She rushed out but as she emerged the children saw the door shut. Linda, even heard the door being banged shut. Their mother saw nothing at all. When their mother complained that she saw nothing, Linda confidently explained, that she and her father could not be able to see, as they had not repented of their sins. Their mother rather disappointed, went back inside the house and as she disappeared the threesome immediately saw angels appear with trumpets. The angels then began to sing a well-known Khasi hymn, ‘Oh, Ka Jingwan Ka Hima Ka La Nangjan’ (Oh, the Coming of the Kingdom is Nigh).

When the vision was over the children told their parents that Jesus would appear again the next day at 12 noon, and also that he had asked them to write down what they saw. All three children corroborated each other’s statements, and when some adults tested the youngest one by suggesting that Jesus would have had his hands spread out she refused to budge and insisted that he had held his hands above his head.

Sure enough, the next day, the 12th November 2006, the children again saw Jesus appear in the sky at the appointed time. This time he gave them a clear message that they must exhort all to repentance. He appeared in slightly different way this time. He had a book, which was opened, but he was not reading it. The cover was towards his face and the open pages were facing the children so they could read them. The book however was held in front of his face so that they could only see his forehead. The older boy, Shan read what was written on the book. It said, “The world is nearing its end and it is very close. His saints will be raptured!” Again the adults could see nothing this time, though several heard the children say, “Look at that flower garden!” Their aunt from Shillong, who was also present, saw a light in the sky but heard nothing. Addressing the adults, Linda notably stated, “If you had seen that you would all collapse.”

The two older children then proceeded to draw impressions of what they had seen. They sat separately as they wrote and sketched. Remarkably both drew similar impressions and wrote the same words. On the top of the page both sketched pictures of angels with trumpets. They also each sketched a road to heaven and drew a cross and a road to hell with many people there. Each also drew a picture of a matchbox and captioned their sketches with the words: “Heaven,” “Hell,” “Trumpet,” “Matchbox.” At the bottom of the page each child wrote the word: “Repent.” They also significantly stated that something wonderful or strange would take place in the year 2007.

What is remarkable and quite different about this series of visions is that all the three children (including a cousin on the first occasion), were fully awake throughout their three experiences and none of them had become unconscious at any stage.

NORTHEAST INDIA'S REVIVAL - UPDATE
Wed, 29 Nov 2006

Greetings and blessings Prayer Warriors!

Today the dentist went better. I prayed hard and drilling wasn't long and filling is fine. I have a partial plate which seems to be doing well. I can now eat on the left side so please pray there are no complications afterwards and that it will remain fitting nice.

We were able to get 25 more Khasi Bibles. The OM Bookstore manager is trying to find us some more. He has called all over and now he is trying in Guwahati. He said the Bible Society has been telling him for months now that they expect a shipment of Khasi Bibles in 2 weeks. That means every time he calls they say the same thing so he was telling us not to hold our breath for a December shipment.

We did go to the Bible Society and I was able to get 200 Gospel tracts in Khasi on how to get saved! So we will be passing these out soon.

Friday we go to Guwahati for doctor check ups on Ringi and Rebecca. Please pray for our safety. We will also be getting the window panes for the church windows. Do pray we can get in and out without having to go through road blocks. The police have them all over for checks.

Thanks for all the prayers!
Pifeli

Yes one of the results of the revival in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills is that there are no bibles available in Shillong or any town. This is usually thought to be a result of persecution, but in this case the cause is the huge demand. The BSI or other agencies would have not anticipate such a sudden spurt in demand.

that is a wonderful reason...I pray that enough bibles get to them without any hold-ups.

Happy, Anointed New Year to all of you!

We went to Mawrong today to purchase fresh rice that has just been harvested. What the villages do is take a certain amount from their crops and donate it to the church. Then the church sells it at a reduced rate to the poor in the village. So since it is a major crop we were told we could come and buy a sack of it.

Of course I couldn't resist the urge to hand out Bibles along the way. Then we gave out at the church also since the outer laying villagers were coming in who often can't get there at other times. We were given two big sacks of rice free! Some other villagers gave us some of their sticky rice as well. Lots of love passed around today.

According to the Mawrong elders only 20 to 30 people use to come to church. Now 1,000 or more come and that is every night. They had the manifested cross in their church. It lasted a month but the revival itself is still going on.

I may have someone to hire as a driver and helper for us here. Please pray as we have not set down and talked yet. Perhaps God is forming a team now. I'll let all of know when I am sure of things.

God bless and let's all make the most of 2007 for the Lord!

Cathy

Blessings Prayer Warriors!

It seems there is no end to giving out Bibles! I love it. We gave out about 200 today.

I would like to ask your prayers for Myrdon (also spelled Mardon) Village. Today we gave them more Bibles. They had village people still there practicing Khasi animism and wild black magic. Now they have all converted to Christianity recently and can have Bibles! The devil will not be happy so please pray for them to have such a glorious testimony as to the Blood of the Lamb that no foe can defeat them.

They needed Hindi and Nepali Bibles so we were able to give some of those. Last night the elders and church committee met to decide who should get the Bibles (besides the ones already given) and the power of the Lord fell on them. They say it is the biggest move yet and the elders who were not touched before are now touched.

We went to leave Bibles in various places so people can take them into the villages we cannot get to in our little van. On the way we were met by some sand diggers (they take the sand out of the water for cement mixing) whom we already gave Bibles to. They wanted more and asked for even more to give the outlaying villagers who come for the water use at the stream.

Do pray because people from all over (foreigners also) are flocking to Shillong. Everyone wants to start their own church or organization or set from their own denominations. I am trying my best to remain quiet with the work here because we are able to freely work within the church set-up. It is now their culture to belong to Presbyterian (they have no idea what it is all about) so to take them out of it for the sake of 'self' (claiming them for your own thing) will split the people and cause more trouble than needed. It is my desire to see more come to work here that will only want to teach truth, enjoy fellowship with these simple people and let God have them.

We do have our own Prayer House (church) but that will be effective for those who want to come here for special ministry. I'm beginning to see the picture more clearly of why the Lord has had me set things up ahead of knowing what is to happen (like build a church building). Surely when we were told to be lead by the Spirit if we belong to Christ it was for a divine purpose. But doing it is something so rare that we think it different from what our Lord meant.

So many thanks for all the prayer support. That makes all partners in the Gospel and I consider that true fellowship!

A FATHER REPENTS

Iba Warjri studies in Class 2 even though she is already 8 years old. I first heard of her in October 2006 when I was told of a little girl who had a vision and when she woke up from her unconscious state she recounted her vision of the rapture, Jesus’ return, the judgement and so on as if she had read the book of Daniel. That story perplexed me. She could hardly read. I checked it out. It was right. I met her along with my wife, on 26th December 2006 at her village, Nongrim Sadew, about 25 kilometres from Shillong and spoke to her and many others.

The last few days of August 2006 and the month of September run like a movie on perennial fast forward. The events moved so fast that normal life was thrown out of gear. School attendances were disrupted and churches were working overtime, many of them open 24 hours. The Presbyterian Church in the Khasi and Jaintia hills observed a ‘Youth Week’ during the week ending 2nd September 2006 with the final day falling on Sunday 3rd September 2006. On 2nd September the Youth Week services were special. There was a tremendous outpouring of God’s Spirit. Young men and women and children fell like ninepins as they were overcome by the sheer presence of God. Iba saw a vision of the end times and after that one of the women in the church called out “Jesus, Jesus”. Iba rushed out of the church building along with many others. When she looked at the moon, it looked like a cloud very near her. She saw an image of Jesus in the cloud and then it disappeared. The stars looked as if they were following the moon, which seemed to move very fast. She saw a crown and angels dressed in white and she saw God’s glory but could not see His face, nor could she describe His majesty. She also saw her parents wearing crowns. She was so happy, she praised God and danced, in her own words, “like mad woman. I called all the men and children but I was scolded. I thought it was the last day, and that we would all be saved.”

An elderly lady, Kong Wello, who was present at the church that night, told us that when Iba woke up she said that this was the last great revival and asked to speak to the four church elders. She told them that Jesus was coming soon and that he would first take up the dead and then the living and then 666 would rule. (My wife asked Iba where she had heard such a thing before and Iba said she had known of no such thing. Iba being only in class 2 could hardly read well.)

Iba’s mother told us that when she had the revelations that night her face was transformed. She is the least pretty of all the siblings but on that night she was radiant and bright and her voice was sure and clear. She normally cannot speak the standard Khasi language well, usually using her local dialect, and speaks with a lisp, but when she has a revelation she speaks fluent Khasi. It is evident that it is the Lord who gives her the words.

But on that night it was not only Iba. Several others had visions and most of them prayed for, and called, their loved ones to come to the church. Iba called for her father. Iba’s father was from a Roman Catholic background and her mother was Presbyterian, but after they got married they had stopped attending church services. Their children had no Christian teaching at home. Iba’s father is not ashamed to speak of his past life. He said, “I have been a man who has been in the kingdom of the king of this earth. Why should I not tell the truth, frankly? I have been a notorious man. I liked to drink, yes; I usually take up to 7 half bottles of my favourite whisky. I was not afraid of the police. I think they were afraid, they did not want to have a scrap with me. I am not a trouble maker but if someone starts making trouble, I do not hesitate to make the fire hotter.

“On the night of 2nd September I came back home drunk, and when one of the boys from the church came to tell me that my daughter was calling me, I was too drunk to comprehend what was happening. The next day, Sunday, I was about to have my bath when I heard my daughter’s voice over the public address system of the church. It was about 11 am. Something strange happened. I felt as if my heart was stabbed. I could no longer have my bath. I put on my clothes again, slipped into a pair of slippers and rushed off to the church. I do not know what drove me there, but I could no longer remain still. As I entered the gate of the church I heard my daughter saying that her father was coming to church. I lurched to the main door and overcome by some kind of power I almost crawled towards the front of the church and knelt there. I saw my daughter there, her face radiant, and I just wanted to kneel down. I knew I was a sinner and I asked God for forgiveness. Believe me sir,” he said, “from that day onwards I have not taken a single drop of alcohol.”

A few Sundays earlier the whole family had been baptised and become full members of the church.

On that night as we were in the evening service we saw several children having visions. Iba also fell asleep. When she woke up she said that she had seen Jesus and as well Satan with four horns, and then another demon with seven horns, and than another big one with 10 horns, and he then turned into a serpent. “I then saw angels singing and was led to heaven where I danced and sang. It was a beautiful place. There were brass and wind instruments. Then Jesus sent me to the pulpit to pray. He asked me to take off my shoes. I saw only his feet and his wounded hands.” We saw her going to the pulpit and taking off her shoes in a semi-conscious state. She went to the pulpit twice and prayed there after which she woke up.

Another girl, Phibakyntiew Lyngdoh Nongbri, aged 10, also fell unconscious. We heard her speak in her trance and say, “ I have reached, I have reached… The angels and trumpets.. You must repent, you cannot go back again and again to the same things, it is no use.” When she woke up she told us that Jesus had come to the church and when he came the church shone brightly and that he asked all to repent. There were lots of angels and they looked at the people and they sang and blew their trumpets, and birds were standing on the lectern and dancing.

“They are very lovely birds,” she said in her sleep, “I really like that, I really like that. I will stay here with Jesus. I will not go home. I will not stay in a world full of troubles.” She smiled sweetly in her sleep and giggled as if she was playing, saying, “I will pluck that… I will take that (as if she was gathering fish in a net)… Oh the flowers are so lovely! I am so happy with Jesus…I have no worries..(she chuckles here).. Oh this pond is so beautiful and clean, the water is so sweet.”

Another girl prayed for herself in her trance, for her parents and her five siblings (3 girls and 2 boys). Others in the church were identifying them for us as the girl prayed.

What had touched me deeply was the evident enthusiasm in the singing of many young boys and girls and the intensity of their prayers. I could see tears streaming on their faces as they cried to God. When they sang it was as if they were seeing something else as they raised their voices. There was no hesitation, they shouted out their praises.

I think it is important as the children and others are having visions, to instruct them by Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that reveals a certain thing, will speak into what is being revealed and give clairity. John wrote what He saw, in obedience and wrote it as he saw. The eyes of our understanding can be enlightened by the Spirit that reveals what he saw and was instructed to write.

I just want to speak into this:  "Iba rushed out of the church building along with many others. When she looked at the moon, it looked like a cloud very near her. She saw an image of Jesus in the cloud and then it disappeared. The stars looked as if they were following the moon, which seemed to move very fast. She was so happy, she praised God and danced, in her own words, “like mad woman. I called all the men and children but I was scolded. I thought it was the last day, and that we would all be saved.”

The moon is representative of the `church', called out ones/ekklesia. Jesus is the glory of the church/ekklesia. The moon moving very fast: meaning the season that is upon her( church/called out ones). The stars following: the nations coming to her light...that being Jesus Christ, as said, He is the Glory of the church/ekklesia. Isa.60:1-6

We need remember that being the church/ekklesia/called out ones, means: we have been called out of (translated out of the dominon of) darkness and brought into(translated into the dominion of) His Light...the Kingdom of His Son. Col.1:13

Blessings to all of you!

Today I rejoice because I was able to buy some Bibles (even in a big storm!). 266 Khasi, 111 Nepali, 12 Bengali. Friday I plan to distribute some. On Thursday I will try to give out at the local market day.

I was finally able to take out enough money to buy a good used jeep. The bank had blocked my card for a while and they have also put a limit on it so it is very difficult for me to take out money except on a daily basis. That means either a 40 km trip up to Shillong or a 70 km trip down to Guwahati. We've had a lot of bad weather and no electricity lately so I know for sure I am once again in India!

My son Benajamin witnessed to a cart puller in Guwahati last week so I need to take him back there to give the man a Bible (as he promised him). Revival is still going on in many parts but with less intensity. I sent Ringi and Chawia to one interior village to give the church 2 pulpit Bibles they requested (our dentist got them for us and didn't charge us for them)  and they were told it isn't intense unless they meet for prayers in the church and then the Holy Spirit moves powerfully. Before that people just showed up in church by the promptings of the Holy Spirit but now I guess they agree on when to go.

I am blessed by all that has been shown into the ministry here from all of you. Together we will go forth to proclaim freedom in His Mighty Name!

God bless Ya!

I am now in Shillong and have visited a few places in
the Khasi and Jaintia hills though my travelling has
been limited by the need to take care of some personal
responsibilities.
The revival has moved into another phase which has
less of signs and wonders but a lot of messages. I
visited a church on the 1st of May. When I visited
this church in December I was awed by the fact that I
saw children play with God, yes play with God. They
first stitched a garland for Jesus. Their actions were
so awesomely real, as they made the garland, real,
except that their hands were empty. They then had
fruits having picked some red fruits from the vases in
the church, which make beautiful flower decorations
during the Christmas season. As they spoke with Jesus
and 'ate' the fruits He gave them, one of them
mentioned that they had twenty-one fruits. I dropped
to my knees and counted the little fruits. There were
twenty-one of them!
The hide and seek game which followed was cute. They
walked around the church looking for each other, all
with their eyes shut. No falling, no tripping. And
yes, they found each other. The games having gone on
for about two hours and a half, the pastor asked them
to go and ask Jesus' permission to stop so they could
go home. It was past ten. The three immediately went
to the pulpit and had a conversation, with Jesus,
for quite some time. At one point I heard them say
that there was still some time and soon after they came down.
Another pastor asked them whether Jesus had let them
go. They declined to speak to him, saying they wanted
to speak to their own pastor. Their pastor had by then
also hidden, having seen such 'vision games' several
times. He was in the last row of the church. The girls
went towards the back of the church, paused at the
second last row and then went on to the last row and
'caught' him, and spoke with him. After a little while
two of the three girls then went to the pulpit again
and had a long conversation with a third person, we
could not see, after they which moved to another mood.
They began praying. The pastor came across to me and
said that they would wake up after the prayer. I
listened to the prayer. One girl rubbed her eyes and
then opened them. The other had then lain down. Soon
she blinked, and slowly opened her apparently heavy
eyes. Both girls had disappointment written all over
their faces. It was like they were saying, 'Oh no! We
are back on earth'. During the entire event, all
movements, conversations, actions, prayers took place
with their eyes shut.
Last week, however they were no longer playing. They were
receiving names of people who needed prayer, giving
the names, father's or mother's names, and the village
along with the ailment. The congregation who were
still present then prayed for these persons. I will
get the names of the persons who have been healed.
What happened yesterday stumped me. I had met a sixty
year old man at a village about 100 km. from Shillong
on the 30th of April. He is not a preacher or pastor,
just an ordinary man, who loves the Lord. He had
undergone a forty-day fast in the months of March and
April followed by a twenty-day fast. He spoke of
seeing the wedding feast of the Lamb being prepared
and the bride getting ready. He had been calling me
often after that. He called me on Monday morning at
about 8.45 but the call was disconnected. I failed to
get through to him that whole day. I could speak to
him yesterday, 8th May, at about 11 am and he told me
of a vision and the name of a person but as it was
raining heavily in his village he could not continue
the conversation. At 5.55 pm I was able to speak to
him. He told me that he had a vision and that he saw
the name of a girl, and gave me the name. I asked for
her surname. He said he did not see her surname. He
gave the address calling the name of the place
Pomkseh-Rynjah, I asked him where it was because it
was so much like the place I was living in, it being
called Pohkseh adjoining Rynjah. He said it was in
Shillong and I told him it must be Pohkseh-Rynjah. He
said, 'yes'. This is very interesting because though
the girl lived in Rynjah, the local church is called
Pohkseh. It is clear that the message has
significantly included the name of the church.
He then said that the girl studies in Arunachal
Pradesh and that God will bring a revival there, where
many unbelievers will turn to Christ. (He did not say
this but it appears that this girl will be
instrumental in some way). He said that he was still
in the midst of a vision and that he saw some people
at the foot of the cross.
I was visiting a nearby village then and while I was
on my way there he called again at 6.33 pm. "Now the
vision is clear," he said. "The girl has now come to
Shillong and she is in the midst of a spiritual battle
even now." As soon as I reached this village I was
visiting I asked my companion, a pastor, to call up
anyone from the Pohkseh Church. He called an elder of
the church, who confirmed that there was indeed a girl
from that church who had that name. He handed the
phone to me and the elder said that he was at the
house of the girl the previous night praying for her
up to 10 pm as she was under demonic attack. He then
gave us directions to the girl's house. While still at
this village a call came from a doctor, used by God in
miraculous ways, who told that he wanted to come to
Pohkseh, intending to visit me, but the way he said he
wanted to come to visit Pohkseh was confirmation to me
that God was showing him to go to the girl's place. I
quickly gave him a rundown of the previous hour's
developments and he immediately committed himself. We
returned quickly to Shillong from the village of Mylliem. We had gone to this
village to see a lady whose body was sparkling at
night, much like glow-worms. I twice saw faint, but
clear flashes on her body. They were now considerably
less but were very clear in December when the
occurrences began.
We met with the doctor as we went to the girl's house.
The name, the address, the circumstances she was in
and that she was in Shillong had been confirmed. I
still had to confirm one more bit of information from
the vision. Did she study in Arunachal Pradesh? After
the girl's father had told us a few things I asked him
what his daughter was doing. He said she was studying
homeopathy at Itanagar, the capital of the state of
Arunachal Pradesh and that he had brought her back the
day before to Shillong because she was suffering from
what looked to him like demonic attacks. When we met
the girl we heard her trying to sing with relatives
around, 'There is power in the blood'. When she neared
us she stopped singing at the point of 'There is..'
unable to open her mouth for the word 'power' even as
she tried to say the word. She could not say any other
word after that. Her eyes rolled as she looked at us
then at her brother who had tattoos on both his arms.
They looked like metal music tattoos to me. She was
not delivered even till we left the house, some time
before midnight. The father shared with us some of his
burdens for his two sons and wrote their name for us
to pray, giving each of us a slip of paper.
As I was writing this mail I got a call from the man
with the vision at 9.10 am. i.e. on 9th May 2007. He said that the girl was
being delivered, (I will go to her house soon after I
finish writing to you) but that there were still some
hindrances, defilements. I queried him some more. He
said it was in the family, among her older siblings.
'What siblings?' I persisted, 'brothers or sisters?'
'Brothers,' he said. He was spot on, right from her
name, address, place of study, return to Shillong, her
spiritual struggle, and her family condition. Not a
single mistake, a bull's eye on each point.

God is awesome. There is nothing hidden from Him. He knows each one of
us by name.

The wedding feast nears. May we work overtime while it
is till day.

Barkos.
