Laura Silsby

A prosecutor is expected to recommend action on Laura Silsby within a week. The judge could free her, try her or call for further investigation.

US Senator:  Charges Dropped Against Nine of the Ten Missionaries to Haiti

KIVI-TV, Channel 6

PORT AU PRINCE, HAITI - Charges have been dropped against nine of the Americans held in Haiti earlier this year, according to a spokesman for Senator Jim Risch. A tenth church volunteer, Laura Silsby remains in custody.

They were arrested for trying to take 33 children across the border into the Dominican Republic following the January earthquake in Haiti. They said that at the time, they believed all the children to be orphans.

The investigation into Silsby's actions is also reportedly complete and will be submitted to the prosecutor for review.
