Obama and GrahamsObama Visits Billy Graham, Franklin Brings Up Treatment by Pentagon

CBN News

MONTREAT, NC - President Barack Obama paid a visit to Reverend Billy Graham and his son Franklin at the elder Graham's mountainside home in Monteat, North Carolina on Sunday.

The historic meeting marked the first time a sitting president visited the 91 year-old evangelist in his North Carolina dwelling.

A spokesman for Reverend Graham said the two discussed a variety of topics including their wives, golf and Chicago.

"The conversation was very cordial, very nice," Franklin Graham said. "When the president got ready to leave, the president prayed for my father, my father prayed for him."

Franklin said he also brought up a recent controversy -- the Pentagon rescinding its invitation for him to speak at a National Day of Prayer service. The younger Graham said he told Obama that activists are trying to remove all religion from the military and Obama pledged to look into it.

Franklin Graham recently spoke with CBN News about the issue.

"Religious Freedom is under attack," he said. "There's been an erosion now for many years, but we've seen it accelerate in the last 10 years, this political correctness that's crept in."

During the 30-minute visit, Billy Graham also gave the president two Bibles -- one for him and one for first lady Michelle Obama.
