Plan Moves Forward to Build a Giant Mosque Near Ground Zero
NY1 News
NEW YORK, NY - Community Board 1 is supporting the plan, which would build a $100 million mosque and cultural center in a building that was damaged in the September 11th terrorist attacks.
The mosque, called "Cordoba House," would replace the former Burlington Coat Factory building at Park Place and Broadway. Families of some September 11th victims say building a mosque so close to the area is offensive. But project officials say it's meant to foster better relations between the West and Muslims.
