Lawyers: US Pastor Being Tortured in Iranian Prison

CBN News

The American Center for Law and Justice says Iranian-American Pastor Saeed Abedini is being tortured in an Iranian prison and have filed an appeal on their client's behalf.

Abedini is serving eight years in a brutal Iranian prison because of his Christian faith. The Iranian regime has cut the pastor off from his wife and children who live in the United States.

The ACLJ reported that Iranian officials refuse to let Saeed communicate with his family via phone and have been trying to convince him that efforts to secure his freedom have ceased.

"When I heard this from my husband, I cried. It broke my heart," Pastor Abedini's wife, Naghmeh, told the ACLJ.

Sign the petition to free American Pastor Saeed in Iran.

"Behind those walls he feels helpless and relies on us to be his voice," she said. "It is so easy to feel forgotten in the walls of the prison. Please help me make sure he is never forgotten."

Meanwhile, the ACLJ is working with Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., to urge the Obama administration to intervene on Abedini's behalf.

"Now that Secretary of State John Kerry is on the job, we urge him to follow through with statements provided during the confirmation hearings when he personally called for Pastor Saeed's release," ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow said.
