When Muslim jihadists carry out a terror attack, the often cry out, Allahu Akbar, which means in Arabic "Allah is greater."
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., sparked some controversy over those words when a Fox News host said Muslims who use the phrase have radical aspirations and are not moderates.
McCain disagreed, arguing the words are really no different from an American Christian saying "thank God."
"Would you have a problem with an American or Christians saying 'Thank God, thank God?" McCain asked.
"That's what they are saying…I guarantee you they are moderates," he said.
The Arizona senator said he would support President Barack Obama's request for military strikes against Syria.
