Saeed's Wife Has Chance Meeting with Iran's President

Video>

The wife of American Pastor Saeed Abedini, who is imprisoned in Iran, came face to face with the country's president Monday and asked him for her husband's release.

During a chance encounter in a hotel lobby in New York, Naghmeh approached President Hassan Rouhani, to seek the release of Pastor Saeed.

She also gave a member of Rouhani's group a letter written by the pastor, pleading for his own release. The man said he would deliver it to the Iranian president.

The Iranian delegation happened to be staying in the same hotel as Naghmeh. Rouhani is in New York to address the United Nations this week.

Her husband, Pastor Saeed, has been jailed for his Christian faith in Iran's notorious Evin prison.

This Thursday marks the one year anniversary of Saeed's imprisonment. A special prayer vigil is being held to mark the day.

Demand Saeed’s Freedom. Write a letter. Be Heard.
