Hackers to Congress: 'Shut Down HealthCare.gov'

Paid professionals hackers and cyber security experts have one suggestion for Obamacare's federal website: "Shut it down."
During a House hearing on the security of the website, they advised shutting it down at least until major security risks are addressed. The said the site is susceptible to hackers and criminals.
The experts pointed out how vulnerable Americans' sensitive private information is because of the website flaws.
One of the panel experts, David Kennedy, tests security flaws by hacking online systems to help identify weaknesses.
He warned that there are critical flaws and exposures on the site that could easily give hackers access to social security numbers, birthdays, income, and more.
"The purpose of security isn't to say, 'Hey, we're 100 percent impenetrable all the time,' but can we detect the hackers in the very early stages of the life cycle of the attack, monitor that, and prevent the attacks from happening," Kennedy said. "None of those are clearly being done on the HealthCare.gov website."
Kennedy said the website is missing fundamental security principles.
Democrats say HealthCare.gov isn't the only website with vulnerabilities. But Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, said given the "massive amount" of personal data collected by the website, "it is time to take Obamacare off of life-support."
