Pastor Saeed Allowed Unexpected Prison Visit

CBN News

Pastor Saeed Abedini's relatives were allowed to visit him at Iran's infamous Rajai Shahr prison Monday, where he was transferred earlier this month.

For two weeks, visits from his family were prohibited, making Monday's meeting with them his first since being transferred from Evin Prison Nov. 1.

Jordan Sekulow, executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice, said Saeed's condition remains dire, adding that the pastor has been denied medication prescribed for his internal injuries.

But Sekulow and the ACLJ team are encouraged by the recent visit.

It's "a positive sign that international pressure continues to work to keep Pastor Saeed alive," Sekulow said.

Meanwhile, international human rights organizations have reported that excessive violence between inmates, including murder, is routine at Rajai Shahr.

Sekulow said he "believe[s] prayer and strong international pressure -- the outcry of hundreds of thousands of people around the world -- are keeping Pastor Saeed alive."
