By Peter Wooding Europe Bureau Chief for ASSIST News Service
KIEV, UKRAINE (ANS) -- In the midst of Ukraine’s political turmoil, Christian charity Mercy Projects is appealing for urgent help to bring God’s hope and peace to hundreds of children this summer through their camp ministry.

He went on to explain: “Our summer camps are a place of fun and safety. The kids always want to come back. But most of all, camp is a place where they can freely ask questions and learn about Jesus.
“The counselors are former sponsored children themselves. They understand the hardships these children face in their daily lives.”
Despite such unrest in Ukraine, the Mercy Projects team, based in Kiev, says they are determined more than ever to bring some joy and peace to the children coming to their camps this summer.

We do not have space for everybody who wants to come. We are hoping and praying that we can provide scholarships for children to attend the camps. Their parents are grateful that children can leave their apartment for two weeks and be in the woods and learn from the bible.
“When crisis strikes what children need most is love and a sense of normalcy. Kids will attend camp from eastern and western Ukraine. We are committed to sharing the gospel with this young generation who can change the future of their country. Thanks for your support to give them a brighter future.”
Mercy Projects Founder Jeff Thompson concluded: “This summer, a gift of $150 will send one child to camp. Only $15 per day. This is an amazing spiritual investment in the lives of these kids.”
