Friends Turn Foe: Iraq Minorities Can 'Trust No One'

Video>

CBN News

Religious minorities in the Middle East have become a huge target for terrorists in the last decade.

Hadi Pir is a part of the Yazidi religious group, an Iraqi community viciously attacked by the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

Pir has been lobbying in Washington, D.C., for protection for religious minorities, saying that Muslim extremist groups are not the only ones lashing out.

In addition to extremists, Pir said so-called moderate Muslims -- friends, neighbors and co-workers -- have been turning against religious minorities. Those minorities include Christians and Yazidis among others.

Crimes committed against religious minorities include murder and what's called sexual jihad. Pir said women are sold as concubines for less than $100.

Pir said that, sadly, religious minorities in Iraq can trust no one. He's lobbied the U.S. State Department in Washington for help and believes the U.S. government needs to do more.

Hadi Pir talked more about the plight of religious minorities in Iraq with CBN News Reporter Mark Martin. Click play for his comments.
