Last September, Netanyahu and several senior military officials flew
to Moscow to meet with Putin following Russia's deployment of troops to
Syria. The climate conference provided a convenient follow-up venue to
that meeting.
In the wake of Turkey's recent downing of a Russian warplane,
Netanyahu said their cooperation with one another "to prevent
unnecessary accidents and tragedies" has proven successful.
He also called the battle against the savagery and barbarism of
Islamic terror "another point of contact," saying he's "very satisfied"
with the level of military coordination between the two countries.
"I think this is an indication of the openness and the success of the
relationship between Israel and Russia—our relationship," Netanyahu
said, adding, "It's good to see you again."

his part, Putin said it was his pleasure to meet with Netanyahu on the

While acknowledging "the many dramatic developments" on the ground,
Putin congratulated Netanyahu on the upcoming Hanukkah holiday.
"It's a very good and bright holiday that symbolizes the victory, the
triumph of light over dark," Putin said. "And I really hope that in
international affairs we'll have it this way as well."
Putin said the Russians also "are satisfied with the progress of
bilateral relations," noting that the "mechanism" proposed and promoted
by Netanyahu has worked "to prevent incidents due to the dramatic
developments in the region," adding that "we also have advances in other
spheres as well."
