New Intel: California Massacre Was a Planned Act of Terror - couple had been radicalized for quite a while "Obsessed With Israel"

by Dale Hurd : Dec 8, 2015 : CBN News

Meanwhile, new figures show that since the Paris terror attacks on November 13, the State Department has admitted 237 Syrian refugees into the United States, all Muslim except for one Christian.

The two shooters were radicalized Muslims pledging allegiance to ISIS.

The FBI says 28-year-old Syed Farook and his 29-year-old wife, Tashfeen Malik, spent a lot of time and effort planning the attack that killed 14 of Syed's co-workers.

David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office, said "both subjects were radicalized and have been for quite some time."

The couple had taken target practice at an area gun range just a few days before the attack.

And the FBI now says 19 pipe bombs were found in the couple's home, not 12 as originally stated—more evidence they were planning to engage in terrorism for some time to come.

In the wake of the San Bernardino massacre, came a stunning proposal from Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump: ban all Muslims from entering America.

"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States," he said.

Trump's proposal brought immediate condemnation from his Republican rivals. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush called him "unhinged." New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called the proposal "ridiculous."

"This is the kind of thing that people say when they have no experience and don't know what they're talking about," Christie said.

Even former Vice President Dick Cheney agreed.

"This whole notion... goes against everything we stand for and believe in," Cheney said.

Meanwhile, new figures show that since the Paris terror attacks on November 13, the State Department has admitted 237 Syrian refugees into the United States, all Muslim except for one Christian.

Meanwhile, a leaked 24-page dossier from the Islamic State shows the group President Barack Obama once dismissed as the "Junior Varsity" with sophisticated plans to build a nation with governmental departments, a treasury and an economic program.

It could be a sign that the Islamic State is getting stronger in Iraq and Syria and that Obama's strategy to defeat ISIS simply isn't enough to get the job done.

News Staff (Dec 8, 2015)

Father of dead terrorist, Syed Farook, said he told his radicalized son that he "had to stay calm and be patient because in two years Israel will not exist anymore." So what does that say about "normal" Muslims?

(San Bernardino, CA)—[United With Israel] Syed [Rizwan] Farook, the Muslim terrorist who murdered 14 Americans in San Bernardino last week, shared the Islamic State's (ISIS) ideology, wanted to see the establishment of an Islamic caliphate and was obsessed with Israel, Farook's father told the La Stampa Italian newspaper on Sunday. "My son said that he shared [ISIS leader Abu Bakr] Ali Baghdadi's ideology and supported the creation of the Islamic State," said Farook's dad, also named Syed Farook, who lives in Corona, California. "He was also obsessed with Israel."

"I told him he had to stay calm and be patient because in two years Israel will not exist anymore," the elder Farook shared, according to a translation of the interview by Times of Israel.

"Geopolitics is changing: Russia, China and America don't want Jews there anymore. They are going to bring the Jews back to Ukraine. What is the point of fighting? We have already done it and we lost. Israel is not to be fought with weapons, but with politics. But he did not listen to me, he was obsessed," the father offered his odd explanation of currents events in the interview.

"[Farook's] mother is very religious, as he was, and they united against me," the father said of his ex-wife Rafia, who has accused him of substance abuse. "Once we had a dispute over the historical figure of Jesus. My son called me a godless person and he decided that my marriage with my wife had to end. They destroyed the family."

Farook declared himself in complete despair and disbelief over what his son did with his wife, the Saudi born Tashfeen Malik. His daughter claimed while speaking to The New York Times that they had seen no warning signs.

San Bernardino terror couple had been radicalized for quite a while, FBI says

The San Bernardino terror couple who killed 14 at an employee holiday party last week had been extremists for an extended period of time, an FBI official told NBC News.

“As the investigation has progressed, we have learned and believe that both subjects were radicalized and had been for quite some time,” David Bowdich, the FBI’s assistant director in L.A., told reporters.

“The question we’re trying to get at is how did that happen, and by whom, and where did that happen. And I will tell you right now we don’t know those answers at this point,” he said.

In the days since Syed Farook and Tafsheen Malik attacked co-workers at their holiday lunch, authorities have been trying to determine why the couple acted with such wanton violence, and were even willing to leave behind a 6-month-old daughter.

The questions have focused primarily on Malik, 29, a Pakistani national who reportedly posted a Facebook message just before the attack pledging allegiance to the leader of Islamic State. She also posted extremist messages on Facebook before and after her arrival in the U.S.

But Bowdich said it is not clear whether anyone else is responsible for the radicalization, since it is possible to be self-radicalized via the internet.

Bowdich also revealed that Farook and Malik conducted target practice at local gun ranges prior to the attack, including a session a few days earlier, according to NBC.

He also said it was unclear whether anyone in the U.S. or outside the U.S. gave the couple direct help to carry out the attacks, which appeared to involve extensive planning and financial resources beyond Farook’s meager government salary. The fact that they destroyed their cell phones and computer hard drives leads some observers to believe they were involved with other extremists.

Indeed, Farook was in contact with individuals under investigation by government authorities.

Investigators have questioned a childhood friend of Farook’s, Enrique Marquez, 29, who bought the assault-style rifles used in the attack, Bowdich said. Marquez has been unavailable for questioning because he checked himself into a mental health facility in Long Beach, California following the incident.

Farook’s mother, who lived with the couple, has also been questioned about what she knew before the attacks. Bowdich said he wasn’t sure if investigators were done talking to her. She has maintained she was unaware of the couple’s extensive bomb-making operation, weapons and ammunition stored at the home.
