"The
Lonely God"
by Lonnie
Mackley Aug. 5th, 2016
Recently
while praying and thinking about the Lord I felt something come from Him that I
can only describe as, “loneliness”. I thought, “Well God isn’t lonely because
He has billions of His creation around Him at all times”; so I asked Him what
He was trying to show me, and this is what I believe He shared with me. He took
me back to a time when I was in Army basic training when I was a new
Spirit-filled Christian and I literally involved Him in everything I did during
my days. He told me how much He loved that personal interaction with me and
then He said this to me; “I don’t want to just do things for people, I want to
do things with them”. He wants heart interaction with us, not just service.
MT 15:8 " `These people honor me with their lips, but their
hearts are far from me.
Then He
began to explain to me how He could feel lonely for us. You see, God created us
and He has monitored every thought, emotion, and action that we have ever
experienced since we were birthed, so He has an incredible one-sided heart
investment with us where He longs for us to talk to Him and involve Him with
everything we not only do, but think and feel as well. He desires us more than
we may think. If you had not only watched someone 24 hours a day for years on
end and also felt everything they felt, how invested in your heart would you
feel toward them? Do you think you would want them to acknowledge you back not
only in words, but in genuine love and fellowship?
REV 2:4 Yet I hold this against
you: You have forsaken your first love.
If your
spouse just plopped down a box of chocolates every Valentines day and then grabbed
their golf clubs to go golfing, how much heart interaction would you feel from
them? Or if you were a child and your father bought you only gifts but never
spent any time with you, would you feel valued and cherished by him?; Probably
not. But many of us have strayed away from true heart interaction with God and
we have set up for ourselves idols in His place that we can control and indulge
in, rather than approaching a Father that requires to be honored and adored. Even
if our idols may only be electronic they are still idols, and they compete with
God. And God will not compete with our idols.
JER 29: 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me
with all your heart.
So I want
to encourage you today to get rid of your idols and to return to your first
love. Idols act like little doors to the demonic, and they block us from
experiencing God’s presence. Seek God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and
strength, and you will find Him afresh once again. He is waiting and eager to
hear from you, and He has a lot of good things to say to you. He is truly for
you! You are the apple of His eye and He wants to show you Heaven itself if you
will forsake all to follow Him. We are in the last of the last days, and there
will be no middle ground up ahead, so be a wise virgin and get extra oil while
you still can. Know that God is lonely for you, and He seeks to become one with
you!
JOEL 2:13 Rend your heart and not
your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.
