ENDANGERED SPECIES
I will open My mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. Psalm 78:2-4
Generations of youth have been lost and have become an endangered species because we have refused to pass down the truth of God's word to them and instead we have given them religious tradition. Because of a lack of fathers taking the role of leader in the family our children are being destroyed by the enemy.
The Bible says to train up a child in the way he should go, but we have left that job to the schools, churches and their peers trusting in others to do what we ourselves must do. The results of our neglect are obvious in our kids and have produced a generation led by violence, video games and electronic devices; e-zombies unable to handle the pressures of life are being consumed by drugs, alcohol and suicide.
Recently publicized on the news a fourteen year old named Jamey Rodemeyer hung himself outside his front door to make a statement about being bullied because he was gay. His role model, Lady Gaga whose popular hit with her "Little Monsters," I was born this way, has become a theme song that justifies bad behavior.
In twenty five years of directing Christian residential facilities for youth, if I had it all to do over again I would have a "Super-Max" lock-down for parents, the most clue-less people in the world! Hundreds dropped off their drug addicted kids wanting me to "Fix" them, while they continued to live their lives unaware that they were the cause of their child's problems.
Years ago a couple called me to come to their home because their daughter was acting strangely, dressing in black and isolating herself from them. When I arrived the first thing I suggested was to search her room for drugs and other paraphernalia that she might have hidden. The parents looked at me in astonishment and said that she kept the door to her room locked and would not let them in. My answer to them was to break it down, which we did and to their amazement found the room painted black and an altar was erected in the corner where she was worshiping Satan!
FATHERLESS
For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children. Psalm 78:5,6
Children left to their own devices to try and figure out how to live without the watchful eye of a father will produce a stubborn and rebellious child hell bent on his own destruction. Trained by watching thousands of hours of TV and violent video games the young mind deals with the issues of life by what he has seen others do instead of being taught and disciplined by a loving father.
With the outbreak of school shootings in recent years and violent acts of aggression against parents, drugs and illicit sex as early as elementary school, America has a serious problem. With the advent of "Sex-ting" the young person can produce his own pornography sent to whomever he wishes through the aid of the i-phone. Did you know that it is a well known fact among adolescents and teenagers that oral sex is considered acceptable because there is no danger of one becoming pregnant and is practiced widely throughout the public school systems of this country.
The old saying, "Monkey see, monkey do" is what is happening to our kids, they act out what they see and learn from their peers and not from their parents, the result is a mindless generation of children addicted to hand held devices, unable to carry on an intelligent conversation. Have you tried talking to your kids or grand kids lately without an i-phone staring back at you?
The children of Ephraim being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. They did not keep the covenant of God; they refused to walk in His law, and forgot His works, and His wonders that He had shown them. Psalm 78:9-11
SINS OF THE FATHERS
For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting (punishing) the iniquity (evil lifestyle) of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me. Exodus 20:5
The generational curse of sin is destroying our kids as sure as the sun comes up in the morning. Our children are inheriting the consequences of their father's evil actions, unrepentant sin and iniquity of our unfaithful ancestors has descended upon them like a dark foreboding cloud.
I have ministered to many in prison whose fathers were incarcerated in the same prison for the same crime, passed down from generation to generation, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Today its not fashionable or politically correct to speak of curses, especially curses on our kids for something we did, no, it must be psychological, and so they are deemed "Bipolar" a generic term used to diagnose anything they don't understand.
As sheep must have a shepherd, kids must have fathers who get involved in their lives. Get in their business, spend time with them, pray for them and teach them the principals of kingdom living, don't drop them off to some untrained youth minister who is paid to babysit and in most cases poisons their whole spiritual outlook, do it yourself. Listen to them, you will find out they are love starved for your attention and will soak up any wisdom that you can impart to them.
The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother. Proverbs 29:15
