Maggie Atkinson's agency took away a foster mother's job. Now her job may be taken away. | Dismissed Foster Parent Eligible Again, Official Was Upset Child Accepted Jesus
by Steve Eastman, OpenHeaven.com TOP News
LEEDS, UK - The woman, whose name cannot be released for legal reasons, had been blamed because a teenager in her care renounced Islam in favor of a personal relationship with Jesus. The foster mom was blamed for failing to “protect and preserve” the teen’s Muslim faith when she was baptized. It turns out the girl was 16 and made up her own mind about God. A court in Leeds recently overruled the original decision of Gateshead Council.
The woman has fostered more than 80 children over the years. She’s seeking damages from the Council, claiming the decision to take her off the list of qualified foster parents caused financial injury. Another child she was caring for at the time was taken away and she lost a farmhouse she was renting.
Meanwhile, the administrator who's been blamed for the woman's trouble, is in trouble herself. Maggie Atkinson went on to become Children’s Commissioner for all of England. Officials are debating whether to eliminate her £138,000-a-year job for unrelated reasons.
