Dear Friend,
You've seen the news from Syria and it is increasingly tragic. More than 4.25 million Syrians are displaced in their own country. Another 2 million refugees have fled unimaginable horror, seeking safety in neighboring countries. One million frightened children are among them.
Please help meet the urgent needs of Syrian refugees today.
Ibrahim, a Syrian father and refugee, recalls the terror in his homeland. "I saw 60 people killed in front of my eyes. By the time we left, people were dying one by one. Children were being killed, and women. I didn't want to leave my Syria, but I had to, for the women, for my girls."
Refugees like Ibrahim and his family have fled Syria with nothing but each other. They are in desperate need of adequate shelter, clean water, food, and hygiene items. Many children who lost their homes also witnessed violence and destruction. They are especially vulnerable and need education and counseling to help them cope with the trauma.
World Vision is scaling up our response to meet the urgent needs of Syrian children and families. But your help is critical. Just $50 can provide a refugee with food for a month or protect a family from infectious diseases by providing a hygiene and sanitation kit.
Inside Syria, we are providing as many as 70,000 people with clean water and health services.
Child-Friendly Spaces in Lebanon have created safe areas where children can learn, engage in fun activities, and recover from emotional scars. Projects to provide food vouchers, hygiene kits, and access to clean water and sanitation are also a vital support to Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
In Jordan, we're installing a water system in a new camp and supporting refugee children with education. As winter approaches, families need stoves, fuel, and assistance to winterize their temporary shelters.
If you've already given in response to this crisis, thank you. As the needs of millions of children and their families increase daily, I ask you to prayerfully consider doing all you can to help Syrian refugees.
God bless you,
Rich Stearns President, World Vision U.S.
P.S. Violence, fear, and uncertainty have become the new normal for millions of Syrian children. Please help by donating to the Syrian Refugee Crisis Fund today.
