(Alabama)—Molly Anne Dutton not only became Auburn University's 100th Miss Homecoming this past weekend, but she also has gained national attention because of her personal story that has become her platform.
Dutton's "Light up LIFE" campaign slogan stems from her own story, when her biological mother was faced with an impossible decision following a sexual assault that left her pregnant.
Her husband told her to abort the baby or get a divorce, and she bravely chose the latter, working with Christian adoption agency Lifeline Children's Services to find a good ‘forever family' for her baby girl.
It was a couple serving on the Lifeline board at the time that eventually became Dutton's adoptive parents.
Now, Molly Anne Dutton herself advocates for life, and for adoption, noting that "because that resource was made available to my mother, she decided to give birth to me."
"I was given grace to carry that story," says Dutton. "My story is a voice for the voiceless."
