A message from evangelist Daniel Kolenda in Cameroon

‘Just moments ago, I left the field after the final meeting of the Gospel Campaign here in Douala, Cameroon. 370,000 people attended the four days of meetings, and many thousands responded to the Gospel. After I preached the Gospel and prayed for the sick, we heard wonderful testimonies. For example, a woman suffering from an issue of blood was healed. The lump in a woman’s breast vanished, and all pain left. A woman with multiple painful fibroids was healed and many more. After taking testimonies, I pronounced blessing after blessing upon the nation, the city, the economy, the churches and the people gathered. They received it with joy and great faith. We depart now with a confidence that something historic has taken place this week. Douala will never be the same again in Jesus name!’ Evangelist Daniel Kolenda, together with Reinhard Bonnke, Peter van den Berg and the whole Christ for all Nations team.

Praise:

God for the blessings given to the people of Douala, Cameroon. (Is.44:3)

Israeli professionals are finding Jesus

For 2,000 years it would have been shocking to claim that Jews can believe in Jesus! It is today no longer so uncommon to find Jewish people who believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as the promised Messiah of Israel, and within a Jewish context. Still, these people are often disregarded by mainstream Judaism as confused or disillusioned. The Israeli Messianic online ministry ‘One For Israel’ has set out to demonstrate that Jewish people of the highest standing, and most certainly in their right minds, are indeed coming to a realisation that Yeshua is Messiah. On their facebook page One For Israel stated, ‘We are proud to announce our new project I MET MESSIAH. Dynamic video testimonies of Jewish professionals who met their Messiah!’ Over a period of ten weeks, the team, in partnership with Chosen People Ministries, interviewed 35 Jewish professionals who are today believers in Yeshua. Their video testimonies are online.

Praise:

God for each person who comes to their Messiah both Jews and Gentiles alike. (Ac.10:28)

7:14 - Election Prayer UK

On Thursday 7 May, the people of Britain decide on their future - on Wednesday 6 May, we get to pray for it - This is a call to the Church to come together in prayer for our nation. From the heart of Westminster to the farthest reaches of the land, God is calling His Church to rise. That's what '7:14 – Election Prayer UK' is all about. It's a vision to see Christians of every denomination and none come together for an hour of prayer. For the whole Church, young and old, rich and poor, of every race, background and political persuasion to unite in seeking The Lord. Not inside, out of sight, unseen, behind four walls, but outside, in the public square, 'a city on a hill', 'a light on its stand!' On the eve of the General Election, we'll gather on Parliament Square on 6 May 2015 from 7.14pm - 8.14pm. If you'd like to organise an event where you are, contact by email

Pray:

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (Chr.7:14)

British superbug outbreak 'could kill 80,000'

A Government report warns that tens of thousands could die because of new strains of bacteria and viruses resistant to drugs. Up to 80,000 people in Britain could die in a single outbreak of an infection due to a new generation of superbugs, according to an official Government forecast. In total, some 200,000 people could be infected if a strain of disease resistant to antibiotics took hold, according to official forecasts which reveal the potential casualty toll for the first time. Scientists are increasingly concerned about the impact of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which makes routine antibiotics or anti-viral drugs ineffective against diseases that have formerly been brought under control. It would mean that the huge gains made since the discovery of penicillin in curbing conditions such as pneumonia and tuberculosis and rendering surgery and childbirth safe could be lost.

Pray:

against the threat of superbugs and that ways will be found to contro them. (Ps.103:3)

Force schools to endorse gay relationships, says NUT

The National Union of Teachers (NUT) wants all schools actively to promote gay marriage and for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) rights to permeate the school curriculum beyond lessons on sex education. Protection against discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation is already firmly enshrined within the Equality Act (2010). For the NUT this does not go far enough. It regards the promotion of LGBT rights as so important that it is prepared to ditch the rights of those, such as many faith groups, who do not support gay marriage. In order to promote the rights of one group forcibly, promote the rights of one group, other groups of people, far greater in number, have to be discriminated against. Pity the poor teacher who will lose his livelihood because his conscience prevents him from actively promoting gay marriage. Pity the faith school that has to choose between closing its doors or betraying its religion. Pity the helpless parent whose child will be subjected to politically correct and Orwellian thought control.

Pray:

that God will lead people back to His Word and His ways when raising the next generation. (Heb.13:4)

Alarm over sudden drop in female life expectancy

Life expectancy for women has suffered a drop on a scale not seen for decades, as their lifestyles become more like those of men, official figures show. In 2012 there were falls in average life expectancy for females over 60. Experts said the trend could be the result of changes in the lifestyles of the ‘baby boomer’ generation, with older women more likely to drink regularly and to have smoked, than previous generations. Charities also raised concern that older people are having their lives cut short by reductions in social care spending. Caroline Abrahams, charity director at Age UK said, ‘The most obvious likely culprit is the rapid decline of state-funded social care in recent years, which is leaving hundreds of thousands of older people to struggle on alone at home without any help.’ She called on the next Government to take urgent action to support the elderly and prevent the downturn becoming the start of a ‘terrible trend.’

Pray:

for Government and care services to respond to this report so that the threat does not become an established trend. (Pr.16:31)

Christians ridiculed in modern Britain, says Michael Gove

Christians are ‘openly derided’ and ‘coolly dismissed’, but their beliefs and work to help others are hugely valuable, Michael Gove has said. The former Education Secretary said that while British culture belittles Christianity on a daily basis, churchgoers’ demonstration of their love for Jesus through service to others is of incalculable importance. Last month an equality watchdog found evidence of widespread discrimination against Christians. Writing in the Spectator magazine, Gove said: ‘Relativism is the orthodoxy of our age so to call yourself a Christian in contemporary Britain is to invite pity, condescension or cool dismissal. But genuine Christian faith - far from making any individual more invincibly convinced of their own righteousness - makes us realise just how flawed and fallible we all are’, he wrote. As the Book of Common Prayer puts it', We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts and there is no health in us.’

Pray:

that we will not follow the devices and desires of our own hearts. (Gen.4:7)

Children as young as 11 to be given lessons about rape

New teaching materials exploring issues around sexual consent to be introduced in schools next term. Children as young as 11 are to be given lessons about rape where they will be taught that dressing provocatively does not imply consent to sex, under new teaching plans to be introduced in schools within weeks. Nicky Morgan, the former Education Secretary, has commissioned new guidance advising schools that they should teach pupils about ‘rape myths’ before they are sexually active, as otherwise it may be ‘too late’. Mrs Morgan, who was also Minister for Woman and Qualities, said that girls today faced ‘unimaginable’ pressures. ‘Mothers at the school gates often tell me about their worries for their daughters. They tell me that on top of the usual stress of school life and teenage years, they want to know their girls are being taught what a healthy relationship looks like and how to say ‘no’,’ she wrote in the Sunday Times. ‘It's our duty to ensure that our daughters leave school able to navigate the challenges and choices they will face in adulthood.’

Pray:

that the new materials will meet the requirements of sound teaching in this sensitive area. (Pr.4:2)

Europe and UK: Christianity to decline by 2050

A new report by the Pew Research Centre said, ‘The religious profile of the world is rapidly changing, driven by differences in fertility rates and the size of youth populations among the world’s major religions, as well as by people switching faiths. Over the next four decades Christians will remain the largest religious group, but Islam will grow faster than any other major religion if current trends continue. By 2050, Christianity is set to decline further in the UK and Europe. 25% of all Christians lived in Europe in 2010. By 2050 this is set to drop to 15.6 % and Africa will have the most Christians. In 2010, 24% of the world's Christians lived in sub-Saharan Africa by 2050 it will exceed 38% according to Pew. Europe’s ‘absolute number’ of Christians will fall from 553 million in 2010 to 454 million in 2050.

Pray:

for a Spirit-led Christian revival movement based on God’s word, to sweep across the nations. (Col.1: 25-27)

Heads of churches call Ukrainians to fight corruption

Heads of eleven Evangelical churches have asked people not to give or take bribes and oppose corruption the main inner enemy of Ukraine, reports The Christian Telegraph in reference to the Institute for Religious Freedom. ‘Losses from corruption are huge. The sin of theft cruelly destroys our nation. The experience of other countries has shown that all good changes in a person’s life or the life of the whole nation begin with changes in the worldview,’ said the appeal made by the Alliance of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine. The heads of the Evangelical churches noted the importance of healthy spiritual guide-lines, which the Bible contains. All officials should remember ‘the oath of civil servants, and, what is more important, the responsibility before the Almighty Creator and Lord.’ the ministers called on the government to make transparent reformation of ‘courts, local governments and other important components of the state.’

Pray:

that following the appeal from the leaders of the Evangelical churches corruption will fall. (Is.1:4)

South Africa: God’s power at work

Pastor Steve Haines is passionate about raising a generation of supernatural believers. Haines has been a pastor for 12 years he established the Supernatural Lifestyle School in Pietermaritzburg in 2010 providing Christians with two weeks of equipping in praying for the sick, prophecy and supernatural evangelism, while also giving space for people to encounter God through soaking and impartation. In 2014 the school moved to Cape Town. Katrina Harageus, a past student, returned to Namibia, and started a healing room in a hospital. The nurses have been bringing patients to her because they patients are touched by God and healed, even from cancer. In every school that has been run, they have seen healings, deliverances and salvations through the hands of ‘normal’ believers. Read about the deaf hearing, alcoholics delivered and more at the link below.

Pray:

for God to move across the nations giving the gift of faith to pursue more of Him. (Jas.1:22)

Yemen: 100,000 displaced – a critical situation

UNICEF reported 100,000 people have fled their homes - the majority of them women and children. Thousands are in dire need of aid. The Red Cross was able to land one passenger plane carrying staff but have not yet been able to find a cargo plane operator to fly supplies into the country. A conservative estimate was of 74 children killed was 74 and 44 maimed since the Saudi-led coalition started bombing Houthi positions. UNICEF said children were paying an ‘intolerable’ price and they needed protection. The number of civilian casualties is increasing and the humanitarian situation is deteriorating due to the siege and air-strikes hitting food storages. When one thinks of Yemen (situated between Saudi Arabia and Somalia two of the most radical Muslim nations) one seldom thinks of Christians, primarily because they are practically non-existent in such an inhospitable environment. Yemen's entire non-Muslim population is less than one percent.

Pray:

for Yemen, which is also grappling with al-Qaeda, to come into God’s purposes for its future. Pray also for God to strengthen the Yemeni Christians as they intercede for their nation. (jer.29:11)

Kenya: Authorities took hours to respond to university attack

The death toll in al-Shabaab’s assault on a Christian University College is likely to climb above 147 and anger grows among local residents over the government’s failure to prevent bloodshed. A police source, who remains anonymous, said that when the alarm sounded at Garissa University College the authorities took hours to respond, arriving at the scene after politicians and journalists. He said the government's rapid response team was held up in Nairobi for hours arranging transport before it finally made its way to Garissa where gunmen separated Christian students from Muslim students and then killed the Christians. Some, such as Kenyan activist Boniface Mwangi, believe that entrenched corruption in the security system allows al-Shabaab to move freely in and out of Kenya, carrying out attacks with ease. The government has identified Mohamed Mohamud as the groups mastermind with an extensive terrorist network within Kenya. Al-Shabaab is based in Somalia and linked to Al-Qaeda, that was birthed in Yemen.

Pray:

for God to comfort those in mourning, pray also for better security against al-Shabaab attacks. (Ps.7:1)

USA: National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance held on the first Thursday of May, designated by the United States Congress, when people are asked ‘to turn to God in prayer and meditation’. Each year the president signs a proclamation that encourages all Americans to pray on this day. The modern law formalizing its annual observance was enacted in 1952, although it has historical origins to a mandate by George Washington, the first president of the United States. The event is nationwide. (See also GB&I item above.)

Pray:

for many Christians to join our American brothers and sisters in this initiative to pray and for God to inspire the nation to do whatever He tells them to do. (Jn.4:35)

American Tribes defend traditional marriage

Months before the US Supreme Court rules on the issue of gay marriage, Native American tribes have taken steps to defend traditional marriage. Eleven tribes with a total membership approaching a million people will not recognize same-sex marriages. Just weeks after North Carolina began issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, the state's Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians updated its law to prevent gay couples from having marriage ceremonies on tribal land. Tribes that don't recognize same-sex marriage include the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma and the Navajo Nation.

Pray:

for the Supreme Court to respect Natives decisions and actions as they follow their God-given innate spiritual sense of what is healthy in a human body, soul and mind. (Gen.1:27,28)

Pakistan: ‘Letter from Lahore’ update

Last month you were asked to pray for teams of intercessors to be prepared spiritually as they plan to pray at satanic strongholds from Saturday, 11 April to Monday 13 April. The organiser has asked us to continue to pray about this as there is some fear due to tensions in the country and ‘people should not go unless they are spiritually prepared., We are asked to please pray for God to show each group from each area exactly what He wants them to do. Usually when prayer is planned at a stronghold, a team is sent ahead to prepare the place, not to do spiritual warfare, but just to pray for the team that will come and for God to clear the way for them. That isnīt possible this time. Please pray here for wisdom, clear guidance from the Lord and for spiritual protection.

Pray:

as God leads you for the prayer warriors in Pakistan.(Eph.6:12)

Indonesia: Slavery linked to the fishing industry

Every year, thousands of Cambodian migrants cross the border with Thailand searching for employment and better living conditions. They enter the country without documents after paying unscrupulous traffickers who profit on trafficking with promises of a job. The lack of documents and permits makes them vulnerable and easy victims of forced labour; as happened to more than 300 fishermen who were rescued in Indonesia after being locked in cages or hidden in the forests of the islet of Benjina. They were reduced to slavery, subjected to harassment and abuse, and forced to work for Thai-flagged vessels. The Jakarta government discovered the migrant workers following a year-long investigation conducted by Associated Press reporters. The investigation revealed 1,000+ fishermen from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia trapped on the island at different times, a true international hub of forced labour and of modern slavery linked to the fisheries sector. In February the Catholic Church dedicated a day of prayer to the issue of human trafficking and modern forms of slavery.

Pray:

that leaders and governments would make a decisive move to remove slavery from civilised society. (Pr.8:15)
