In the midst of "prayer-shaming"
and calls that "God is not fixing this," thousands gathered at the
66ers stadium and churches around the country to proclaim San Bernardino
for God.
The shooting by a married couple, which has yet to be
determined as workplace violence or domestic terrorism—left 14 dead and
17 injured. But the death toll isn't deterring church leaders.
Thousands gathered at the San Manuel stadium, home of the 66ers, Thursday night to pray for and remember the victims of the massacre.
"Our
community has been put in unfamiliar territory because of this terrible
tragedy. We know that our ballpark is a community gathering place and
that is what we need now," 66ers General Manager Joe Hudson said in
a statement. "We need somewhere that all of us can come together and
grieve for the senseless loss of life and assault on our home."
They aren't the only ones.
Seven
United Methodist Churches came together Thursday night, as well, to
reflect on the tragic events and pray for the country.
