I have heard a number of Words about the change in the
church and I have also seen a number of people worried
about what the church is going to be like.
I feel that God is saying that we should not be
concerned about what the church is going to look like.
Did not God say that He will build His church.
So I believe that God knows what it looks like,
God knows how it is going to be built and God knows
when.
The next reformation, unlike the protestant reformation,
will not be built because of the actions of man.
This move will be sovereign.
God has shown me over time that we are living in the
last days of the reign of Saul. Saul was a peoples king.
He had the appearance, the breading and the stature.
Although he was anointed by God's prophet, he was
ultimately what the people wanted. It is easy to
recognize something built in Saul's image. It is usually
starts with people being heavily taxed to build the
palace (building). Once the building has been built, the
people are continually taxed in order to pay for the
ever increasing costs of maintaining the kingdom
(building, ministry and administration). After the
people have paid their taxes, there is very little left
over for the poor, the widow and for those who do not
know the Lord. Ultimately Saul's reign ends in
witchcraft. (Control and manipulation)
God is bringing Saul's reign to an end.
God's true king (David) is taking his place.
David was God's king. Chosen by God through his prophet.
He was not what the people expected the king to be.
His relationship with God was intimate. His trust in God
was great. When it came to dealing with the enemy, he
was uncompromising.
So what has this got to do with the next reformation?
It is Christ who will be king of His church.
It is Christ who will be the head.
If we get overly concerned with what the church will
look like, we will actually start to build it ourselves.
We will make it in the image of our culture, our
experiences, our beliefs and our weaknesses. We will
establish a new Saul as king and our situation will be
much worse. Our situation will be worse because we will
be disappointed and will find it harder to trust God.
So what must we do. The answer to what I believe we need
to do is very simple.
Stop chasing after the gifting and majesty of men.
Start developing a relationship with God. This
relationship should not be built on requests and
pleadings, but should be much like a marriage
relationship. We should share our good times and bad
times, our secrets and our hopes, our laughter and our
tears. We should converse with Him as a man or woman
converses with their spouse, hiding nothing. Nothing
should be too personal or too little to share with him.
As a relationship is a two way thing, we need to seek
Him for His hopes and joys and everything else He wants
to share with us.
When it comes to serving him, we need to do whatever our
hands find to do, but above all we need to wait on Him.
His direction will protect us from being deceived and it
is His direction which will help us recognize the
church.
In Him we trust and no one else.

Thank you Stuart for that inspiring word. I like how you connected the past experiences with today's dilemma, that God is in CONTROL of.....I say HANDS OFF! Let God be God!
