This is a specific word for someone/s that God is ready and more than willing to restore to a former place in Him they have fallen from. I can't add much to the clarity of this vision/word, but I do want to share what God has given me as I pondered it.
Ps 40:1-2
1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, [a hole, a cistern, a prison, dangers and calamities] out of the miry [sticky, the idea of dirt to be swept away, figuratively, calamity] clay [dregs, mud], and set my feet upon a rock, [A place of strength and safety] and established my goings [Kept me from falling into mischief].
The point of interpretation can often be clairified by scripture. This vision of the pit is described in scriptures, over and over. Look at the original, descriptive language in this portion of scripture - very rich with meaning indeed - root words of cistern, calamity, dregs, sticky muddy places...
When the Lord releases a word concerning a pit, and is showing a way out, it pretty much speaks for itself.
Under no circumstances would God ever place any of us back in the pit from which he brought us out; only our own willfulness can do that. [no more than he put the prodigal son in the pig pen] What He does is allow the law of sowing and reaping to take place with human choices and actions.
Examples:
- drugs lead to addiction
- lust leads to affairs of the heart
- pride leads to a fall
And yes, it is human pride that digs us into many muddy places of instability. It take humility to admit we were prideful in our own ways and to repent so we can get back out.
The ladder may represent some steps that need to be taken in order to reverse the issues that brought us down.
- It may be that one needs to settle some issues between others and themselves.
- It may be that one needs to forgive others wrongs and let go of bitterness.
- And it may be ultimately a point of not obeying God's Word, going our own way, making up our own mind, deciding our own steps instead of allowing God to lead and direct us in all our ways.
I do not believe in a system of human works, but God's Word does teach us that "faith without works is dead." We can say we believe, but can we obey? The steps we must take to extricate us from such places of our own making is humbly acknowledging our sin, repentance and obedience to God.
I really like the message in this word God has given our brother. We must never diminish a short word or little vision, but dig in and see what the Lord is saying. God does not have to give a huge dissertation to get our attention..
It is very clear that some people have received this word from the Lord that will bring them out of something they have got themselves into, but it is going to take a humble, repentant, forgiving heart to cry out to God for help.
I believe our brother stated this word was for someone in this condition, someone in a deep place of spiritual conflict. If this is you, accept it at face value, as given by a brother who stepped out to deliver it. It is life and hope to someone who needs God today to help them out of something they have got themselves into.
God bless those who are receive this word and find freedom from the pit.
