Treasure in Jars of Clay
This morning I awoke with a swirling mass of thoughts that
seemed to make my head spin into a state of confusion. I tried to make sense of the thoughts that kept repeating and coming
at me from all sides. I finally recognized
it for what it was.
This past year has been intense
to say the least. Not only has El broken
down every barrier I put up as uncompromising Doctrine (basically strongholds of
knowledge that I held up as truth), but I also watched every talent that I held
on to with pride be stripped from me and tossed aside.
Cruel? No. Merciful is more like it. For in doing all of this stripping away, what
is left is a totally broken, pure, and emptied vessel in the Potter’s hand. He can now build up this lump of clay as He
wants. It’s His choice now…not
mine. All I do is totally accept and
allow the process to continue unheeded.
When all is said and done, all I do is follow the Spirit.
What many of us see as the enemy coming at us and robbing us
of our inherited blessings, is really the Master at work in us making a vessel fit
for His use. It’s wonderful—it’s terrible! Resistance just prolongs the process. Praying against the Lord’s work is
counterproductive. In our ignorance we
stand up under the pressure and cry out to the Potter from the spinning wheel, “Why
have you made me thus!?” “Make it all go
away and restore everything like I want!” But if we would just listen to what He says,
we would understand that the process is necessary, and there is no other way except
through this reshaping in the Master’s Hand because we ourselves have built strongholds
upon wrong foundations.
In arrogance, we don’t realize we are on the wrong foundation
until He reveals it. Man’s ways are the
way of the enemy and it is subtly substituted as the right way, the good way,
and time honored truth. The enemy keeps
his way before man by setting up boundaries of logic, philosophy and
tradition. Man-made, conjured up Doctrine
and Theology are whirled around like a vanguard against the Holy Spirit. False manifestations and experiences then solidify
the boundaries.
Whenever the Master breaks through and moves in another
direction, counter measures and boundaries are quickly rearranged by the enemy and
put in place by “angels of light” so as to contain the seeds of revelation from
sprouting up in the Sons and Daughters of God.
It is subtle indeed and completely under the radar of most of God’s own…until
the Master starts the correction process of breaking us down and remolding us
into His likeness.
The Master Potter will have what He wants. We either go with His flow, or go against it.
