I'm not sure where's best to post this so I'll leave it to the moderators to sort out :)
My own experiences of our Father's dealings with me have led me to consider the parable of the lost son on many occasions. It seems to me that the lost son is the one who ended up better off... better off than the older son, that is. He was better off because he came to know his father's heart better.
One of the things that has crossed my mind is:
Was the father angry when the son left?
It strikes me that we are given no indication that the father was angry. We are given no sense that he even tried to stop him going. He didn't send anyone after him to warn him of the consequences of his actions or to plead with him to come back. From what I see, all we know is that he left him to his own devices, allowed things to take their course and waited for him to come to his senses.
I pose this for consideration more than as a discussion topic, as I don't have a lot of time online with which to lead a discussion.
Blessings, Mandy
