A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD ; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. {4} Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. {5} And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."(Isaiah 40:3-5)
Since February 9th, 2002 we have witnessed a steady increase of the Lord's Grace on us here in northeast North Carolina - knowing, sensing, feeling that this was something different, something unique, something we had never experienced before. We have seen restoration, reconciliation, passion, evangelism, prayer, and God's Presence increasing in our midst.
Last week we saw increase in lives transformed by the Saving Power of Jesus Christ. Precious lives that had been touched in the bars, made their way to Crossroads and gave their lives to Jesus. The bar owner who experienced salvation just a few weeks ago is becoming a regular attendee of our meetings, another worship band is set to play in the pub on April 12.
Ministries from all over have indicated their desire to be a part of what God is doing in this obscure little town and throughout the region... many have made their way... others are still coming! Regionally, other churches are joining together to reap this harvest, we can't own it, it belongs alone to the Lord of the Harvest!
Two weeks ago the Lord gave me a word - "Harbinger". Little did I know what it really meant. It means "To signal the approach, to indicate that which is to come, to be a forerunner!" That is exactly what we are seeing the Lord do. One of the words early in the outpouring had to do with Paul Revere's Ride - indicating "The Lord of the Harvest is Coming! - the Harvest is coming!"
What we are seeing is that we are in a "Harbinger" mode, what is occurring here, WILL OCCUR everywhere! The Glory of the Lord will cover the sea as waters cover the sea- we are hearing the Lord boldly declare - "Harvest time is here!" This is not a message of hope to- this is not a message of we think so- this is a message of boldness and reality! Prophets have declared it for years, the church has longed for it for years, our hearts individually have yearned for the day of Awesome outpouring, a day when literally millions are swept into the Kingdom of God by the sickle of the Lord.
Those who walked through the Jesus movement saw a taste- those who have experienced the subsequent outpourings have experienced a taste- and with each taste there has been an increase in desire for that which truly long to see- The Harvest of the Lord! (Statistically, just to have a harvest on par with the First Great Awakening, literally millions will be saved in a years time - see Lewis Drummond, "The Awakening That Must Come" - Broadman Press). We are standing on the edge - looking in, pressing our faces into the reality of that which is yet to come, and seeing that we are entering into that realm now.
About fifty cities, over twenty denominations, and ten states, and there is no end in site! People making their way to a stable, insignificant - but holding the harbinger, the seedbed of that which is coming!
