The Brownsville Revival - A New Beginning
July 4, 2002
The Brownsville Revival.. a NEW BEGINNING that Words CANNOT describe!
Last night was the first revival night of the 8th year of the Brownsville Revival. What happened last night is beyond my words to describe it but when you read this report you will know only a fraction of what we experienced.
I approached the massive brick fortress of Brownsville Assembly of God on this June 22,2002 Friday night with great expectations of what God was going to do. The closer I got the stronger the anointing became all across the property. Inside Fort Brownsville (as it appeared to me to be) were the multiple battalions of God's faithful soldiers many worn and torn but still eager to serve. The commander was at his weapon of choice, a mighty Yamaha keyboard artillery piece capable of rendering the enemy helpless and defeated with the first explosion of joyful notes. With these joyful notes of praise came the accompanying voices of hundreds of worshiping soldiers of the Lord. Fort Brownsville was packed out tonight with the overflow in operation as well. Commander Cooley began the march through the Kingdom of the King of Kings. Hell had to be trying to hold up the gates as the 120 member choir sang "All the Earth will declare that your love is everywhere." Outside tonight again was surely an assigned patrol of Angelic warriors standing guard at every entrance posted by the Master of Arms himself, Michael the Archangel.
In many churches there were pews in the back where people sat as the choice place of habitation so they could make a quick exit. Here at Brownsville those seats were for those who were late that could not get a seat up front. No useless conversations filled with the past days activities existed here tonight. Only faces of concentrated expression were to be found intent on pleasing their master. The words flowed from their lips like honey from a freshly broken cone."I believe you are the one, who gave yourself for me and so I pledge my love so true forever and ever. I give my heart to you" we sang. Raised hands flowed like willow branches in a warm summer breeze back and forth throughout the entire campus. "Forever and ever I give my heart to you." All across the fortress an anointing rolled like a river up over and around the many bodies of worshipers. Commander Cooley moved the level one step up as he sang a love son to our sweet Lord Jesus. It was an old Joe Cocker song "You are so beautiful to me" sung just to the Lord. By now the angels were surely lowering themselves down to bow as the King came closer to hear and to enjoy the love songs of HIS children. What bridegroom could resist the lovely voice of HIS bride singing her love song to HIM? Tommy Tenney was in here tonight to minister but right now he could only soak up the presence of the Lord as he was almost out of his chair and onto the floor of the platform. There was such a spirit of brokeness here tonight. It was an intimate, personal, one on one worship night. Again Lindell sang "My heart is searching for you come down." Both in the balcony and on the main floor hands were stretch upward as far as they could reach. Like a child raising up on it's tip toes for poppa to reach down and pick him up, they waited for Abba Daddy. There was such an incredible glow on the faces of the saints tonight. " Will you come down? Will you com down?" Could any parent turn their child away when they cried out for Poppa to come down here and let them love on HIM?
Well neither did our Heavenly Daddy. Lindell began to play under such an anointing that I have never seen or experienced before. He played with increasing strength and conviction and every note was more perfect than the last. Ever hair was standing up on my neck and goose bumps were all over me. I was looking around for something that I could not see and yet it was there. I began to hear instruments I could not see. From the furthermost point of the balcony to the bottom floor, all there were totally lost in worship. It is at this point I cannot tell you what happened. There just were no more words I could find to explain or describe this level of worship. Pastor Cary tried to come to the podium and speak, he could not. The choir director collapsed as the Holy Spirit overcame her. Pastor Richard Crisco slumped backwards in his chair and was gone. Lindell Cooley had to be helped from his stool. Tommy Tenney could not find the words to speak either as he would pick up the microphone and then sit it down again and just walk around. After I was finally able to write again I can tell you that never has this revival seen a night like this. My wife turned to me and said "This is a new beginning." She was right.
Tommy Tenney finally came and spoke briefly before asking the prayer team to come to the front all across the platform. He blessed us and commissioned us to go out and pray for all that wanted prayer. There was hardly a prayer team member that could stand with such a heavy anointing on us as we prayed for all the people that wanted prayer. The pastors and prayer teams ministered until after midnight. It was a new chapter in the revival. A chapter that is only the new beginning of what Father has for us here in Pensacola. If you are going to be in the Pensacola area in the near future come to the Brownsville revival. You will never be the same again. MORE LORD !!!!
