Brownsville Report August 2, 2002
August 10, 2002

Its been several weeks since Satan attempted to silence the voice of the Brownsville Revival. While it is true we have temporarily moved into the family life center, ole slew foot could have never guessed the service would be into our overflow again so soon. Not only was the family life center at capacity, but the chapel had quite a few revivalists as well.

Lindell Cooley came to his station, as he had done so many times these past seven years, and led the massive congregation on their journey into the presence of the Holy of Holies. At first glance you would think this was the old faithful fortress next door, there is no doubt though that this is not about a person or a place but about the creator of all these things.

The choir had to trade in their comfortable chairs for a long stand on metal bleachers, but did so eagerly without one complaint. Tonight all the key boards, drums, guitars, and voices cried out to Creator God. "Its time for the dead to sing, time for the walls to ring.." the words lived with each breath we breathed as we sang out. The atmosphere was charge with HIS Glory tonight from every crevice of this great building. "It's time for the time to turn, time for our hearts to burn to live again". This place seemed to me to be Heaven on Earth. Our souls cried out through our mouths."It's time for the broken to heal, I hear the calling it's time." The voices accelerated with every course we sang. Hands raised like mighty banners in a brisk March wind. Yes I hear the calling it's time Jesus.

This night reminded me so much of early revival services. The anointing of God was so thick in this place tonight. Lindell quickly took us up another level with "Amazing Love". There didn't seem to be a person here that didn't know the words to this famous song. "Amazing love how can it be that thou my God should die for me". This building actually holds hundreds more than the Brownsville Assembly of God main sanctuary and for a time such as this. Thank God. Tonight the space is needed and so appreciated.

Lindell silenced all of the instruments and led us into a song of strong words alon."I love you, I love you because you first loved me". From full instrumentation to none at all, the formula was simple. People +hunger+Jesus= Brownsville Revival. This revival is a representation of this great country God gave us. A melting pot of all races, denominations and age groups. I saw a white haired granny standing next to a youngster with a purple hairdo and ear ring with one common denominator. JESUS and their love for Him.

Carol from the praise and worship team sang "I know my redeemer lives" and the song was powerful and the words were truth. Lindell said " Don't look at me, look at him" I heard these words from this humble man of God so many times before and know that this is the consuming desire of his heart.

As we sang "I love I love, I love your presence" I could feel the reciprocating love of Father. This congregation was moving deeper and deeper into His presence. Lindell said he does not normally take request from the congregation but every few minutes someone would cry out "Freedom" signifying they wanted us to sing that song. Lindell began to play and joy was in the house."Freedom from the chains that bind your children, freedom from the chains that bind our praise to you" we joyfully rang out as many were dancing and twirling in the isles.

Steve Hill was here tonight and the crowd was anxious to hear this man of God bring his strong message of repentance that he had preached for so many nights at the Brownsville Revival. They were not disappointed. Steve asked the congregation to turn in their bibles to Psalms 144. He talked about the miners that had been rescued and told us he saw such a parallel to the spiritual lives of men. 'These miners knew their only hope of help would have to come from above" Steve said.

His sermon was entitled "Dirty Hands and Bad Breath". It was classic Steve Hill so you really need to get a copy of tonight's service. Steve gave three great points in his message. First he said "We must know our Source for deliverance using Psalms 40:17 ,Psalms 54:7, Psalms 72:12 and Romans 7:24 as his points of reference. Second, he said "David knew the size of his deliverance, he was in deep waters" using 1John 1:8 as his scriptural reference. Third, Steve said "David knew the subjects of his deliverance with Psalms 144:11 as his final reference for this powerful sermon.

The altar call was heavy as always as many came to give their lives to the Lord or to rededicate themselves back to Him. It was a powerful night here at the Brownsville Revival and so good to see that the July 4th fire not only did not harm the revival but seems to have only increased its numbers. Yes MORE LORD.
