Healed From Arthritis
A day did not go by that I did not feel the stiffness and pain. My joints were usually swollen and hurting, some times just one, but at times it was my knees, hips, ankle, feet, hands, elbows all together. By the grace God I'm an active person and I was able to keep moving. And when my joints did not hurt, there was the other problem caused by arthritis of being tired most all the time. I was diagnosed with arthritis when I was 23 and have suffered with it over the past 20 years. The anti inflammatory drugs did not agree with me, I only took them when the I absolutely had to in order to function.
Last March I was on my way to Safeharbor in Anacortes about hour and half drive from my house in West Seattle. I was headed for their monthly Freedom Friday renewal service. I had been making this drive once a month because I was hungry for more of God. This particular Friday night traffic was extremely bad. It took me almost 4 hours to reach Anacortes. Logic told me to turn around and go home but the Holy Spirit kept telling me no. I was in so much pain. Sitting in traffic was the last thing I wanted to be doing. I hurt so bad from just sitting, As I was shifting around in my seat my eight year old daughter kept asking me, Mommy are you ok? Why are you crying? The pain was unbelievable. I had no medication with me. When we arrived in Anacortes, I had a hard time sitting on the chair listening to the speaker, I actually shifted between three different seats trying to find a bearable position.
That night the speaker's subject was healing. When he was finished, and started praying for people he asked if anyone wanted healing for arthritis. I went forward. After he prayed for me, I felt better, but by no means was I pain free. I did feel a peace from God.
I went home that night feeling better but not healed. A few weeks later while busy working on a children's musical, which normally exhausted me, I realized I felt good and was pain free. Then it dawned on me that over the next few weeks the pain and swelling were completely gone. At that moment I knew how much God the Father loves us was beyond anything we could imagine. His loves us so much He would do anything for us. It is not His desire for us to suffer, but to heal and take away our pain. To this day I have been free of the arthritis and know the Father loves us so much He was willing to give His Son for us, to restore us with Him.
