Revival Ignites in Zimbabwe

Joh Haasbroek

Dear Ron,

Thank you for your wonderful OpenHeaven.com e'mails. I do enjoy reading all about what GOD is doing all over the world.

For some time now I have been asking the Lord why this is not happening here in Zimbabwe. What I have learnt is that there is a season for everything and I am absolutely delighted to tell you that our Father has not forgotten my precious mother land.

You may or may not know much about Zimbabwe, but we are going through a terrible time at the moment. More than half of our nation (14 million people) are facing starvation. Murder, rape, torture and intimidation of the innocent is country wide.

Amongst this chaos a group of men ( 5 of them ) have felt led to set up a ministry called "Zimbabwe for Jesus". These men (my friends and fellow church members) are just normal folk. They are Christian businessmen who have felt the need to go the extra mile.

GOD has blessed this ministry in a mighty way. I have attached just one report of what is happening in this ministry here in Zimbabwe.

To GOD be all the honour and all the glory for what He is doing here in Zimbabwe

best regards
Joh Haasbroek

ZIMBABWE FOR JESUS - DZIVARASEKWA CRUSADE.

This past week has probably been the greatest week of my life so far.

Isaiah 65.1 says, "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said ' Here am I, here am I' ."

I believe firmly that we are living in the most exciting period in this nation's history. Economically things may be tough and bad things may be happening, but God is reaching out to the people of this nation (and that includes you and me) in a way we have never seen before.

Acts 2.17 says, " In the last days I will pour out my Spirit on all people."

God who is rich in mercy, has by his grace given us the awesome privilege of having a part to play in the greatest outpouring of the Holy Spirit that this nation has ever witnessed.

What we witnessed in Dzivarasekwa this past week was just a foretaste of what God has in store for us.

To God be all the glory and all the praise for the great things HE has done !!!!!

Dzivarasekwa is similar to Mbare in that it is known as a difficult area to penetrate spiritually. Many crusades held here in the past have been severely disrupted by drunkenness and rowdy people. We had no such problems.

God's presence was tangible from the very first day of the crusade.

God drew many people to the meetings even though some of the nights were cold and wet.. The tents were far too small and we did not have enough seating even though upon seeing the crowds we had put extra outside the tents. Such was the hunger of the people that they were content to stand for hours in the dark so that they could hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Most of the meetings went well into the night, some past 11.00pm yet when we closed them the crowds did not want to go home.

Almost 800 people gave their lives to the Lord this week. Many were set free from demon power by the power of Jesus' name.

A young man came forward confessing a life of crime and theft. The Lord convicted him deeply, he gave his life to Jesus and was baptized. I do not believe he will ever be the same again.

A young woman, who was a prostitute, a drunkard, had been sexually abused in her childhood and whose grandfather was a witchdoctor came forward at the altar call to give her life to Jesus. As she did so the demons inside her seized her and threw her to the ground. She was delivered by the power of the Lord Jesus and was baptized on Saturday.

On Wednesday a deaf woman was healed of her deafness.

On Thursday night God's presence was so strong that for nearly an hour the people just worshiped the Lord Jesus, many on their knees. I have never seen this level of worship in a crusade where most people are either unbelievers or brand new Christians. When God manifests His presence people can only but worship him!!

On Saturday night the Holy Spirit came on many. Many were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke fluently in other tongues. Some were so overcome by the power of God that they fell onto the ground and lay in the dirt worshipping God in the Spirit and caught up in the wonder of his glory. There are many lives, you can rest assured, that will NEVER be the same again. An encounter with the Risen and Living Christ has changed them for ever.

It was just like in the book of Acts. Our God has not changed. What he did for them then He is still doing today!!!! What a compassionate and merciful God we serve. Jesus our Wonderful Lord and Saviour is full of grace and truth and from the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

I believe that what we saw God do this week is the start of a great revival in this community. Yet, we all still need to be praying and asking the Lord to bring to fullness and completion the work which He has begun. The Pastors have got their work cut out. We do not want a single soul to be lost. The follow-up is vital. Shepherding and caring for these people is going to require God's grace, wisdom and power. The raising up of church leadership is vital.

The harvest truly is plentiful but the workers are few. Pray and ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest field.

May the Lord Jesus bless you all.
