India Mission Report
Dear Friends:
I am on my way back from India with a stop over at Malaysia. With a few hours on my hands, I thought I would update you on our last meetings in Mysore.
The pastors and leaders in Mysore organized a very effective festival. They called it “Peace Festival”. We presented Jesus - the Prince of Peace! More than 2,000 people came each night and the final night about 3,000 attended the meetings. Each night God used the preaching of the Word to convert souls. The first night 150 trusted Christ as their Savior, the following night about 120 and the on the last night about 200 trusted Christ. Many were Muslim and Hindus. There were also a few foreigners who attended the meetings. One lady from Austria came forward to turn from her sin and follow Christ.
The preparations for the meetings were undergirded with prayer and fasting by the local churches. A group of ladies prayed for me every night behind the platform and so did many of you. I could tell the difference, I had much authority and power as I preached. With great boldness and authority Warren and I made known the mysteries of the gospel in a simple manner. Ephesians 6:19 was answered. Thanks for praying this scripture. I also got a note from a friend in Lexington, she was praying Acts 4:22-23. God answered that prayer too. He indeed stretched forth his hands and did some mighty miracles. The greatest of all was to save souls.
Praise God for 470 souls that made a decision to follow Christ.
Many came for prayer and found that God had mercy on them and touched their ailing bodies. Warren and I prayed for three blind girls, and all of them received a measure of healing. One in particular began to see immediately, she saw Warren's face and the others began to see things slowly. Two young children received hearing. We praise God for these spectacular healings. Others received relief from pain and other illnesses. God is good and faithful to touch those who reach out to him. We feel blessed, very blessed that God would choose to use us in the process. All glory and honor are due to him!
Word got out that we were touching this city with the gospel in this fashion. God Channel TV came to cover the last night of the festival. God Channel TV covers 88 nations and reaches over 80 million people. Pray that God will use the message and ministry to touch many lives around the world. Praise God for this exposure as well.
God kept us safe from harm and any opposition. The gospel was preached in freedom and liberty. Many felt the freedom to come forward and profess Christ openly.
On Monday we met with pastors in Kothagiri. Over 120 pastors and leaders from various denominations came to a pastor’s conference. They are also considering calling us for festival in May of 2004. It was great to see Anglicans, Baptists, Brethren, Pentecostals, Nazarenes and every stripe of Christians there represented. What was amazing was that they all had great love and unity in their midst. Pray that God will lead them as they discuss inviting us in the summer.
Thank you for praying for Warren and me. We need your prayers as we get back to the States. Our bodies have taken a beating due to the torturous journey from Mysore-Kothagiri-Bangalore over a 16-hour car ride within a 24-hour period. Add to that the journey back home the following day. I am not complaining by no means, but we need your prayers for strength and health.
More than 1000 people made decisions during these meetings in India. Pray for them and their walk with God. Pray for the pastors and churches as they follow up these new believers. Most urgently we need your prayers and support to finish paying off the bills for these crusades. We lack $3,000.00. God has been gracious to provide enough to this point; we rejoice in that and thank the many of you who stood with us to reach the people of India with the gospel.
