The 1st Benin City Prophetic Prayer Conference
April 6, 2004

Dear Ron,

I am sending you a report of some great event which recently took place in the ancient city of Benin (the birth place of Late Archbishop Benson Idahosa).

As a territory, Benin has seen the good and bad sides.Recently, the city was thrown into spiritual darkness and a lot significant features marked the spiritual landscape.

Some of them were 1. The presence of millions of Bats at the city centre -flying in broad day light. 2.Occult groups having a place of pride in the society. 3.Fetish sacrifices present at major street junctions. 4, Obvious lawlessness within the city .etc

After the Prophetic Prayer conference, significant changes are taking place in the land. The theme for the conference was 'Let there be LIGHT OVER BENIN CITY'

The host for this conference was GOSPELHOUSE MINISTRIES in collaboration with the World Breakthrough Network.Below is a brief report on the events.

REPORT ON THE 1ST BENIN CITY PROPHETIC PRAYER CONFERENCE

Much spiritual preparation had gone ahead of the 25th of March,2004 (the day the conference was expected to take off).We had initially given a full week of corporate fasting and prayers and later another full week of all night prayers.

By the morning of Thursday 25th March, everything was set saving the venue. We had to decide early to use the hall of a nearby Gordon Motel (which was two houses away), pending the completion of the venue by the close of that same day.

The objective of the conference was primarily to bring the body of Christ into the knowledge of divine purpose. Build a common platform for a united frontal attack against satanic strategies in Benin. Drawing down principles for effective and fervent prayers to birthing divine purposes. Awakening the church to her glorious position through effective proclamations.

About 30 people witnessed the first session of the 1st day. Pastor Lemmy opened up with a general survey of the spiritual landscape of Benin. Tracing the history of the Benin people, he succeeded in establishing the fact that the territory is a spiritual high place. The reality of this was clearly pictured in the history of the land and the church. Other ministers in attendance made contributions including Reverend Michael Akenbo. The prayer sessions later focused on the restoration of the light of God and the peeling off of darkness over the land. The programme for the morning session ended with a great note of promise.

By evening, the hall of Gordon Motel was filled up. Ernest Paul( the psalmist from Lagos) led us into a session of high praise and worship to usher in the presence of God. The word later came through Pastor Lemmy, dealing extensively on spiritual harlotry. He used Revelation, Judges 6,7 and 8 to picture the process that led to the sliding of the church (in Benin) into spiritual harlotry. Relating copiously to the history of the church into this present time, it became obvious that the failure of the church is what led to the current state of the landscape. Other ministers present took up prayer points to blast through the strategies of Satan. There was an overwhelming presence of God and bliss that marked this session.

Day two was held in the hall of the House of God. The setting of the venue was still being done when the morning session was organized. The ministers in attendance took turns at leading in prayers, this was concluded early so as to get the place set for the evening session.

About 50 persons witnessed the second session of the second day. The Holy Spirit through Ernest Paul stirred the time of worship, praise and exhortation. Improvised new songs started to flow as prophecy over Benin was declared. The message for the night charged those in attendance to rise up with this new light that had come into the land. The ministers in attendance also took turns to lead prayer sessions for a positive change in the land.

Day three (Saturday 27th March) which was billed to feature only one session commenced at 4pm. Certain dramatic events unfolded before the commencement of the evening program. The first set of ministry workers arrived the venue to meet a dead large sized Bat. While they had just finished praying after the discovery, they were alerted by a noise coming from a nearby Pear tree. On getting there, it was discovered that an unseen hand had cut down a large branch of the tree and all the fruits were littered on the ground. The Lord actually spoke through these incidents to confirm that we had touched heaven and that the land is taken for the glory of God.

Just before the evening session was to begin, the rain began to threaten to fall. Pastor Lemmy immediately led the congregation into prophesying to the wind and the clouds. Few minutes after, the rains stopped but it was obvious that it was still raining around town. One of the Pastors who came in an hour later, confirmed that the rains prevented him from coming earlier.

Attendance registered was about 50/53. Pastor Nosa Iyamu from Lagos took the teaching for the evening from the book of Genesis 18. He taught using Lot as a principle for Benin City. Through the scriptures, he gave definition to what God was about to do in Benin City and those through whom God was going to move. The Prayer sessions brought the meeting to an interesting climax with prophecies of a new Benin City. A land that is free of wickedness, lawlessness, prostitution and idolatry. A land of prosperity and progress in the things of God. Testimonies of Gods faithfulness flowed.

The final day was one of praise and thanksgiving to God. The weather was fair and the atmosphere was charged with the Lord’s presence when proceedings started at 3pm . Attendance recorded was 68 persons. Some of the ministers present made significant remarks to testify to what God is about to do in the land through this conference and the host ministry. Reverend Owoha of Word of Truth Bible Church, Reverend Fidelis Okojie of Gospel Word Ministry, and Reverend Emmanuel Udu N’de spoke at different times to confirm the timeliness and accuracy of the word proceeding through the conference.

Pastor Lemmy’s closing message was a challenge for all believers to rise up and level down all the strategies of Satan. Speaking through Malachi’s prophecy,in chapter 4 and verse 5 and 6, Pastor Lemmy pointed out that the move of God in the land was by passing existing structures and proceeding through unknown vessels. He opined that denominational structures were hindering many choice servants of God from access to their divine destiny. Light was thrown at the mountains and valleys that need to be adjusted inorder for mankind to see the salvation of God. He called on the sons of God to look beyond the present veil of Satan and rise up to meet the demand of heaven.

Fidelis Okojie later led prayers of dedication and commitment as the conference ended on a note of thanksgiving.By the following day uptil this time, the presence of Bats at the city centre had disappeared. No more fetish sacrifices have appeared at the major street junctions.
