Uganda - First "white Men" Ever To Enter Village - Bill & Linda Campbell

WITCH DOCTOR'S CHILDREN AND MANY OTHERS MAKE JESUS THEIR LORD.
Saturday, April 3, three African pastors, Bill, Erin, and I drove to “The Bush” for a believer’s conference. We were to be the first “white men” who had EVER entered this particular village. We were making history. We arrived to the sound of African praise music. The believers ran out of the church to greet us as we arrived. After spending a few minutes with them we had an important appointment to keep.
Our car swerved to avoid potholes and ruts as we made our way down a walking path to the home of one of the leaders of the village. We had a coke and a hard boiled egg in her home. While we were visiting, the woman’s son, the local witch doctor arrived. He was visiting his two wives and children in this village. He was invited into the home to eat with us. The sweet presence of God filled the room as each of us shared the power of the cross and the love of God with him. He struggled with making a decision to serve this Jesus. He offered to give us his children. He allowed us to pray for him before his wife, who is also a witch doctor whispered something in his ear and they got up to leave.
The chairman of the village is Muslim. He welcomed us to the village and stayed for the entire day. There was a strong word about the love relationship between God and His children. He was listening intently to every word. He wanted us to come back soon. He was so thankful to see his people getting free.
Many people made Jesus the Lord of their lives including the witch doctor’s children. The team prayed for everyone in the church for deliverance after a time of repentance and renouncement. There were many manifestations of the demonic as the evil spirits left the people. We prayed God’s love into them to fill the void that was no longer occupied by the demonic.
We had a children’s time teaching them how to overcome evil in their little lives. Many of the adults from the village joined us. They wanted Jesus as their Savior along with the children. We prayed for healing of swollen bellies and hernias. We prayed against the destroyed and sealed these little ones for God’s purposes only.
As we were leaving, the women arrived with dozens of raw chicken eggs, honey, grass mats, hugs, and kisses. This had truly been a wonderful day. They were celebrating with the meal we had provided for everyone.
We were horrified the next morning as we looked at the front page of the paper. A woman’s ears and lips had been cut off by the "Lord’s Resistance Army" in Northern Uganda. She had tried to return to her home. The people have been forced off their farms into the city, where they have no food or shelter. They are dying on the streets every day. This army is made up of boys as young as 14 and 15 years. Some of Ugandan friends had relatives murdered leaving their children as orphans. Two missionaries were shot a few days ago in Northern Uganda. Please continue to pray.
Our Muslim cab driver was miraculously healed of malaria after Bill prayed for him. He said that he had always been looked down upon by Christians in the past. He said that he has never seen such love. He poured out his heart to us. He now takes our hand, not wanting to be left out when we pray. He turns the cab radio to Christian music. He wants to hear everything that we say. He has become so attracted to Jesus. Instead of leaving us at the church services, he started parking his cab near by so that he could hear the services. God woke him up in the night on our behalf so we would not be late going to the airport. He is recognizing that this Jesus that we love wants to have a relationship with him also. He told us that his wife wants to meet us, and when we come back they want to have us come to their house for dinner. This man has influence over 6,000 people in his village as he is their chairman.
Sunday was our last night in Uganda. Bill asked if anyone was so desperate for God that they had to get a touch of His fresh fire and could not wait until the end of the service. The power of God was so strong that most could not stand. He was doing a very deep work in the hearts of these dear people that we had come to love so much. As they prayed for us, we knew that we had been given a priceless treasure. Somehow God had given us a revelation of how beautiful the people of Uganda are to Jesus. We do not take this lightly. We have seen the dirt, filth, depression, sickness, disease, and the shadow of death. We will go to people living in darkness with the light of the gospel. Our love for Jesus compels us to go.
