Greetings from London, England!! Just trying to redeem the time as I for my flight to the States.
I am on my way back home from Kenya after a successful mission. Warren and I had the privilege of seeing more than 150 people place their faith in Christ. Hundreds of other commitment decisions were made as well during our ministry in Kenya.
48 Souls Trust Christ at the Youth Camp.
Yesterday, we spoke at a Youth Camp teeming with energetic kids ages 10 to 20. What an awesome privilege it was to see 48 young people trust Christ for the first time! It also broke my heart to see so many young people confess the about the terrible conditions in their home. When I prayed for them, I asked those living with abuse and brokenness in their homes to look into my eyes, over half the crowd confessed to such conditions in their homes. O, how it must break the heart of our Father in heaven! My heart was moved and eyes welled up with tears as I prayed over them.
Fruit from Last Year’s Mission - Two Hindu families turn from Idols to serve a living God.
I was greeted by Lalji and his family when I arrived at Nairobi from Webuye early this week. Lalji and his wife along with another Indian couple (Deepak and Kalpana) trusted Christ last year when I preached at Bishop Kitonga’s church in Huruma. Both families have remained steadfast in their faith and have stood against the opposition from their families and Indian community. In fact Lalji has come under great pressure from his father-in-law, a wealthy business man. In spite of all the opposition both these families have remained as believers and assured me that they are willing to give up all to follow Christ. Wow! What faith and perseverance.
I spent an evening with both families fellowshipping, breaking the Bread of Life and praying. It was a powerful evening as we looked at passages from I Thessalonians, Ephesians and Colossians. Deepak asked us to pray over the sale of a property which had not been unsuccessful. The very next day he called me mid-afternoon to let me know that God had answered that prayer.
This favor of God displayed the power of prayer and God’s manifest power to the Hindu community. It also served as a shot in his arm, boosting his faith in Christ. Pray for both these families as they turn from their idols to serve a living God and witness to their families.
Training up the Next Generation of Evangelists and Pastors
God has laid a burden on our hearts to Mentor Evangelists and Pastors.
While I focus on the Evangelists, Warren will focus on the pastors. God has speaking to our hearts on doing this for a while and finally, we have begun the process of such a training. Warren spent most of his time in Kenya doing this with a team he has raised up. Dan and George have been appointed to head up his efforts in mentoring and training pastors to be disciple makers. During my time in Webuye and Nairobi, I have identified about 75 Evangelists, my next move will be to form an alliance modeled after Luis Palau’s (Next Generation Alliance, a ministry of Luis Palau; under which alliance I serve as a network Evangelist ). God has been faithful to give me many mentors including Lon Allison of Billy Graham Center in Wheaton. It now my turn to start pouring into the lives of other evangelists. I will be working with several church movements in Kenya to gain their cooperation, and identify their evangelists. I am sure many of you will agree with me that in such a ministry we will reproduce ourselves and leave behind us a generation of evangelists and pastors.
I want to thank you for your prayers and financial support. Many of you have been gracious and generous to see us through on this mission. Thank you! May the Lord bless and reward your faithfulness and concern for this ministry. Your families and ministries, may they experience God’s provision and keeping.
