December 2006 News letter

Dear Mission partners
Greetings in the name of the Lord of harvest, who said, “Go into the whole world and make disciples”. The month of December is the harvest time in North India. It was true in spiritual sense also. The whole world is celebrating the birth of Jesus, but half of the world has never heard about the name of Jesus. There are more than 500,000 villages in India even without a single Christian. My north Indian trip has confirmed this. God is opening new doors everyday to preach the gospel and plant churches. We have to make use of this opportunity and send more missionaries into the villages of India to preach gospel and plant churches. Beloved, the fields are white unto harvest. I have seen it firsthand. Will you help us to train more nationals and send more nationals? These souls have to be reached for Jesus. A little sacrifice from our side will bring a soul into the kingdom. A little sacrifice will enable us to send one more missionary into a village to preach the gospel. A little sacrifice will bring the gospel into a village. A little sacrifice will help us to save and feed one more child and save a generation. We are planning to open two Mercy Homes in Jagadalpur area and we look forward for partners .Will you ….won’t you…?

On December 1st I was invited to Kanom a remote village in South east Kerala. Our missionary George has been working in this village for the last few years. George was a very devoted business man married to an Anglican priest’s daughter. God blessed their lives with three children and the life was so smooth to begin with. The rubber business of George flourished very much and his life started to drift away from God and the Word. Life became too tough when his wife became seriously sick and abandoned by medical science and doctors. George did not know where to turn in this situation with his three little children and wife. He decided to commit suicide as a family and made a plan for that. It was at this time, a missionary from Voice of Gospel invited him for a fasting and deliverance service being held in the mission house. George went and attended the service and turned his life into the hands of Jesus. George returned home with Jesus and in great joy. From the next day onwards, George started a prayer service in his house for the people who suffer from sickness and financial debt. People started to come for this service and he was invited to their houses to be prayed for .God started saving and healing people. So these people wanted to know more about Jesus and worship Jesus with George. Thus a home Bible study fellowship was opened. Slowly but surely it started growing. Many people were touched by God through this house of prayer .Pastor George donated his land for a church building. We were able to do the foundation work for a prayer hall of 40 x 25ft and put a roof on the pillars. We need $5000 more to finish this house of prayer. On December 1st, 20 people received water baptism and 26 more committed to take baptism in the next service at this village. People are studying the Word and preparing themselves for the baptism. Today we have about 129 people come to worship the Lord in this village church.

I am so thankful to the Lord and the mission partners who enabled us to go to the state of Chattisghat in North India for a short mission trip. This state came into being in 2000.This is a tribal state with a lot of tribal people .Voice of Gospel stated the mission work in 2004 January by sending Missionary Shaji John to train the nationals and plant churches. In the next year, we were able to plant 3 churches and send 5 more missionaries into different villages. In 2005 we started supporting Pastor.Vijayan, who was an independent missionary at Jagadalpur area, which is about 300 Kms away from Raipur, the State head quarters. I went to this state to see the work and also to encourage our missionaries and to plan about the future works.
I was able to make a trip to Raipur and Jagadalpur on December 5th through 8th. At 10 a.m I reached at Raipur by flight and went to the village to do the village crusade and the baptisms. As it was the harvest season, many villagers could not attend the crusade and the baptism. We had two meeting at Raipur.160 people attended the village meeting. 124 people committed their lives to the Lord and 15 people were ready for baptism in that village. We hired a truck to go to the village pond. As soon as we reached there, the antichristian & anti conversion movement people were there to hinder the baptism service. So we drove to another pond area .That pond was surrounded by 5 Hindu temples and the people were bathing, washing their clothes and cleaning buffalos. We were a little bit hesitant to do the baptism over here as there were a lot of people engaged in their ceremonial bath after their religious worship. As there was no other choice we decided to do the baptism in the same pond. All the people were watching what we are doing and sent one boy to inquire about it. The missionary said “we are having an after-death service in the water”. They politely witnessed our service without understanding what it was .Yes Baptism is truly “the death and burial service”. The night meeting arranged in the next village was attended by more tribal people and they committed their lives to follow Jesus.
We were able to plant 3 churches in three different villages. Our missionary is also running an English Medium School in one of the villages as per the request of the people in the village and we have 75 students in this Village School.
By 10 p.m we started our trip to Jagadalpur City which is 7 hours by bus drive .we arrived at Jagadalpur by 5 a.m. As it was too cold in Jagadalpur I started shivering and developed fever in the body. I was totally exhausted and unable to do anything. People from the villages were already there in the meeting place. As the anti Christian & Conversion people heard about this meeting they too arranged a meeting next to our meeting place. The first place we booked for the meeting was taken from us by force and we were forced to move into another building .With out any protest we moved into he new facility. There were about 125 people from different villages who came to attend the baptism classes. People who came from the same village to attend the anti conversion meeting threatened the new believers who came to attend the baptism class and were forced to go back to their villages in the midnight itself. The night meeting was so powerful and the spirit of the Lord healed many deepened their conviction in the Lord. By the next day morning half of the people were gone back into the village due to the threat of the people. We decided to continue the meeting and the baptism was set by 11 a.m. We changed the venue as we knew that it is illegal to give baptism for the tribal in that State. Recently a Pastor was sentenced for 3 years imprisonment and fined for $8000 for baptizing a tribal. So we decided to do it in secret. We had to drive 8 miles into the forest and find a picnic spot to relax and do the baptism. We prayed for Lord’s special protection over us. 48 people were baptized .Praise the Lord!!! The villages are ready for harvest. We have to do some thing now. These tribal people are ready to worship Jesus. They are hungry after the true living God. We have to lead them into the kingdom before they get lost. I really felt the need of training and sending more missionaries into these villages. Today we are supporting 15 missionaries in Jagadalpur region and our missionaries have planted 65 fellowships in 65 villages. We have selected 10 more missionaries and had sent them into 10 villages. We are in need of sponsors for these new missionaries. We plan to have 100 fellowships in 100 villages by the end of 2007. The Bible says “all things are possible to those who believe” and also “ask it shall be given unto you”. We request all our partners to continue to venture with us in prayer, faith and giving; to attain this target.

Please pray for our National convention to be held in January 3 to 7 at Trichur.
We are also planning for The Second Voice of Gospel Partners’ conference at Rose Creek village at Selmer, TN, by June 15th through 17th. Please pray & plan to attend this conference.
