More Miracles From West Ga

More Miracles From West Georgia, USA
January 1, 2008

There isn’t any need from my perspective to embellish or enhance miracles from Heaven. As a kid I would watch a TV show with my Dad called Dragnet. Supposedly true stories from the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) crime files. One of the shows characters, Sgt. Joe Friday, used a repetitive line when interviewing witnesses of a crime scene...“The facts, ma’am, nothing but the facts.” In the same light, it is my intention to relate to you...the facts, nothing but the facts...

What Goes Up...Must Come Down

New York City has the dropping of the “Big Apple” to ring in the New Year on Times Square. Atlanta, Georgia, welcomes the New Year with the “Peach Drop.” And, a little over an hour west of Atlanta, bordering the Alabama State line, lies the quaint, friendly town of Tallapoosa, Georgia, where among other things, there were those who celebrated...the “‘Possum Drop.” I kid you not. You just can’t make this stuff up, folks.

Sitting in a small store front church, I pondered on how did they exactly carry out this feat? Perhaps someone stood on the roof of the highest two-story building in the town square waiting for instructions from below as to when he should “toss the ‘possum to the ground.” Was it necessary to calculate the weight and rate of fall of this potential road kill to coincide exactly with midnight? Or, was it just ‘good enough’ whenever this nocturnal creature did meet up with terra firma we could all shout together with joyful glee, “Happy New Year!”?

Fortunately, to the relief of animal lovers everywhere, no actual live animals were harmed in this annual event. Unfortunately, on this night, many of this beloved Southern marsupials’ counterparts were not dealt so kind of fate along US Highway 78 that makes it’s way westward through this delightfully warm, cozy region.

Where Are The Miracles?

For those of you still reading, I can only imagine at this point your thoughts on, “What does this have to do with miracles?” Within itself it has nothing to do with miracles, but rather to point out the contrasting positions we’ve been led to embrace through much of the Western media mindset.
Our homes have been flooded with miracles from around the world. We’ve sat in awe and watched the Hand of God perform supernatural feats from Africa with a million plus in attendance. We’ve witnessed packed stadiums and coliseums filled to capacity in hopes that God’s servant will pray for them to be healed. We support multimillion dollar ministries in our prayerful belief that God will release His Favor upon us to experience the same. While there may be absolutely nothing wrong with any of these things, has it in turn limited our faith to believe this is the only way God will perform miracles?

What about the vast majority of rural American believers with limited funds and resources? What about those struggling preachers holding down full time jobs while simultaneously trying to pastor a handful of people? Has God reserved His miracle working power for the promotion of the Christian media alone?

We are grateful unto God for the price the nationally and internationally known men and women of God have paid to see the release of His destiny into their lives. We applaud them that they did not give up in the ‘secret place’ with God where He alone heard their cries of desperation. Many of them have stood in the place of criticism and persecution to achieve the breakthrough they stand in now. For some, they will never hear, or ever know how they have encouraged so many of us to keep pressing in for our own personal breakthrough. Nevertheless, this miracle breakthrough begins on a New Year’s Eve night with around 20 adults and a handful of children.

The Names Have Not Been Changed

Pastor Jamey Doss and his wife, Joy, are the senior ministers at Faith Worship Center located at the western city limits of the aforementioned town of Tallapoosa. They’ve contributed to their membership with their own 4 children ages 8 - 9 - 10 & 11. Jamey is one of the men of God who pastors a small flock and works full time to support it, and his family. Having recently experienced what some would call a “church split”, he struggled to keep not only his faith up, but his family’s, and church’s as well.
The previous night’s service had ended with half of his congregation encountering the miraculous healing power of God, and his wife, Joy, experiencing her own personal refreshing in ‘the Joy of the Lord’. It seemed not only had the attendance risen from the night before, but the level of faith as well.

Like Father - Like Son

What could make a pastor/father more proud than his firstborn son to stand in his pulpit at age 11 and deliver his first Gospel message? Zach Doss stood for a full 10 minutes behind his Dad’s podium and gave a challenge to all of us from Romans 12:1-3 regarding being a living sacrifice. “Who would we serve in ‘08 - God? or the devil?” He sat down to the encouraging applause of parents and siblings alike. Yet, little did Zach know, this would be only one of the first of his God encounters this night.

5 years prior Pastor Jamey and Joy listened to a diagnosis from a doctor explaining to them the sever curvature of Zach’s out turned feet and legs could only be corrected by surgery. He explained when Zach reached the age of 15 they would have to surgically break and turn his tibia-fibula bones and reset them with pins for his feet to ever face forward. Only then could he ever hope to run or jump normally. As a result of this deformity tendonitis had set in his feet and ankles. Now at the age of 11 his younger brother’s comments were, “He walks like a duck.”

Out With The Old...

As the old year wound it’s way out, Zach sat on the front row with wide-eyed amazement, fully engrossed as he watched God not only healing people, but telling them what He was healing them of without anyone speaking a word regarding their illness. He listened intently to each individual testimony afterward as they gave praise to God for their miracle.

Then as the New Year worked it’s way in, the invitation was given to anyone needing a healing or a miracle to come forward. Zach, sitting only inches away, was the first person to jump up and step forward. I looked puzzled at this freckled face young preacher as to what he could possibly need a miracle for? Perhaps he misunderstood the invitation. It was then he pointed out to me his two out turned feet.
To be perfectly honest, I didn’t pray or command anything to “Go”, or “Loose”, or “Whatever.” With both parents standing from an observational viewpoint, I told him to sit in the chair and stretch out his legs. Without speaking a word I propped his legs in my hands and let them rest there. It was then the Hand of God went where the hand of man cannot. His feet, ankles, and legs began to tremble and jump. We all watched as the unseen forces of the Heavenly realm began to turn his feet from pointing to the opposite sides of the room upwards, toward the ceiling.

...In With The New!

I asked him, “Son are you turning your feet?” He replied, “No, are you?” I assured him I was not and asked him what he was feeling. He pointed to both knees and said, “It’s vibrating from here down.” When the vibrations stopped he stood to his feet, which now pointed in front of him. He then turned and ran at top speed twice around the church. His younger brother watching him as he went by was overheard to say, “Great, I guess he’ll out run me now.”

Catching The Fire

Can you imagine what the Kingdom of God has in store for this novice preacher who at age 11 has already experienced the miracle working power of God for himself? Can you imagine the impact he will have on his generation fueled by the flames of a personal Holy Ghost encounter? Can you imagine the lives he will be led to change because God showed up in his little church, in a small rural town, that, prior to this New Year’s Eve night, claim to fame was a “‘Possum Drop?”

My desire in sharing these things are two-fold. To hopefully bring you a smile, as well as, strengthen and encourage every struggling minister who may feel they are alone in their particular portion of the Kingdom of God. You are a part of a greater whole. Our King hasn’t forgotten your hunger and desire to see the Glory of God. What is available to one, is available to all. Set your sights on nothing less than the Supernatural of God invading earth again. Be encouraged. All it takes is child like innocence and faith.

“Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
Mark 10:15 - Luke 18:17

Happy New Year!
