What is appropriate Christian dress?
The people at my church wear normal clothes. At my friend's church they all wear dresses/skirts and have long hair (passed the waist even). I keep flip-flopping over what I think I should wear. The Lord has shown me long hair (but not as long as my friend's church) in a pony tail, and knee length skirt with boots. I think that would be fun to wear!
What is appropriate Christian dress? Should I wear jeans considering the Lord showed me knee length skirt? Before I asked God about what I was wearing, but I sort of got the impression that He wasn't very concerned about what my clothes looked like. (((I love You God!!!)))
What do you see as appropriate modest, Christian dress?

Jess,
In my estimation and in having sought the Lord about what modest dress is for a lady, what came to mind in determining what kinds of clothes to have in my possession was this:
If it's too short, too low, too tight or you can see through it, get rid of it.
Another thing that helped me understand whether an item was modest or not was in noticing how others looked at me.
At certain churches, there are different clothes worn. At some churches, everyone wears jeans. At other places, women wear nicer pants or dresses. At Pentecostal Holiness churches, they only wear long dresses, no make-up and long hair (from what I hear).
For dresses or skirts, I believe they should be below the knee.
Not only is our clothing to be modest, but also how we carry ourselves. How we carry ourselves (for example, how we walk and the expression on our face) will also tell others if our desire is to be modest or not.
All these things come with practice.
Love,
Ann

GOOD QUESTION JESS and Great Answer Ann!
For some reason I have had this on my mind lately a lot!
Growing up in church, we never wore pants back then. Much less what we are seeing these days.
My mother used this expression with us....Just make sure you cover up the wiggles......!!!! Like, if you wear pants, wear a blazer or sweater. If your dress is sorta low cut, wear a scarf and something that will take on a modest appearance. And no mini skirts, please. And what is up with these camisoles the girls are wearing....with tight jeans on top of that.
I had this dream that I was standing at the front doors of the church handing out alter clothes and white robes to just about all the young ladies!!!!
They're coming in dressed like maybe they are going out to wash their car!
It's disturbing.
