Comment added by me: I have seen many people begin a sermon by stating a topic like "grace", then lead into the sermon by reading what Webster's Dictionary says about Grace. It makes more sense to ask God what He meant by the word, then referring to a dictionary OR a commentary. God's definition for a word sets people free.
"You have heard it said that Grace is God's unmerited favor. This is man's definition, not Mine. This definition mentions neither My Son Jesus NOR does it mention the Cross. My definition of Grace is this: “I treat you with the favor Jesus deserves. He received what you deserved on the Cross. You believed on Him. I placed you IN HIM. And now I treat you LIKE HIM. That is My definition of Grace.”

I heard this this morning
"Jesus did nothing to deserve the way He was treated, so that I can say the SAME THING about you, too. That is another very good way of describing grace."
